Games You Thought Were Good......... But They Suck Now

Ойындар

We all have classic games that we spent hours upon hours grinding away, memorizing the levels and tasting that sweet victory. In the moment we may have thought those games were classics, games that you could pick up 20 years down the road and show off how amazing it is and re live that nostalgic memory. Welp, today those nostalgic memories smell like crap. I'm talking about those 10 outta 10's, the games you talked about at recess with your friends. Those games suck now. It's true. The same stuff that was revolutionary is now dated, old and barely worth playing today. I can't wait to share this list with all of you. You're gonna love it.

A comment regarding Goldneye... I agree. I actually went back and played through Turok on n64. After many years of not playing it still felt like some grand adventure. The fog, the getting lost... And the amazing weapons. Just an awesome game. Bonus fact - the guy that created the turok soundtrack released his original files last year. Amazing quality. Its on youtube.

I have to agree with the 8 games on this list not aging well. I didn’t have a N64 back in the day but I do now and playing games in that library can be tuff if you don’t have nostalgia for them. Great video! Cheers 🍻

Haha, these are still some of my favorite games, but yeah, totally a funny topic for retro games. The Metroid example is especially true for those who have played the later versions which were much improved. I still remember the feeling first beating Metroid and seeing the ending though. Those were the days!

I love NES Metroid, and it's not about nostalgia, because I only dedicated myself to the game in recent years, even though I had it since the 90's. As a kid I had no patience to explore it. The absense of map doesn't bother me at all. What is frustrating, however, is what you mentioned about having to grind for energy EVERY TIME you re-start the game. That was some stupid and annoying choice. But you can play it with save states, these days. Emulators, NES classic. As for the rest of your list, I do agree with GoldenEye and Tomb Raider. Games that I would put on MY nostalgia list: Sonic games for the Mega Drive (Yes, ALL of them, specially the FIRST) and Doom 2 (Too many maps there are just pure cryptic torture).

You killed 14 years of my earliest memories in just 14 minutes... heck, is this what you do when you take a few weeks off ?!? 😜 But yeah... i just recently fired up some classics on my C64mini and... OH BOY! I remember games like "last ninja", where you spent most of the night, waiting while it loads from cassette, the old sound was sooo amazing. Hell, you didn't even dare to switch off that machine for days to complete a game. Now on emulation, even though the controlls suck, you're done like in 10 minutes 🙄 Memory is a b**ch...

Ha ha ha--what a great list. It IS easy to pick on games from the N64 and PS1 era but yeah, those were transitional periods--an age of gaming trying to move from 2D to 3D with a lot of learning to be done on the fly. Dude, I NEVER got into Goldeneye and even now it's inevitable that someone always wants to try and play it and it's clear it's never as fun as they remember. Rampage--like so many arcade quarter munchers, definitely fun for a couple of minutes and then it's time to try something else. That said though, having had our wedding reception in an arcade, Rampage was the first game Lady Laci and I played as a married couple. I do love me some Final Fantasy but agree that 7 has NOT aged well. A great game and a stunning entry...for its time. But now, not so much. So happy to have the remake, even if it takes so many liberties.

Nice to see you back Chris. I have a friend actually looking to get into the Metroid series because of Dread. I told her to skip the Nes one as it's not that good and just start with Super Metroid. As for my pick. I'm going to go with Battletoads. As a kid I thought it was one of the best games ever. But playing it now it really is not that good. It doesn't know what genre of game it wants to be. Am I a beat em up? A racer? A shoot em up? Talk about an identity crisis. And playing it co-op is near impossible. It's just not a good game. On a side note, thanks for your kind words the other day. And yes it would be cool as hell if we could chill and all that. Cheers Chris!

Lol. It's honestly an easy video to.make because many older games laid the groundwork for modern games, but what's most interesting is how amazing they seemed at the time. Now, it's really odd going back and playing them and trying to imagine spending hours upon hours grinding away. A great example is the N64 wrestling games. I love them and still play them to this day. I am going through the championship modes as of right now actually. But I play for an hour and I'm ready for something else. But in the late 90's, I played for days at a time lol. Times just change
