    Just an idea, maybe not practical - how about chiseling/cutting away & cementing / mortaring back in, if required, a slight floor incline / slanted tile going from room floor level down deeper towards the lower inside of the doorframe from within the shrimp room, just a little more than the width of the doorway and maybe starting from a foot or so inward, to allow elsewhere for the lino & underlay etc you need, with the area just within the door maybe slightly lacking in whichever insulation, but siliconed sealed etc where it meets the door frame? Trip hazard going out instead of coming in, LoL. Good to see you back in action, enjoyed seeing the progress

    Hi how about putting a stud wall across the garage leaving access through the up and over to the front part to store your bikes and stuff in, you would lose some fish room space but gain storage space and not have to seal the up and over door. cheers Dave

    Suggestion for the floor, plastic embrane to prevent moisture then put down 2X4s as bracers out coconut husk shreaded in between as insolation (plus coconut husk does not rot even if it gets wet. Then cover the 2X4s with apieces of 1/2" plywood. Its how my parents did our basement minus the coconut husk as we didn't know about it then. So you lose only 4 inches tops as a 2X4 is actually 1 3/4 X 3 3/4"

    Great video. Can't wait for the next one. I'm in the process of doing my garage. I was going to partition part of the garage to use as water storage and shelving so it's out of the way. I was also going to use pallet wood but went against it due to the condensation forming and not being able to clean it. So I'll be using composite cladding expensive but I'll be doing it once and its strong enough to drill all sorts to it. You could also use t&g soffit board but this dents easy. I also shall be doing the flooring using visquin,underlay and rubber matting due to height.Great hearing other advice though 🤘

    HE'S BACK!!!!!!!! Would it be possible to do in-floor heating??? Would give insulation and heat the room at the same time without taking up a lot of room. And for the lighting, use recessed lights... you should have enough room to put low profile lights in. And they won't hang down in the way.

  • @SimplyShrimps

    @SimplyShrimps

    3 жыл бұрын

    Indeed!!!! I had thought about doing underfloor eating but I would have to insulate the concrete slab still so the heat is not all lost into the ground. And that would raise the floor too much :( As for lights that’s a good idea and I did it in the kitchen. Will have to decide nearer the time.

    Great to see you back mate and cudos on doing the work yourself its looking great. Liking the ideas on the garage but if i may offer some advice?! Your looking at fitting cold roof insulation so you need to add venting across the joists. If you dont the sweating will rot the roof from the inside out. Check out steve roofer on youtube he explains it really well and is happy to give out advice too. Keep up the hard work mate.
