We cant protest and talk all we want but ultimately the only way to solve it is to create a direct path out of the hood. The main way being investing heavily in the shit schools that are underfunded in the inner city. And truly getting community leaders who care about us more than a paycheck. I relay appreciate how you don’t vilify or glorify stories about gangs and gang members and instead show them as they truly are, groups of troubled young men and women who happened to find their sense of community in the wrong place. It is not a problem about good or bad individuals, it is that people who grow up in these difficult situations are not given the resources to get out and turn to unsafe alternatives like gangs to feel safety and a sense of belonging.
