this theory was proved wrong in the first 5 minutes of chapter 2, where it’s confirmed darkners are objects brought to life by the fountain. jevil is most likely one of the joker cards, while spamton is spam mail personified

I think that's just Kris. That's the moment Chara, or whatever entity, gives Kris the power to reload saves. So I think before that we were Kris, the creepy quiet kid who's nice, but after that moment we're Kris the creepy quiet kid who's nice but prone to being posessed by evil. I wonder if anyone has done a saveless playthrough of Deltarune?? edit: looked it up, doesn't matter.

"No one can choose who they are in this world" is an oddly specific choice of words. No one from this world can and yet player decides who Noelle is by the end of chapter 2. Player is indeed not from this world. I am absolutely in love with this disassociation between player and Kris. Also the ball of junk is probably Ralsei and that's how he came to the cyber-world

If his theory is true, and Toby is following this storyline (Which I hope he is, I wanna see Wandavision and Omori in Undertale form), then Susie actually foreshadowed it. If you accept Ralsei's call to adventure, Susie will decline, saying to Kris that if they want to continue playing pretend in this world, then they go right ahead or something along those lines.

Another possible context clue to everything discussed here can also be found in "Don't Forget": the song that plays at the end credits. Although the song is short, the lyrics acknowledge the sense of (Kris') depression and imagination: "When the light is running low/And the shadows start to grow/And the places that you go/Seem like fantasy..." I also hear "Don't Forget" as someone reassuring Kris that everything will be okay ("I'm with you in the dark"), but it is difficult to tell which character in Deltarune would say that.

I'd think it's another pointer into the "it's something normal, different from Undertale" argument. Like if you think of all caps as screaming then deltarune is toned down, it's in the shadow of undertale, no doubt.

Also in Deltarune, Susie mentions that even when she eats food during their adventure, it does not fill her up, adding to the theory that the whole thing is a game and not "real"

But it kinda is possible, i mean if ralsei really is kris's head band then it explains why he looks like asriel and have similar name, you know, since the reason why toriel gave kris the headband is because he thinks he's a monster. He wants to be a monster. He wants to be like his brother, thus explain the similarity between ralsei and asriel. And the moment when kris realize that he's not a monster is when he gets into the school, when he start learning, that he's in fact a human. And he accept it, and to put his childhood fantasy along with old memory of asriel who's leave him, away. So he put his headband on the most forgettable places. the dark place where broom's hang(and be touched by a crime loving teenager), the school's closet. And that's why ralsei said that he's been waiting for the heroes to come for a long time, he's been waiting for for Kris, for his friend to come. That's why kris hesitate to enter the closet, he knows of what waiting inside. His fantasies, his memories, his headband. So there you have it folks deltarune is the story of a boy's ruined fantasy and a lonely headband. But that's just a theory a game theory. Thanks for reading Also it's makes sense why kris wants to get rid any memories of his brother. It's because it's hurts him. Just like the time when kris drink a hot chocolate from the diner. @Jevil deltarune No, there is no egg in the fridge at first, only a pickle, if you put the egg in the fridge and create another save file, that egg will still be in the fridge, and if you get an egg again from the man, you can pu that egg in the fridge as well , thus giving you two eggs.

I think the reason why kris rips THEIR heart out at the end is because being with ralsei brought back painful memories.

I only just now learned about Oni's existence but: Rest In Peace my guy, you deserved happiness and I hope you've found some in whatever comes next.

Here's another peice of evidence that's overlooked! In Undertale, alphys states that Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 is worse than the original. But in Deltarune's library, theres an anime review by an "anonymous yellow dinosaur" that states Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 is better than the original. NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS YALL

I believe this is a callback to Toby Fox specifically calling Deltarune a parallel universe to Undertale. It would make sense because in Undertale, Alphys LOVES Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 and hates the original, but the parallel would be the opposite of that. That said, I think it's just an easter egg to the original Alphys from Undertale since from my watching of this I didn't see any other easter eggs to her other self. Good job calling this out!

A lot of people are saying that asriel is not a twisted guy who hates humans but no asriel never hated humans it was chara on the contrary, in undertale when asriel took chara s body in the overworld he had the power to destroy all the humans and chara wanted to because chara s soul was still with asriels and asriel was resisting and trying not to hurt the humans so in deltarune i think asriel isnt the same because doesnt exist yet there since chara is filled with determination and determination can change things while susie tells us many times : " Your choices dont matter"

I think deltrarune is an alternate timeline (where there was no war) that is affected by the genocide route of undertale. Chara and Kris have the same color shirt so I think Toby is trying to link them that way. Chara is jumping timelines and possessing Kris in there moment of weakness. Chara did say she was going to do that at the end and didnt give the player a choice in the matter. Also, this is a stretch but the ONLY character we dont kill in Undertale is Alphys. Remember those locked doors in delta rune? Maybe Alphys also jumped the timeline to follow and stop Chara and is hiding out there. (Alphys in the classroom is not the same person). The dark world is probably somehow the link between the two worlds (chapter 2 seems to open up this possibility)

15:24 The whole thing about Jevil being driven insane by the Knight is completely wrong, since Jevil mentions "kings" in dialogue, so he was insane before the Knight even came to the Dark World to make the King Of Spades crazy. When Seam mentions the person that drove Jevil crazy, he didn't say the Knight or even mentions in the Knight in any vagueness, instead he said "my view of this world becomes darker, yet darker". This means Jevil was driven insane by everyone's non-existent character, W.D Gaster

my favorite character is the Jevil because even though he is very jokingly an enemy and is very memey and acts goofy he feels very very lonely because of how chris locks him away eternally in his own cage while he is dealing with his cage of emotions very interesting

Well, now we know that it’s not the case. We find out that the “Knight” is creating the fountains, and whatever’s in that dark world is based off of the surroundings of the location in the light world.

@@bloodbane6998 They aren't related. If the first chapter is anything to go by, Ralsei is nothing more than a figment of Kris' imagination. Unless you're referring to Chara and Asriel, they lived together as siblings for a very short while, but not from babyhood, so Chara at least, if not both wouldn't think of the other as siblings, just friends. Whereas we don't know when Kris was adopted, so he might think of Asriel as a sibling.

And I like how (I think) you switch between using she and him for Kris

This theory was actually really good, but it was decomfermed in chapter 2. Some points I believe: -Susie is poor and hungry -Since we now have a confirmed 7 chapters, Asriel will come back in the last chapter

It’s interesting how much of this is disproved by Chapter 2. Even the pacifist/aggressive side changes things with the Snowgrave path.

I always thought jevil was locked up, because you usually don't use a joker when playing with a deck of cards. I found that funny when I first figured that out. I also just found out that jokers are used in poker, witch would make sense for WHY he's locked up. It's usually not played by kids, and the definition I searched up even said it was a wild card.

OKAY so everyone's aware of the whole thing where, when you defeat Sans at the end of the Genocide Route, the wound it leaves looks a whole lot like its bloody. Combined with the fact that we don't actually see him die, and his awareness of the nature of SAVEing/LOADing, many have speculated Sans isn't fully monster, and has some human element. But that was all just blind speculation around a seemingly anomalous character who both uses magic and has an organic body. Until now. 'Cause, see, Delta Rune introduced us to beings who can use magic and have blood: Darkners. Lancer knows, or at least thinks, the heroes have blood. He says he's gonna "turn them into blood" and even has a bucket to clean up said blood. Susie doesn't correct him because the conversation is framed around Lancer learning to be more badass/intimidating from her, so she's not concerned with the accuracy of the statement. And we know that people from Kris's world know what blood is, and have the same rules as in Undertale, that being that only humans have blood. This is shown by someone in the town recognizing Kris as "the human who lives at the top of town" and asks them if it hurts to be made of blood. Yet, Lancer naturally thinks that crushing the heroes would leave a bloody mess, and we're suspiciously unable to kill any Darkners, so we never see anyone die or turn to dust. In fact, Lancer even knowing what blood is raises suspicions, because Darkners otherwise seem identical to monsters, and there's no indication they know what a human is. But most importantly, to me, Ralsei doesn't correct Lancer. Just about every other time Lancer says something erroneous, Ralsei calls it out. But he doesn't so much as comment on Lancer thinking there'd be blood from crushing the heroes, meaning that, as far as Ralsei knows, there would be. What this means is that Darkners can use magic and bullets, even manipulate the space a SOUL-heart moves in (in much the same way Sans does), but also have blood. Want one more piece of evidence? Darkners have colored dialogue portraits, while monsters from both Kris's world and Frisk's world have black-and-white dialogue portraits. Sans, who would be the only Darkner in Undertale if this theory is true, conveniently has an actually black-and-white head. In other words, we wouldn't know if his portrait was coloured. As people have pointed out, the fast-travel doors in the Dark World have the same shifting light under them as the door to Sans's room in Undertale, a room that Papyrus said "looks like another world," and which is totally black when you first enter. Combined with Sans's mysterious ability to teleport around via "shortcuts," an ability that Lancer seems to share and Rouxls openly demonstrates, it seems highly likely he's using the Dark World to get around. People have been speculating that the photo of three smiling people in Sans's workshop could be the heroes of Deltarune... the ending theme of which closes with the lyric "Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark,"... so this photograph would be of the Fun Gang who traverse the Dark World... and spawns based on FUN values relating to a character who talks about her neighbor Suzy... and this photograph has "don't forget" written on the back... THE PRIMARY WAY TO PEACEFULLY DISPATCH DARKNERS IS TO GET THEM TIRED AND MAKE THEM FALL ASLEEP, JUST LIKE HOW YOU BEAT SANS. Posted on Reddit by -u/ComplexVanillaScent
