OMG, No! First off, just go buy a weed eater. 2nd, I work with right angle grinders, they are not meant to be used like that without a safety guard. The wire used is going to break off and be launched into your leg. Why do you think weed eaters used nylon string in the first place? You're likely going to end up spending a lot in medical treatment cancelling out any 'savings' in not buying a weed eater.

Not to worry, the airflow will soon be blocked by the cut grass and it'll stop working.
steel wire , no guard , fool
great idea
There is a reason trimmer wire is plastic. As it wears and stresses it will break apart. Plastic is pretty flexable actually. Now think about if you bend a wire 100 times. You can break it. Now think about after this wire fatigues and splinters off at 10000 rpm. That can stick in your leg or worse like a metal dart. Plus metal has a much higher weight so it has more energy when it breaks off flying farther than plastic string. The plastic slows prettys fast as it it light vs its air resistance. Think of a foam nerf dart. Fast at first but slowes quickly vs a bullet. Anyway tired this with speaker wire when i was about 12 to do the yard chores. Figured saved myself from replacing that pesky weed wacker wire. LOL. Nice till little chards of copper stand stuck into my leg. I consider that a cheap, " but painfull" one of many life lessons. LOL. JZ said it best "It's the hard knock life for us"
OMG you owe me 2:57 of my life back

Agreed, why steel cable? I was waiting for his fingers to fly off. Why not just trimmer string? Also, the steel cable was destroying the wooden pickets.

Angle grinders are probably one of the most dangerous power tools in the shop. Congrats bud, you just made yours even more dangerous!

Hey, Luke Mepham ,.....now that your fingers are “loose”, what are you going do ..?
Wow !that looks really safe
I am using such a thing atm actually. Only difference is that mine uses plastic cord so its somewhat safer and I have a large protective circle around it. Like the one that is originally on the grinder, but much larger and with wheels.
Dobre ale trochę niebezpieczne
Looking forward to the video on how to repurpose my edge trimmer into an angle grinder. And no I'm not being serious.
Actually pretty clever!
If I do that all my neighbours would laugh like hell.
While it's an unusual way to use an angel grinder, and obviously effective, it's also incredibly un-safe. There is a reason for the gaurds that they come with. And normal trimmers use a semi soft plastic in case parts break off while in use. Starting it with a bare hand could result in a loss of a finger. Buy a real one and save yourself the potential trip to a hospital.

Don't you like how they didn't show how he destroyed that wooden fence with that. LMAO
Not to mention all safety concerns, the grinder will ingest so much dirt it wont last long.
I realize you're probly not in America and I realize not everywhere has walmart. But seriously... grass trimmers are like 25 bucks.. just buy one

muy buena idea lo del cable de acero los plasticos ahora vienen muy blandito y se rompen cada rato no se me habia ocurrido con cable de acero buenisimo gracias por compartir
This is a bloody awesome idea. To the safety nancies, just remember that some people are capable of taking due care when performing a dangerous activity.

Now go grab your spare industrial piping and welding machine and angle grinder! This hack is gonna save you time and money! So glad I watched this! I've learned so much!

I fqn-luv this guys work. he has all these serious safety-era guys make like donkey. keep it up friend, do it in sandals, did I see an open jerrycan when you were welding? no? get this wallflower worrying about the safety of the lootle pickety fence and calling on the son of god.. ok, truthing now. I did like the twit who used speaker wire but used high-tensile clothesline core instead having half a clue, downside it takes a lot of cutting with a kacksaw but benefit, it lasted a full day. That's in my little Ryobi linecutter, at its best trimming a beech hedge. Obvs never letting any part of self or valued other humans/pets stray within the disc of doom

NICE CONTENT GOOD……
Fantástico
That angle grinder/ Whipper snipper is a monster. I'm surprised it wasn't heaving chunks out of the concrete. Anyway, if you want neat edges, you need to turn that thing 90 degrees and cut down between the concrete edge and the grass. When you do it that way, it looks sensational and the finish is professional and uniform.
Nice gouged up fence you have there.
Super peligroso!
Keep working your inventive side one day it will pay off

excelente ideia. mas tem que colocar algum dispositivo para levantar a entrada de refrigeração da maquina.(tipo quando vamos mergulhar, colocamos um caninho na nossa boca saindo fora da àgua).
Lol...insane!
Genius
Aaahhhahaha! Amazing video! Yo go SON!!! P.S.- You've got guts, turning on the grinder with bare hands! Gnarly!
I did something like this once and burned up to 7 inch Grinders in the process the four and a half inch one works a little better I don't know why but if you do this grinder hack and do your whole yard with it like I did B ready to throw your grinder away. had fun doing it though LOL.
you have to put a mesh or some kind of protection in the air inlets of the polisher, these entrances are covered with the weeds and the polisher can be reheated
It is very very very wonderful, I am pride that in our century we have Nobel, Einstein, Newton too. You have my applause. Thanks...

Cool ideal. But there is a reason weedeater line is plastuc or vinyl. Please use weedeater line next time. Much safer. Probably won't feel good when a piece of that cable gets stuck in your leg or some kids eye that is walking by.
Best idea. Please, use it every day without safetyglasses 💪 Show us what Happens

Look: watching the video alone should have carried a Government Safety warning. If you look at the comments, there are far too many other comments here that call this stupid, reckless and just plain idiotic. When there are bespoke, ready-made machines that will do this job, for far less effort, and relatively cheap outlay - why the heck go to these extremes and risk it anyway?! The machine is home-made, and I bet you no amount of home or personal insurance would cover you in case of injury, accident or straightforward mishap. Jeesh....! Rocket science it definitely ain't!

Many tools are very dangerous, but it is these tools that increase productivity and make society more progressive and competitive. This tool is not more dangerous than other tools.
@alexandraabraham6698
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, many tools are very dangerous, particularly if mis-used, or handled incorrectly. All you need to do safely is to follow the manufacturer's instructions. However, as I said, I doubt this applies to a botched-together, home-made tool comprising of other botched-together and adapted implements. Like I said, just you try claiming on personal health or home insurance for anything that goes wrong with this no-guarantee, cobbled-together piece of bastardized equipment. They'll laugh in your face. Always presuming you still have one. ;)
