my mother was in a relationship with duke, his brother that was murdered. she told me she was there when he got killed, that he was the love of her life, & how she has never loved a man like she loved duke..the whole incident affected her so much, she left California &just recently went back to visit a few years ago. idk how she found this video, but it breaks my heart to see her relive that nightmare.

Sandy_ She that’s the part that I’m not sure about. My mom said there was never a baby, commodores gf name was Claudia, and it was over 40yrs ago. Idk y anyone would make that up, but his sister Trisha was and still is my moms best friend, and even she said he didn’t have a baby at tht time. My mom went to visit just last year, she got his # but said he nvr answered. But she didn’t even kno he was homeless until this video came out. 🤷🏽‍♀️

People think folks in the hood are a bunch of dummies, that's shit ain't true. Alot of these guys are brilliant especially with money and the drug trade. Some guys gamble on the stock exchange, some gamble in the streets. These guys from the hood dont have much of a choice, sometimes

I watch these stories almost daily. Real life is infinitely more fascinating than anything fictional. This one cut deep because im from L.A and i'm the same age as this brother. the life he described was blueprinted for all young black men at that time , no matter what part of the city you lived in. It stalked us like death on a pale horse. I wear my snow white facial hair proudly because i lived thru the hell that was black los angeles in the 70s & 80s.

Amen. I'm from Daygo, and Y'all are fathers age and crack and his lack of holding his self responsible robbed me of a father and now 30 years later, just last week I found out my father had another baby girl he hid from the world who is one year older than I, who also was robbed out of a father, and her mother who spent 20 years in prison and my own mother who has been off and on drugs for over 20 years. I am one of the many childern who suffered many traumatic experiences due to how life was intentionally set up for millions of black men and women all over the united States. I've started writing my book bc these things are powerful eye openers as you look back and if you are still around to EVEN look back and reflect.

@@d.biancaklinglesmith6932 It started in the generation who birthed us in the 60s. The sexual revolution, welfare , legal abortion , no fault divorce , desegregation and the illusion of opportunity rocked the black baby boomer generation to sleep. My mother and father owned one of the first CENTURY 21 franchises in south L.A. they bought it in the mid 70s and they amassed over thirty pieces of real estate including 2 apartment buildings in santa monica ca. 3 blocks from the beach. By 1995 it was all gone. They fucked it all off. And when my siblings and i asked them what the hell was going on you know what they said? " this is MY SHIT, I GOT MINE -YOU GET YOURS and GOD BLESS THE CHILD THAT GOT HIS OWN". no thought of generational wealth , or security for their children or grand children. nothing for the next generation...nothing. and that story is common among the children of the black baby boomers. They left us nothing to work with. By the mid 80s all most of us had was a bag of dope to smoke or sell. Im writing a book too...these stories must be told.

He has nothing like the ego that some of his gang-affiliated peers seem to have, he isn't a burned-out drug fiend who's barely making sense... I have watched a lot of these videos and this one changed my view of skid row and some of the people living there. It never occurred to me that me the police are aware of what goes on down there. I assumed that the prostitution and drug abuse was hidden. I was shocked when he said the police see the behavior and keep going. It's amazing how personable he seemed. I hope he finds the peace and normalcy he seeks.

Yes, we as people do terrible things. We hurt one another in unimaginable ways. This shouldn’t be life, but it is. All we can do is learn, make peace with ourselves, and proceed on a new path and way of being. Mr. I want you to know that you are not your burdens. You are not your mistakes. Grow beyond your suffering, bc you are so much more. As a human, I love you and I believe in you. There’s a light at the end of this darkness, and it can be reached now, during this life! Peace and Blessings onto you Sir.

Commodore, I love the name. And like every person who was watching, I offer my condolences. I can't imagine the lose of a child. I to would have it in my heart to seek retribution. We're only human, I've come to find that the love between a child and parent is sacred. I can't image the emptiness of having to say goodbye to so many people you love. What made you decide to serve our country? We hear so many stories of young men from harsh environments never do anything with their lives. You need some self LOVE, YOU NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF, GOD FORGAVE YOU THE SECOND YOU ASKED TO BE FORGIVEN. Life is harsh, but you've done your time, you deserve to be happy. I think you just NEED LOVE LIKE THE REST OF US. GOD bless you and may he surround you with his ANGELS. Much LOVE from this CHICANA😀🙏

@@yamomma6479 No tears, we have to save those for the other people we learn about. I am from CA. The city I lived in is now having a "PROBLEM" with homelessness. They have some unkind words, ok, straight- up disrespectful shit to talk. It hurts, so I used my intellect to tell them what kind of human beings they were, but I think the majority of them couldn't comprehend the definition of the words😀. But, I did direct them to watch Mark and give it a few minutes before they judge. I explained how the people on skid row live and how their upbringing, or lack thereof, effected who it is they are and how abuse has no discrimination. Maybe, just maybe it will make them pause and see NO ONE IS PERFECT AND WE ALL HAVE OUR STORY TO TELL. God bless you for having a big heart and understanding we all just need to be humble and not judge so harshly. 💖🙏

I'm not the kind of person to speculate, I don't think he's trying to make someone believe something that isn't true. I think he was being honest. And if he wasn't being totally honest it makes no difference on how we live our lives. We listen and usually we cry, I feel bad for his loss, and being young in the system I can't imagine I've met people whom been able to handle themselves while incarcerated. And I've heard horrific stories. I'd hate to be a man, especially black or brown, the shit they have to deal with my God. I'm starting a whole different conversation. I just wish people the best, KARMA is definite.
