Matpat, you still miss one thing: TALL. The artist did an AMAZING job, this bird-pokémon looks absolutely incredible, but... it's WIDE, not TALL. Longer legs, longer and more "feminine" torso... the bird, again: looking incredible, looks way too short.

yes as soon as I saw how short and squat the new bird pokemon is, I was pretty sure it didn't fit within Mark's range of preference ;) just based on what I saw in this video alone. I never paid attention to mark before now... lol what I learned about markiplier from this video is about 20 times more than I knew before watching this xD Matt just make yor new pokemon taller and you got it!

Also Auntie Nyan Nyan. He went nuts for her because she was so tall she had to bend below the ceiling. So like 11ft or 12 ft tall. Also extremely powerful as she boasted about being on of the oldest eldritch horrors in existence and threatened to tear him apart for messing with her nieces. It helped a lot that she had a very mature voice as well and commanded respect. Plus she and Dimetrescu are both elegant and respectful ladies in long white gowns. So, tall, powerful, mature, elegant, feminine, and violent towards him.

Yeah, I think the tallness is a factor. The data might not say that he likes em' tall, but as matpat said in his last video, you cant exactly tell the height by the design. So its more about proportions. The bird there is about as wide as it is tall, a square-like figure. Which makes it not look very tall. Meaty, but short looking. Who knows, if Mark had a sense of scale, maybe he'd like the bird as it was... But he was given a nice slender tall body, and a beautiful bird face with flowers, and he chose both those aspects.

To be honest, I saw one of the iterations with side posture, where the Pokemon looks more flirty to the side that I think Mark would actually fall into it. The chosen forms seems too.... Serious. And I think that was the problem with the first pokemon inspired from Egyptian side. Even the "strong legs" were not as strong showing in the shown image, they looked smaller and average in thickness. Also, point of view is veeeeery important when showcasing a design, no matter what you show so you must catch the best angle for it!!!!!!!

As beautiful as the final result is, you're missing so much. He likes long, tall, with big honkers. The sketches had a lot of potential. I'd say make them all into final products, send them as a series with your new bird to him and watch him react.

I think Mat is just projecting onto Mark at this point. Mark himself SAID he wants TALL girls. TALL! Stop projecting and just take the man for his WORD. My prediction for this girl is another capital PASS considering her proportions make her look so short. Mark doesn't read the actual height for the pokemons but we clearly see that his strongest choices all had proportions and body ratios that suggest tallness if you ignore the actual height written off to the side.

That and I don't see the feather thigh-high boot like appeal with this one. I feel with the Lei they could have brought it more the the front to give a more bosom appeal. And again the legs being longer would have been better and I liked the hair style from the sketches more than the finished product.

One important part for doing something so specific is that you need to make sure it actually lookes like a pokemone you did well both times but remember it must be perfect

I feel like it needs more of a narrow waist to be pulled into Mark' smash range. A lot of the concept arts looked really feasible.

Yeah. I think that's the point maybe. He just going off of data from the pokemon smash or pass videos rather than other data from other videos. That or he's just ignoring the fact that Mark likes tall girls.

@@martinm.4149 Also, he's a bit (as he realized) too focused on pure data and didn't stop to think where the data came from (Mark typically has TWO types of smash: Animal-like and humanoid-like, each with their own characteristics), which led to a new "perfect Pokémon" as janky as a collage of face parts of female celebrities.

Ultimately I do like the designs. This one does look too short, I still admire the designs themselves (well 1 and 2). Like, I could see those in a game at some point.

Honestly I liked the concept sketches more than the the final thing they’ve just more attractive with cleaner sharper proportions and they also have more dominating poses. I also think you could have just taken your joke design more seriously. It actually is an appealing combo of flowing elements mixed with feminine feelings sharp and pointy ones. Even the color scheme works really well.

as a 2d concept lead artist, the silhouette/shape of what they were going for got lost on the final output. the final outputs are nicely rendered but i definitely agree that the sketches were more dynamic and appealing. the waist and neck were the biggest give away, the torso is too heavy in shape design and the pose looks stiff. the same applies to their first character from the previous video.

Yeah! I feel like it's almost too chibi now. Which is something Mark didn't really lean to in his videos. If they made her a little taller I think it would help a lot.

And that's the reason, it's so hard being a furry. You think weals about the colors, the animal, the feel, the pose, the backstory, just to scrap everything after two years. I'm talking about Sonas bdw

Calling it now, Mark is gonna pass on this one, and I can tell you why, from an artistic design perspective. Both Pokemon you've presented are too "crowded" and what I mean by that is that they have too much going on in their design. The cat pokemon had too much detail in its necklace, the staff was out of place for a pokemon, and the wrappings were convoluted and confusing to look at. The bird suffers from the same problem, with its hair and flowery necklace. I know some Pokemon have a lot going on in their designs like this, but if you look at all of Mark's smashes, very few of them had crowded designs like these. Another thing wrong is the shape. You had the shape somewhat right with the cat pokemon, but not the bird. Once again, based on Mark's choices, he wants a Pokemon with a slender upper body, and powerful legs. The bird almost has no upper body, but the cat was close. Anyway, I think the cat pokemon COULD have worked, if it had been executed a bit better in its design, but this bird is most likely going to be another pass. Also, not even joking, he probably will smash your third creation. Aside from the obvious meme potential it possesses, the legs coupled with the tall, slender frame is what you should have gone with from the beginning.

I honestly thought the cat one didn’t look like a Pokémon. It looked like some sort of creature from a cartoon or anime, but not a Pokémon and that’s why it bothered me so much. But you nailed it with the busyness of the design being problematic, although I also think the legs should have been way longer. Mark will almost certainly smash the third one, but only for the memes.

Nailed it! The pokemon mark liked were short but not proportioned like they were short at all. The proportions are all wrong. You're correct about it being too crowded as well, the bird is lovely but way too busy.

I honestly want to see what the face of the third one would look like if it's face wasn't a photoshop of Markiplier's face, but instead markipler's drawn to match and be proportionate to the rest of the body.

I actually think the first one was already pretty perfect. My guess is that the art style was a big part of it. He liked very exaggerated feminine features, but even though Neferkiti is feminine, she doesn’t have the massive eyelashes or tiny waist he liked in a lot of others. She has the power he wants but not really the ‘come hither’ half-lidded expression. (Either way I love the design tho, big props to the artist.)

I feel like he'll fail again, he's missing something and not noticing it due to sticking to data sets too closely I think. Long, slender, elegant. I think that's what needs to be added, he's only looking at data as he said towards the end.

I have the exact type of llama stuffed animal he has in his background (i know it’s not that cool but it is to me).

I would call it Bellaluna, from bell, Latin for beauty, Stellaluna, the bird that was raised by a bat, and luna, for the night sky in her hair.

The way he changed the color scheme on the body basically says that the first was perfect except for a few small features and the body type, something that MatPat hasn't really focused on except for the strength in the legs and the fact that it should look fem.

For real, but a lot of the sketches were referenced off existing pokemon poses. Matpat needs to find a pokemon artist who has a higher level of skill

Matpat, one thing you missed with that bird was: TALL. IT NEEDS TO BE TALL. PERFECT SMASH IF ITAAS TALL

Going to such length to create a bird-lady Markaplier will want to smash... I guess this makes MatPat the ultimate wingman.

If this goes on long enough, I wouldn't be suprised if he ends up accidentally making his own pokemon region

I feel like the "hair" feathers are too long. That length would look more appealing on a taller pokemon, which is the main thing you've missed both times, height. Id be willing to bet if you'd made them both taller then he'd be more likely to smash. His biggest reactions were to tall, slender, powerful, feminine designs.

Matpat is missing something crucial to every design,, mark likes tall and slender elegant pokemon, like lady dimetre-whatever and i suspect the reason he passed the kity cat is because it looks small and bulky and the one he simped over in the other game was tall mommy shaped, the new one looks extremely small and the legs share no similarities with the pokemon markimoo went awooga for so i think itll be a new pass

I think mat forgot something crucial, mark loves tall women, legs also look chubby but not strong in my opinion, you made them wide but not bulky. Mat, your design should be 3 meters tall buff lady like pokemon, it doesn't matter what types of animal you're putting he wont smash it. No third one should be called the mark angel. There we have it. The 3 starter pokemon for pokemon smash and pass in the Fischbach region. Really looking forward to play the game.

Yes! The first pokemon might be tall in the data, but the body proportions make the pokemon look short. The legs have to be about twice as long as the torso and he's set. Thin in the ankles and getting thicker as you go up, triangular style. Add lining and shading to accentuate muscles. The second pokemon looks too soft in the body, and even with the longer legs to torso proportions it still looks short. I think where it really went wrong was the rendition of the artist they ended up choosing. No seductive tones, even with their color palettes. Legs look too soft in both designs, and in the first the torso is far too long. The faces being rounded? Sure! If the body was sharper. There's no balance. The data speaks well, the renditions they ended up going with sadly don't. 🥲

MatPat put effort of a trillion into deducing Mark’s perfect Pokémon and flunked, but you know that he's formulating factual science to the trial when he's trying once more within the span of months as a record.
