Pro Tip: Bevel the top, so that you can put a water tight seal on it, and it assures alignment when closed. Whoever the manufacture of these are, they literally did the bare minimum.

They use internal guttering to negate the needing for procession engineering that the beveling would require and helps negate and ground movement.

Could the lift be driven over and would it still have the power to lift with a car parked on top and another car still in the space below?

you can drive over it and park a second vehicle on top, but it is not possible to lift it (both for structural and safety reasons)

Backup system is always installed in such car lifts. Almost all garages have such systems installed.

I bet you can build it yourself between like $10-$20K USD, on thing I’d do tho is have some king hand cranked back up jack to lift it if the power goes out or something

The cost is not too high if you consider tha space you save in the garage and at ground level by not having a concrete ramp going down. Also consider the higher safety and the increased aesthetic of the house (increased value). If you want a more precise estimate please write me a DM.
