Ғылым және технология

Today after many requests we're taking a look at the 3400G's baby brother, the new 3200G APU from AMD. With 4 cores, 4 threads and integrated Vega 8 graphics this $100 CPU is sure to be a popular choice among those on a budget. I've put together a budget gaming build with this new processor at the center, so it's time to see what it can do!

AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
Radeon Vega 8 Graphics
Patriot Viper 4 8GB (2 x 4GB) 3000MHz DDR4 RAM
ASRock B450M-HDV Motherboard
Kingston A400 480GB SSD
EG Ar39 Micro-ATX Tower Case
Kolink Core Series 300W 80 Plus Certified Power Supply

I've seen the 2200G drop down to $60 at a shop a couple hours drive away. I imagine at that price difference the 2000g is better value even though it's weaker. The gaming potential-to-price ratio is getting crazy these days. So many playable games for so little money.

Have a little 3200g on an asrock itx board as my bedroom pc for a while now, just had a play around with the setup a bit. I saw a 28% increase (in sottr) by tuning timings and frequencies. Running 4.0GHz 1.4v, 3600mhz ram with tuned timings and 1700mhz @ 1.18V for the gpu. I never really intended this thing to do anything other than streaming youtube and netflix but have been enjoying a bit of Alien Isolation, Metro 2033 and SotTR. Very impressed by this little chip!

I built my budget pc in march 2019, everything new except for the xfx rx480 8gb gtr which I got for 85 eur(sic!). At the end of 2021 i saw a 3200g for sale for 40 eur and snatched it up right away. Sold my 2200g for 80 after 3 hours of posting the ad. 2 weeks ago I saw a 2600 for sale at 115, which is just about what it's worth, bought it, and sold the 3200g for 80 within 2 days(had numerous offers, over half of them were riddiculous lowballs like 35 or 40). Because I had bought a Wraith Prism cooler for 10+4 with shipping. I consider my upgrade from 2200g to 2600 about 5 eurs, which gave around 50% cpu performance. These APU's are in demand right now because a 1030 will cost around 60 eurs already, and 3400g goes for 160-180 eur around here yet it gives 10% more performance FPS wise.

This CPU is only suitable for budget builds. The very best budget GPU right will add an extra $200 to your build not to mention that you have to get at least a R5 2600 CPU for your build to make sense. No point pairing an APU with a discrete GPU. Unless you want to get into the second hand market then it's a different topic but that's always a gamble.

That's a pretty solid, easily upgraded-down-the-line PC for under 300 bananas. Expansion options everywhere when money allows. CPU could be upgraded to a 24/rumoured 32 thread down the line. Ram could be upgraded to 16 or 32GB with the old Ram sold to make some cash back. And any top of the line GPU that doesn't blow up the PSU would fit after.

Consider the "forgotten" Ryzen 3 1200 combined with a RX 570 4GB, cheap B350 etc. comes around the same price (depends on region). A RX 570 eats the VEGA 8 for breakfast. Btw APUs benefit from faster, usually more expensive, RAM more as CPUs combined with a discrete GPU.

It would be nice to see how much money is necessary to get a used mobo/cpu/ram/gpu to edge the 3200g performance, or what can you achieve with the same money spent on the 3200g + mobo and ram if going used!

Can you pair the ryzen 3 2200g with a gtx 660ti is like to see how well that build is before I buy a motherboard that I can actually use my 660ti in.
