    It is likely that the original express lifts was fitted with brass door tracks on every floor and this would have shined in the eyes of any scrap gang. You can tell that the doors are all cat flapping and are missing the bottom door tracks!

    15:20 those are not two tacho's. The one on the outside is the tacho, the one in the center is a winding angle resolver, so the VF drive knows where the windings are compared to the rotor magnets, for efficient start.

    I went to Poo Land once. It was shit. As that first place has been utterly ruined by thieving scum, and they would go to waste, I'd take the PLCs and control computer. I was surprised by how good part of that old second building looked, and there was even stuff in the office.

    Any info on how long this building has been abandoned since? Considering the EcoDiscs I’ll guess this was abandoned in the early-mid 2010s.

  • @benolifts

    @benolifts

    i don't think it has been abandoned for very long. It used to be in mint condition with German Bauwatch cameras protecting it. One of my friends spotted the building was open, and was a bit stripped but still pretty nice. I came to visit a week later. Within that week the buildings condition had completely changed. Within 1 week the scrappers had ripped the entire place apart and ruined it. The building is beyond repair. There is only 2 things that can be done with it. Either it has to be stripped to its frame and rebuilt into flats, however this will need to be done quickly before the water damage destroys it. But more likly, the building will be pulled down.

    @@benolifts Really sucks how fast vandals and dodgy people can trash a building. Guess it depends on ease of access. For example those offices above the car park are in better condition since in order to access, lift knowledge is required.

    The building's substation was still powered, and it was humming, indicating that power was being used somewhere. This could mean there were live wires exposed in the building, as the gang scrappers don't care about scrapping it safely. With the amount of copper removed, there was no power to the lift motor rooms. Only 1 of the lifts in the building was potentially in working condition (inspection only) which was the middle ecodisc (would have to be triple bypassed due to the doors being cat flapped). All the other lifts were either cable cut, or were trashed beyond a condition of which they could operate.

    There is a Shoe Factory in Norwich, front door completely smashed through, all the wire insulation was on the floor, and there was nothing interesting left. But it wasn't in as bad condition because this is Norwich, and people don't just shit on the floor for no reason (but they do piss on the floor). Btw how do you get on the roof of council flats, I can get into the communal areas but Norwich City Council somehow isn't negligent enough to leave the doors to the roof or motor room unlocked, and the other flats got the gate. I understand if you don't want to tell me, incase this knowledge gets to the wrong hands, but I just want it to have a good view for photography, as I'm not confident enough to walk into the office towers of Norwich yet.

    @@JP_TaVeryMuch There was an abandoned office building with Indian security guards that me and a friend wanted to explore, so he distracted security so they would leave the building, and I just walked in. Unfortunatelly, all the doors to the stairwells were locked, and I found myself trapped in Security's break room. I inevitably got caught, and the clueless security thought I was ment to be there, but then I started being autistic and didn't play along, instead I started going "CIVIL TRESPASS" and "FALSE IMPRISONMENT" instead of just playing along and taking the lifts to the upper floor. Now the building is getting demolished, and is getting fenced up, it took so much courage to walk into the building, and it failed miserably.

    @@mushroomcraft Practise makes perfect! You've reminded me of when I got into Glastonbury the free way. A trustie crustie had set up some ladders but was charging a tenner. One mate said he wasn't paying and went off to climb on his own. Didn't see him till the following day. He'd only gone and dropped into the Police Dog Pound! The coppers thanked him for a good laugh and sneaked him in themselves!
