She doesn't have much health, but every time you hit her, Peter just screams, runs to the other side of the room and smacks himself for half the damage you dealt. Also there's a ton of people chasing you and trying to hold you down and when they touch you, your health goes low Good thing is that when you finally kill her, you earn the "monster" outfit, which is Peter dressing up with her aunt's skin, and the game allows you to go on a serial killer rampage that ends with half of New York desolate and the remaining people living in a post-apocalyptic society, crippled by the fear of the deranged Spider Man Or maybe I dreamt that...

Uncle Ben died when Peter doesn’t knew the meaning of responsibility , aunt May died because Peter knew the meaning of responsibility. Superhero dilemma at it’s finest.

Why is this the best Spider-Man ever? Responsibility! He made that sacrifice so the people he swore to protect may live. While we’re all going to miss Aunt May, it was the right call to move on. That’s what true strength is and Insomniac knew that since they themselves love Spider-Man as much as the fans do.

He was gonna but he knew aunt may would not want her life to come in the way of millions. Aunt may and spiderman were the heroes here. I would have been okay with just saving may but then greater good, being a hero requires the personal sacrifice. Selflessness, your brothers keeper. True heroism. Excellent storyline for real.

The doc Oc scene hit harder for me than the Aunt May one. I mean it's sad but I saw it coming. Doc Oc's connection to Peter was refreshingly deep and entangled. What an amazing villain. Disney/Marvel could learn a thing or two from this game.

I felt very sad for Otto because he has no one for him, I know he's a villain and caused aunt may's death but, have your part of the projects of your life being stolen by your own friend/partner is so painful, and losing your only friend/apprentice for a huge mistake you did and in a couple of months lose the functions of your body is so sad. And aunt May scene made me feel like I was losing someone close to me, like since I was young I've loved and I still love spider-man in a way that aunt May is special to me just like uncle Ben. For these reasons i think this game is Perfect.

And this is why this game deserves the "best spider-man story" title out of all the movies and video games. It shows the hard choices Peter has to make, and no one knows about it except for a few people.

You can really feel the moral decision Peter had to make. He wanted to save Aunt May but doing so would condemn million of people to death. Once again being a super hero you always have to make the toughest choice and those choices are not happy ones. To Peter even though he saved million of people and it was a victory for the superhero Spiderman it was not a victory for the human being Peter Parker who lost his only relative. Why did this game make me cry.

Martin Li would definitely be hurt knowing May died… I’m so glad how clear the game makes it that Martin is both extremities of one’s humanity. His anger and negativity fuel Mister Negative, but the Martin Li who started and supported F.E.A.S.T is also the real Martin. His letter to May was so heartbreaking to read. He was honest and he really loved May for who she was and all that she did, but he couldn’t set his anger and pain aside to live the life he could have as the image of the billionaire philanthropist.

Ngl I literally cried when aunt may died. That just goes to show that being a hero isn't always going to be fun and games.

@@superidoluwu it should have been, if you played, the walking dead game, the first one of telltale. Thats how you make the death of a loved character. Literally, lee died and nobody hated it, but joels death just feels out of place, random, not justified from the perspective of Joel and made for the simple reason of shock. Also, as a whole, tlou2 has lazy writing, thats why you see many people explaining what happenned, doesnt have an identity at all, only graphics, and, this cant be denied, isnt a game. The definition of a game is meant to be fun and other terms, but tlou2 violates this term, so its not a game. Its a story, a shitty story, but a story.

Replacing him in the original game was a shitty choice. Some scenes he does look more expressive, but most others he doesn't. I'm hoping with 2 they solve that issue since they're making new expressions made specifically for that model

I love that there wasn't a choice at the end, because there never was a choice for Peter. He's a symbol for what is right and just more than any other hero. May putting Pete first by not telling him that she knew reminded him of what it means to be that hero, and that neither his duty nor debt to the city made him choose, but his love for people and giving May the noble death she deserved. I love this character so much man

Yuri Lowenthal is definitely one of if not my favorite Peter Parker and Spider-Man. He really put a lot of character and emotion into the character.

I hate that when I first played this game I didn't even watch the Movies and didn't really know shit. Playing it now knowing about everything. Oof. Hits deep.

3:40 - I will never forget the first time I got to this scene. Peter's reaction gets me every fucking time. It's like he couldn't believe that Ock knew all along, and then it hit him, Ock knew all along and still did what he did. The story coming full circle in that regard is such good storytelling.

The Year is 2023 and still there is no Better Game that Perfectly Represent "SPIDERMAN" like this one, hands down its THE GOAT.

It’s that scene with aunt May that showcases why SpiderMan is one of the best heroes out there. They show his human moments so much more. They show that beneath that suit is a man who has lost so much and has had to sacrifice so much for the sake of others. This is why SpiderMan will always be one of if not the best superheroes ever.

I loved how we got to grow to like Otto just to make his fall from grace hurt that much more and even when he's getting thrown in prison I still felt bad. You just wish that him and Peter had more time to get it right, but we all knew from the start what was going to happen.

It was not predicted it was planned. Insomniac was conditioning you to accept face masks and be a good little sheep. This games story was trash - complete propaganda. This game was absolutely beautiful..the acting..the voices..absolutely immaculate..

After getting the PS5 this Christmas and playing Spider-Man PS4 remastered, and watching a video of the ending with the new face model prior to that, I can say without a doubt that the old face model for Peter is way more expressive than this new one they have. Especially the ending fight with Doc Ock and Aunt May’s death.

I'm 38, just played this first time about two months ago, and had to explain to my 5yo son "why daddy is crying so badly" when Aunt May's monitor went flatline. When he came and gave me a big hug, and saw a tear in HIS eye, I knew I was raising my boy right:)

@@mithruikka PS5 Spidey's animations also has really wack facial anims during the Otto scene specifically. He's basically completely mute emotion-wise. He just kinda... stares contemptibly, despite being flooded with emotion in the scene in question.

Yeah, it’s hard to hate him seeing as they gave him a backstory that makes you get attached to him, but than again, it hard to feel bad for him seeing as he’s the guy who KILLED AUNT MAY!!! Lock him up!

I think this really hit hard because Spidey is always so positive and with a joke ready for any moment. He was created to be always kind of motivational, to represent that strength to do the right thing but at a “everyday person” level. So to hear him break, really makes you understand how much this hits him, so it hits us directly as well. Really good scene.

Everyone says batman has the darkest past, but peter is alone. He has no one. His whole family is gone. He probably the most alone and depressed person ever yet he keeps saving people. *that* is a hero, someone who against all odds, no matter what they’ve lost, continues saving people even though he was never able to save those closest to him.

Don't mistake me for a batman fanboy (I actually like both spiderman and Batman), all of what you said can also be applied to Batman. Both of them had lost their family and sometimes failed to save them but continue to fight.

when Aunt May said "when you help someone, you help everyone" it was one of the best in-game quotes that was stuck in my head. when i saw that quotes on her tombstone i just started crying like a baby

I’ve seen this scene so many times….. it still hurts every time I see it.

I've played through this game 5 times, and each time the ending makes me cry. Even watching this got me. Sorry Breath of the Wild, I think this is my game of the generation.

One of the greatest things this game has done to portray his character was how even after coming out victorious and saving New York, he still ends up having to be the one carrying the most pain. With both the death of Aunt May and in a sense, the death of Otto who he looked up to so dearly. Amazing

The voice acting was superb in this game.

When that girl said “ I don’t wanna play anymore”. I felt that.

As a madman once said... "The hardest decisions, require the strongest wills"

oh this poor Peter... Imsoniac did him so dirty, first they killed his aunt, then they changed his face

I was so sad, but it had to happen, May, you inspired your nephew to be the great man we know he grew up to be. And with your best line made him be the hero the city deserves, R.I.P. “When you help someone, you help everyone.”

Everybody else at the end: "this is such a good game!" Sarah Carlos: *audibly losing her shit*

"What, Spider-Man don't have any friends who can help him out?" Dude, it's Spider-Man, he NEVER has friends. If he did, being a superhero would be easy, and that's his whole schtick: being a hero ain't easy nor rewarding.

he's practically family to the fantastic four in the comics though

"I'll be trapped in this USELESS BODY" this could be foreshadow for after the spiderman 3 game...if it ever happens, because in the comics, there is a comic where doc-oc is dying and he switches minds with Peter Parker

2018 was easily one of the best years of gaming but also the most depressing

Oh God Lowenthal's voice makes Peter so good

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the moment Peter was thinking about giving Aunt May the serum, his face was covered by the shadow. When he decides not to give her the serum and steps away, the light shines on his face once again. Not sure if there is any hidden meaning behind it, but if it was, then it is a very nice touch.

Me - experiencing emotional turmoil and admiration for the events of the game and the amazing performances delivered by the VA. Then 11:47 hits me, cracked me the fuck up 😂

The only death in a video game that hurt almost as much as this was Joel’s daughter Sarah in TLOU. This hurt more simple because I’ve read Spider-Man comics since early 90s. What a performance!

This game was so brilliant, so heartbreaking. It just broke everyone. That’s good storytelling.

When I was playing I thought they were going to give me a choice at the end, but I am so happy they didn't. Peter sacrificing aunt May to save thousands of New Yorkers perfectly fits his character

This scene alone is better than all mcu spider-man movies. (My unpopular opinion) Edit: well this didn't age well...

This has got to be one of the best games of all time for me. Other superhero games should strive to be like this.

The part where Peter said “I don’t know what to do” really got me and then on the miles morales one at the end where miles ask Peter “does this job get any easier” and Peter tells him “sometimes” that also hit hard
