Garden Walls by Mindy Gledhill

Музыка

I made this video for an Atonement Project in my Book of Mormon class. This is one of my favorite songs about the Atonement. I feel the pictures and words really help to bring out it's meaning.

I remember every word of every song on this album The sum of all grace even after many years. My testimony got so much stronger through my teenage years while I listened to these songs! They’re just so perfect, reflexive and peaceful. They’re my favorite Lds songs.

The lights within Jeruselem are gone. There is one who will not sleep at all. He will call upon the powers of heaven, deep with in the garden's walls. A voice breaks through the silence in the night. The grounds shake to hear a grown man cry. Oh he cries and feels the sting of death inside, but he won't ask why. Through the years and ‘cross the deep blue sea comes this mystery. Where the king of heaven and earth bow down to free me. Footsteps in the sand are drawing nigh. And raging voices echo in the sky. Angry eyes can't see that the man they sent to die offers life. Through the years and ‘cross the deep blue sea, comes this mystery. Where the king of heaven and earth bow down to free me. Two thousands years and ‘cross the deep blue sea, the king of all creation came to free me. The lights within the city now are gone. But there is one who can not sleep at all. I will answer to the voice that ever calls from those garden walls.

This song is the best interpretation for the story of Gethsemane. awesome vocal and lyric。 這首歌曲真的是對客西馬尼園最佳的詮釋。 帶領我真正能體會到耶穌基督在那時刻的所有心境。

@@JonasVCruz check out her interview on mormon storied podcast. Just google her name and mormon stories. You can hear it directly from her in a two hour interview. Also there is this from the salt lake Tribune. For all her adult life, singer-songwriter Mindy Gledhill has been deeply rooted in Provo culture - which is to say, the culture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She licensed one of her songs to the church for its 2014 documentary, “Meet the Mormons.” She lives a few blocks away from Brigham Young University, “in a neighborhood where I don’t know a single family who doesn’t have an LDS background,” she said. But at 37, Gledhill is walking away from the faith. It’s a journey that’s infused into the songs on her latest album, “Rabbit Hole,” set to be released Jan. 25. “It’s one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced,” Gledhill said. “And it’s one of the most beautiful and amazing things I’ve ever experienced at the same time.” Her break from her church came from realizing there were things in Latter-day Saint doctrine and history that she felt were too troublesome to ignore. “I lost a lot of sleep over it at night, and ultimately could not reconcile those things,” Gledhill said. “I couldn’t reconcile the church’s stance on LGBTQ individuals. … I feel like there is a lot of racial injustice in church history, and in scripture. And I feel like there’s a lot of misogyny in church history. I feel like I was experiencing an awakening to those things.”

Alma 7:11-12. When we read "death" in this track, we can see that it refeers to spiritual death. The phisical death obviously happened upon the cross, but the spiritual happened within the Gethsemani. There is a whole, logical and astonishing explanation about it in a Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's discourse called "None Were with Him".
