You’ll notice that Micah laughed and didn’t feel betrayed saying “You shot me good” like he anticipated it to happen sooner or later. He would’ve done the same thing to Dutch so I guess it was the game of seeing who had a trigger finger first.

It was pretty much who felt who was going to be useless first. Micah would’ve eventually killed Dutch when he had the chance, because he had his own gang he could’ve ran heists with. He most likely kept Dutch around, because Dutch probably knew the best spots to rob and once he ran out of good information, Micah would’ve shot him to a grave six feet under.

Pretty sure Dutch just happened to be visiting Micah at this particular time to "make plans". But Dutchs comment to john that he was there for the same reason as John, and the wanted poster for Dutch that Micah owns, implies they were both there for other reasons

For those who were just as confused as the last guy. It's implied that Dutch only contacted Micah recently, maybe even on the very same day we appear (Micah said something about all manner of folks paying social calls). He didn't stay with Micah for a few years and just randomly kills him now. He came back to Micah TO kill him. On John's question "what are you doing here" Dutch answers: "same as you, i suppose". That alone should clear up his true intentions, Micah was just either too stupid or too caught up in the moment to realize that Dutch just admitted that he is here to kill him.

for some time I felt the same but there is one more possibility......here it is, Dutch knew that Micah killed Arthur back in camp when Arthur came back for money or Micah took the key of his chest from Arthur's body. That makes it clear that Micah has Gang's money; and Dutch thought maybe John came for the money as well, hence, "Same as you, I suppose".... But in the end he could see that he was alone and John was with Sadie and Charles, so he dropped the idea for money and let John take it..... or maybe for once, Dutc actually didn't act selfish and left the money for Dutch. I know it's not compelling but still it can be a possibility!

Was Dutch only there to kill Micah and avenge Arthur and his gang all along? Micah says him and Dutch are teaming up "again" as if they've just reconnected for the first time since Arthur's death. John is there to kill Micah. John asks Dutch what he's doing there and Dutch says "Same as you I suppose." Then, just shoots Micah allowing John to finish him off as he leaves John and Sadie alone. Dutch doesn't even care about the $20,000 he left in the cabin. I think Dutch was a broken man after losing Arthur and the gang. I think he realized that Arthur was right, that Micah was the root of the gangs destruction, he regretted that he didn't listen to Arthur, and Dutch grew to resent himself for failing his family/the gang and grew to hate Micah.

@@generalgrievous3423 Yeah, but don't you think Micah was a little conflicted when it came to Arthur? Some of his dialogue kinda showed that he wanted Arthur to side with him to do his dirty work. He even called Arthur "Brother" and "family". He saw potential for Arthur to be more ruthless then he is. But the main thing I think with Micah is that even though he hung out with the gang, he wouldn't think twice to shoot any of them to save himself. He was ruthless but I also liked his character. Plus, when he harasses everyone at the camp is gold LOL

I don't get it. R* should have known that most people would be so pissed at Micah that they'd go straight for the head. Pretty sure every reaction questioned his little walk

Cause to Micah it's just part of the "game". That's why he's so evil, he doesn't value anyone or anything so he does what he wants.

I really felt bad for Dutch, he was a good man turned insane because of the things that happened in the gang, losing those people that respect him that he save in the past. He really become Icarus, the character he really loves in one of his favorite books.

Feels like im the only one whos ever played this game who didnt pop Micahs head 20 times to watch him walk with holes all over his face lol

Bro even though I don’t like Dutch that much, him coming out of the cabin was a great moment in the game and him shooting Micah was just as amazing

I've always figured that deep inside Dutch, there's still a good man. He shot Micah, left the money, turned his back on John to where John could've easily shot and killed him, and in the end, Dutch gave John a warning of his fate to the army. Like Dutch says, though, he can't fight his own nature, and so he falls back into being a bad person most of the time.

Dutch is pretty much gone by that time of the game. I do think he was a good man whose narcissistic nature, big ego and mental instability brought the monster within him to surface. I absolutely loved him and it's tough to see him change like that

Without a doubt my favorite moment of the entire game. The standoff with the dialogue, Dutch suddenly shooting Micah, the guitar riff after he gets shot. Flawless tension and a satisfying resolution

I like how everyone shot Micah in the face and questioned why he walked away then dropped dead but in all reality the games mechanic was for him to get shot in the chest then that happen lol

The way Micah says “You shot me pretty good.” sounds so casual

Just finished my first ever play through. Loved the sight of John blasting the Sawn off Shogun in to Micah. First in the chest then in the face nearly swimming in his own blood. FOR ARTHUR!

2:21 that awesome music note when dutch shoots micah is awesome

I swear the first time i killed Micha, it didn’t even feel like enough. Like I was so enrage, and full of revenge. I didn’t care about the consequences. For me, for Arthur’s death, I didn’t go from sad to angry, I went from angry to piss off, to eventually sad after reading his Journal. But in that moment, I was John. And i was just glad to have finally ended the monster of this story.

My friend: "Why are you sooting Micah more than 2 shots? " Me: "For more pleasure"

I feel bad for Dutch man... He isn’t bad, he just let the world’s cruel jokes get to him. He broke when Hosea died and he was like a brother/father to Dutch. And when he was vulnerable, the rat fed him lies.

Might be tripping but I was playing through this game again and noticed you can see this cabin in the distance on the hill while riding to rob the train in Colter. Thought it's kinda cool to glimpse where it all ends as you start.

You don't realise how tall Dutch is until he walks past John

To everybody who is confused about why Dutch shot Micah, remember that they parted when Arthur was about to die. 'Social call' implied that, like the 'social call' between Dutch and Colm, they were having a meeting to solve something after a long time of being apart. Dutch and Micah never worked together after Arthur's death. Dutch left when Arthur was dying while Micah was insisting that they need to get the money. Dutch and Micah parted. In fact, Micah had another group with Cleet and such.

I wore Arthur's hat in this mission in my 1st and 2ed play through it seemed so poetic

Satisfying as headshots are for henchmen, I always liked putting my shots right through Micah's heart in the finale. Seemed more of a definitive Western style finisher for my playthrough and made his little death-walk at the end a little mroe fitting.

I always felt like Dutch having that look after shooting Micah was implying that he was there because of Arthur, maybe a way of making up for his mistakes in the past at least in his own head. It was a long time coming following him seeing Arthur on his deathbed and realizing his own mistake that he couldn't admit. Definitely not saying Dutch was ever a good man but it definitely was personal and I think Arthur had a lot to do with his actions there.

In the end I noticed that Johns wearing Arthur's hat, perfect symbol from rockstar to pay homage to Arthur, a really great way that shows how john reakky cared about him and loved him

I subbed bc i love mixed reactions react

When you truly hate a character and want to kill him yourself, you know they did a good job with that villain.

I remember watching John through my hat he shot micah in the head so many times he's brain started to show

I'm sure there are many ways to interpret Dutch deciding to shoot Micah, but I think it just ultimately solidified what we allready knew about him at this point; Dutch became the killer Milton always said he was, and all those who gave their loyalty to him no longer mattered

I gotta watch u play games now cause that clip of you is so funny

i cried for weeks after arthur dies it was so sad and i couldn’t load the game without crying the music and everything was so sad and reminded me of arthur
