Dan Castellaneta does well as Genie. Still, I do not see why he didn’t voice him in Re Coded remastered cutscenes in 2014, just after Robin Williams passed away at that.

@@punkgothgrlllll937 that's why some fuck up fangirl created the SR-theory (technically the acronym means Sleeping Realm...but the whole theory try to explain that Sora and Riku loves each other and Kairi is actually an evil witch who tries to bring Sora into the "real" dark-side...but the theory uses fan-made translations of interviews with Nomura, fan-made translations of the games...so basically a theory based on something poorly written and very far from canon)

This actually reminds me of how the Supernatural fangirls shipped SAM AND DEAN (even though they're brothers in the series) all because there weren't any reoccurring male characters at the time and the fangirls didn't want to ship them with any potential female love interests. This reason alone is why I didn't play the shipping game when it came to kingdom hearts but after seeing a bunch of cute SoraxKairi fan art I guess I kind of ship them now. That and also because I really like to piss off toxic SoraxRiku shippers lol.

KH2 SPOILERS: Since he returns to the islands at the end of KH2, it is implied he probably visited her, which you can imagine would go into a whole recap thing if they did that cutscene. But him reuniting with her is not shown since the emphasis of these games are focused on friends more than family, at least that's what I think, because the events of Re:Coded happen between the end of KH2 (before the scene with Mickey's letter) and the beginning of Dream Drop Distance, so I'm sure Sora had plenty of time to hang with mom before his next adventure.

When Tarzan told Sora that his friends were in his heart, he meant literally since Sora was carrying Kairi's heart inside his heart, as well as Ventus's. So yeah, just wanted to point that out.

He might've meant Kairi but in no way did Nomura know of the character and story of Ventus during the production of KH1, everything after KH2 was created and added to the main arc (which is why it is all so very stupid).

It amuses me how often the Heartless are called creatures without hearts in KH. In KHII, it's established that the Heartless are actually the hearts left behind. The heartless beings are actually the Nobodies, as they've lost their hearts and want to reclaim them. Soooooo..... Heartless are hearts without bodies and Nobodies are bodies without hearts. Someone didn't think that one through. ;)

Fun fact about the Chernabog boss, he actually originally WAS supposed to be the big final boss. The original design had Chernabog be the source of all Heartless and the one behind all of the destruction across the worlds. Nomura changed it to a white-haired pretty possessing another white haired pretty boy. I love this series to death don't get me wrong, but the more I think about it the less sense everything makes.

That's so much more fitting but also seems kind of final unless even after completing the boss fought, it's impossible to ever truly destroy darkness, so he'll just be weakened enough to fix the worlds and seal kingdom hearts but forever will exist and will again spread darkness at some point but here we are, many retcons and additions later

Women don't want the game because of empowered female characters, they want because of the bromance between Sora and Riku. Myself included.

They’ll probably confess to each other or kiss on screen... but Sora didn’t collapse to his knees sobbing when he saw _Kairi_ again, he did that for Riku and only Riku. Both the games and the manga make Riku and Sora way more obsessed with each other than with her, painfully so on Riku’s side for the later games, and a LOT of fans have picked up on it. Soriku is actually a far more popular couple... Disney’s just got a long history of being petrified of confirming gay relationships between popular characters.

It makes us all seem like a bunch of sjws who pander gayness in everything. Sora KNEW Kairi was okay, that's why he didn't collapse to his knees, but he had no idea how Riku was doing, so he was especially worried, but he knew Kairi was alive and well. Fans and their non-canon ships, feeling the need to shove it down our throats. Actually SoRiku is a pretty hated ship. It's a ship that doesn't even make that much sense. Plus, Sora and Kairi are a much better fit and it's obvious Sora only has eyes for Kairi, and sees Riku as a friend. Plus, SoRiku isn't even close to being canon. The manga isn't canon, btw, nor is the BBS novel. Anyone "picking up on it" are just trying to find ways of making "The yaoi" happen.

The manga not being canon is fine because the games alone still make them way more obsessed with each other than with Kairi. SoRiku being a “very hated” ship is bullshit from the Numbers I’ve seen, so citation needed. And I mean that; aside from google stats, here’s a shipping wiki that talks about how SoRiku is not only very popular, but possibly the most popular shipping and that it’s often been favored over SoKai: shipping.wikia.com/wiki/Soriku If you just mean in your circles, that’s fine, but I see SoKai hated on more than most other ships. I’m not denying SoKai is canon, that’s obvious, but it felt forced to me (and to several other people) from the very beginning, before I gave a damn about SoRiku, and saying SoRiku doesn’t make much sense does give me the impression that either you didn’t play all the games or you just don’t care for the shipping? xD Which I am fine with. And NO, because Kairi had been KIDNAPPED in that game and Sora had plenty of reason to worry for her safety. xD His reaction to seeing Riku was still far more emotional than ANY time he ever reunited with Kairi under any circumstances and if you wanna say that still doesn’t matter, that’s cool, you don’t have to accept it. I only played the final mix and yes it was hard, I had to go level up and get equipment. After that I came back and got it at 2nd try with no much hassle. I was under leveled but then again I was under leveled with other bosses and had no issue. For me it got complicated without summons.

Omg I owned the original game when it came out. I was 10 years old, now Riku was the hardest boss fight ever! I had to level up and I even bought the game cheat book at gamestop to at least give me a clue on how to beat that dirtbag.

They had to explain Atlantica after the fact as to why Ariel didn't get jacked with the rest of the Princesses of Heart and why Alice was added in. Nomura and friends claim that Atlantica was just a particularily difficult place for Maleficent and the others to get to. Even though....Ursula was in on the plan and could have easily done the job

21:33 Riku REALLY comes off as a brat in this game. He is quick to believe that Sora abandoned him on little to no evidence from someone who should send off the "Stranger Danger" alarms, he throws a tantrum every time he meets Sora about him not paying attention to Riku and claims to be off to rescue Kairi when he is the one helping to hold her captive. It gets worse later on when he, as far as he know, helps bring about Xion and Roxas' deaths without batting an eye.

That Dick move is right. Were Donald and Goofy really pitying Sora for ending up like that? This situation had already become so dire that everyone needs to defend themselves somehow. The fact they leave him behind means they were just leaving him to die. Or did they already know that because he has a strong heart, he can defend himself regardless? Mickey is not a cold blooded tyrant, so orders or not he can understand if they went against him.

All because Disney broke a contract agreement about NOT using Genie for all the advertisements of the movie. He didn’t wanna be the ‘face’ of the movie because at the time, he was the biggest named actor on the cast. He had it put in his contract that Genie wouldn’t be used for all merch and advertisements but Disney did so anyway because of william’s fame and popularity at the time and due to William’s being in another movie at the same time so they wanted to show him off and stuff. That’s why he refused to be in any games, the Aladdin tv series and the second movie. He returned for the ‘king of thieves’ movie because 1, Disney made a huge apology to him and some other stuff I can’t remember and 2, he generally loved and missed playing Genie.

The heartless only reacted in Halloween town because nobody in the town had a beating heart, they were all undead, so once the heart came into play they figured it could have been powerful, and then when oogie ate it, his dark thoughts influenced the heart, but since all of his evil thoughts are petty at best, he could barely summon any at first

Personally I think having Sora move forward when he swings makes sense when he's literally just swinging a heavy metal key around as a weapon

Even after all of the retcons that hasn't changed. The other Keyblades are basically just weapons that anyone given one can have. Mickey's KeyBlade is the same as it is the KeyBlade given by the World of Darkness to it's chosen wielder, because neither Light nor Darkness want the imbalance between worlds.

Fun fact: Robin Williams played Genie in Aladdin but not in Return of Jafar. They got Homer voice actor to play him in that movie....so technically they did get the legitimate voice actor to play Genir just not the most famous one.

he has to do them all honestly. birth by sleep and dream drop distance are EXTREMELY crucial to the plot and honestly so are Chain of Memories and 358/2 days. Hell, III will have references not only to CODED, but also have multiple ties to the browser/phone games and back cover, the movie in 2.8

Actually, it's the 10th game. have you not heard of Chain of Memories and Re:Cahin of Memories (Remake)? 285/2 Days? Birth By Sleep? Coded? Re:Coded (Remake)? Dream Drop Distance? Kingdom hearts X? Union X? Also, the movie within 2.8, back cover and there's also 0.2 Birth By Sleep, even though it's more like an opening for KH3 rather than an actual game, but it gives us some insight on Aqua and how she's fairing in the Realm of Darkness. Ugh, why are there people that only talk about Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but don't even know or care about the other games? They're all important...

You know what really confused the heck out of me when I first played KH1? The fact that they live on an island that doesn't appear to be able to support more than 20 people or so, and Sora, Riku, and Kairi are talking about 'other worlds' instead of 'other islands' like any sane person would. Because as far as we know, there are no other islands, there are no other people, and their home world is basically just Water World. ...Was Water World owned by Disney? Dunno, but it makes more sense than this crap!

Regardless most of the movies are in their own seperate universes/continuites cos Disney wanted to avoid a shared universe and the issues that would pop up with all the movies being set on the same Earth in the same universe.

@@SSlash Can't say much regarding Pixar. But most of things in the Disney Animated Canon that crossover between it's movies are just Easter Eggs for eagle eyed to catch to catch. They are not meant to be taken seriously. For instance, Belle appears in a cameo in Hunchback which can't make the two movies canon to each other as Hunchback is 4 centuries behind Beauty and the Beast time period wise. Pumbaa appears in it aswell as a stuffed warthog but that can''t be canon as it's unlikely that a warthog from Africa would end up in France in that period. Also Lion King's time period is ambigious. Another is Scar appearing in Hercules. That can't be canon as he as eaten by Hyenas at the end of Lion King. I mean frickin' Mickey Mouse appears in several movies both as a doll and in person. Disney's policy on it's Animated Disney Canon at least is most of the movies exist in seperate universes/continuities so as to avoid crossovers and the issues that would come with them all being in one single universe and to ensure the Disney Princesses never interacted with each other in the Animated Movie Canon. Although Frozen and Tangled are in one continuity/universe and could one day crossover as a result.

Honestly some changes I would make to this story is I would have Sora in normal clothes and the regular attire he's known for is an outfit he gets from Donald and Goofy, explaining the goofiness, especially the big shoes. I would also make them completely desensitized to the weirdness of other worlds so it is only Sora freaking out at every little oddity since it'd be cool to have Donald and Goofy (probably Donald morseo) be more professional and help Sora through the craziness of some of the worlds. I would eliminate the 'no traveling to other worlds' and 'no meddling' rules as they mean nothing, Sora, Donald and Goofy meddle all the time and it seems really freaking easy for people to travel between different worlds and even in actual Disney shows we see crossover like Aladdin teaming up with Hercules or Lilo and Stitch meeting up with various different Disney shows. I would show some scenes or have some dialogue that more closely explains why Sora, Riku and Kairi want to leave the islands and it could more naturally set up future games sense Kairi is from a completely different world and Riku has encountered Terra who I believe made him interested in other worlds. You could also work in that Sora just feels this urge to leave the islands to go to some specific place he can't think of, foreshadowing the fact that he has Ventus' heart inside him and it wants to return home so there is a bit more than just some bored kids making a dumb raft for no reason. I would have Ariel be one of the Princesses of Heart, Alice makes no sense and the argument "it would interfere with the movie plot" has no weight since Little Mermaid didn't have Heartless or some anime boy with a key bat. The Colosseum would have characters from previous worlds show up like the Card Soldiers, Tarzan, the Final Fantasy characters, surviving villains, etc, just everyone who is capable of fighting and not just generic Heartless, and I would at least make low poly or flat images of viewers so its not an empty arena and actually feels like a tournament and not just random battles with enemies. This would give some of the other companions more time to shine outside of their own world with the added challenge of having to fight them, making some pretty unique boss fights. For any world that is 'normal' like Tarzan, I would introduce an illusion spell Donald casts on them so people perceive them as humans so its not a plot hole that Clayton just doesn't care about a walking, talking duck. You could even have some fun with it by showing off the effectiveness of this spell by having Sora see a human Donald when he is demonstrating this and you only have to do this once because after that the audience will just assume the spell is active which is why no one reacts. I would have the gang try to use Genie's magic to try and save everyone after he is freed but he is unable to because he can only affect things in his own world and Riku, Jasmine and Kairi are offworld. This would make the characters seem intelligent for actually attempting to use a godlike being to their advantage while adding a reasonable weakness to that godlike being so he doesn't break the plot. Hades and Oogie Boogie would be more involved with the villain's plans and I would make it clear what they are hoping to gain. I assume they think Kingdom Hearts will give them godlike power or an endless army of Heartless but I can't really recall what they actually said their goal was and Xehanort just wanted knowledge (unless that was retconned in KH3). I think one more thing is I would definitely add some scenes showing Sora missing his mom so she doesn't seem entirely forgotten. Imagine how sad it would be when Sora realizes his mom is essentially dead because his world is destroyed and then later (as Dartigan speculated) we can see his mom go to his empty room and wonder why she has a child's room in her house when she can't remember a son and a big part of 2 could be when Sora returns to Destiny Island and is reunited with his mom who finally remembers her long lost son. Plots like these tend to be frustrating because they do a lot of things wrong and some simple thought can fix them or erase things that don't end up making sense.

besides your story changes here's what i would change gameplay wise. i would increase the drop rate for all the materials and balance them so that you're able to synthesis everything up to the 27th item by the time you get to hollow bastion, after you lock hollow bastion and the stronger heartless start spawning the materials required to synthesis the ultima weapons will be dropped by those heartless, that way you can't break the game by getting the ultima weapons early but also it won't be a chore to get them at endgame. i would introduce a unique boss for every world that spawn after you lock hollow bastion, those bosses will be your EXP jackpot to level 100, sorta like the golden biped statue from Nier Automata, and after you beat them and max out your character the 3 mysterious bosses, Sepheroth and Ansem will be your ceiling at this point, that way the squirrel's suggestion to revisit the other worlds would actually make sense. i would make Ansem's level scale with yours so that the final battle isn't a cake walk when you hit the level cap. i would make it so that you can recruit beast, Hercules, Jack and Alladin as well as Cloud, Leon and Yuffie and take them with you on your adventure. i would increase the party count from 3 to 4. instead of you fighting behemoth for the 100th time i would have you fighting different stages of Ansem throughout the end of the world, rather than having a final boss with a thousand phases. i would remove the dark giant from the final boss's phases, you don't need to fight him for the 1000th time. i would add a map with markers on it so that you're not lost trying to find where the next scene of the story is in a labyrinth. i would change the level design by making the worlds bigger with more spacious areas and a dungeon at every world so that the game feels more like an RPG rather than a second rate 3d platformer with bad obstacle courses.

Disclaimer: I am fully aware to not take any of these sins series, but should the really prevent me from criticizing his sins for my leasure, or voice my opinion on things I don't agree with? Sin 26: Even though this is technically true, this type of explanation is mostly bound to happen whenever any series goes deep into its lore. Its similar to lightsabers and Lantern rings. Objects of great power that are given to certain individuals, but there are millions of them created and handed out through the far reaches of the cosmos. Plus Sora was told this information by 2 Final Fantasy characters who never actually used a Keyblade and I doubt Mickey had any motive to tell them EVERYTHING about the weapon. Its being told about the jedi by Han Solo. Is that equally reliable as getting the information from Luke Skywalker? Sin 56: I admit I don't like Disney movies as much, but from the popular Disney films I remember prior to 2002, most of the female leads were damsels in destress, distractions for both heros and villians, or people that gave a motivational speech for the male protagonist. Sin 85: Cloud was looking for Sephiroth not Arieth. 171: To be honest, the Disney elements of this series were always strictly filler so that the game doesn't feel to short. Kh1 doesn't even take too much liberties to make the Disney levels be accurate to the films. Kh2 does it slightly better in terms of accuracy. Sin 172: its a retcon sure, but luckily they use it in a way were the original presentation of it was a misconception. Honestly the better type of retcons unlike the pure ones which originally states 1 thing and ignores it when they revisit it while damning consistency. Looking at you FFXIII on Lie'cieth are the only ones becoming Cie'th and the Maker bullshit.

14:04 I think the implication is that the Keyblade teleported itself from Sora's grip to Riku's as soon as Riku was in reach. Riku didn't take it from his hands. You could argue that Sora should've noticed, but it's pretty established that Sora is stupid enough to qualify for a learning disability, so it's not hard to imagine that he's just slow on the uptake. Riku's quip later about Sora being a Keyblade delivery boy to the real Keyblade Master is not technically incorrect.

If the idea was to focus on her mouth, they could have just did that : a focus on the mouth (with a zoom on it). It wouldn't have been weird, many movies and game have these scene where the camera zoom to only show entirely the speaker's mouth (to some "impact" effect on what the character says). Here you can't say the focus was on the mouth since not only it shows much more than only the mouth, but the mouth isn't even in the center of the focus, as it's being quite hidden in the very top of the camera focus, meanwhile her torso is actually in the center of the camera focus... So, while I agree with you it's a stretch to claim the point was to focus on her (non-existent) breasts, it's even less believable they wanted to focus on her mouth, making your statement more reliable than Dartigan's joke. However, what I meant in the sin is that the focus is the mouth, but the shot is intending to hide the look in her (non-animated) eyes, making the viewer question how she is taking Sora's statement there. If it was an actual completely focus on the mouth, it would just be awkward in that situation since it'd be too close.

The general lack of planning as of KH1 _really_ stands out once you're 10+ years deep into the franchise. That and the shit controls, I spent _weeks_ stuck on Ursula as a kid and even longer on the Ansem fights. That said, I think they did as good a job as they could've retconning things, tbh. The Keyblade War was people fighting over light, it was also proof that Keyblades are dangerous tools of destruction, the Dandelions (who were kids) did _somehow_ restore the world(s), and the Keyblades were mentioned to have chosen the keykids in the mobile game. Kinda. Mobile game's translation work _suuuuuucks_ and it's the weirdest thing. Now we just need playable Kairi. Or party member Kairi + Riku. Please.

Most of the Riku sins can be explained by the fact that Ansem was possessing Riku ever since Destiny Islands was first destroyed up until Riku was stranded in the Realm of Darkness, then pretended to be possessed by Maleficent so he could guide her into destroying the various worlds.

It’s so weird to look back at kingdom hearts 1 after I’ve seen the improvements in the engine and graphics of kh3

I wish people would stop calling non - numbered titles in the KH franchise spin - offs, when they clearly aren't and add so much (often times convoluting and confusing) plot elements. That's the mindset that makes people think they'll be alright jumping into KHIII having played only I and II. Originally one could argue that, since released on handhelds, they were spin offs, but with the release of the Re:Mixes, that point doesn't really hold up all too well anymore imo. All that said, though, 6 weeks until KHIII drops. Get fucking psyched.

4:18 has always bothered me. Did he not care about anybody else besides Rikku and Kairi. Every other sentence out of Soras mouth is where is Kairi or Rikku.

“Thats mermist” i lost it. Ive been following for a couple years and watched them all multiple times. This is in my top 5 games ever and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this. Cant wait for 2 and then 3. Keep up the great work man.

I absolutely adore the Young voices of Sora, Kairi and Riku. The voice actors absolutely nail the naiveness, and wonder that these 3 children all inhibited. Sora sounds extremely impressionable and genuinely kind-hearted. Kairi literally sounds like a little princess you can't help but want to protect. In my favorite, Riku, sounds like he exudes false confidence, almost as if he's putting on a show of strength to hide his weaknesses

Yeah. The Kingdom Hearts fan base embraces these sins dude. It's why we enjoy it. It just a hot mess of awesome and when others points all these out we just nod and say "Yeah. That's Kingdom Hearts for ya" If you want to see a fandom get angry at a video like this you picked the wrong fandom dude.

God I love this game but it's very much a 'turn your brain off, don't think too much and just enjoy the spectacle' kind of affair, even without the number of sequels/prequels/spin-offs that have been released since. IIRC, the boss that really gave me trouble (outside the optional bosses. Fuck Sephiroth) was the fight with Maleficent. Dark!Riku at Hollow Bastion was annoying but not too bad for me.

@@Belgiumdoesnotkickas why is ventus a still a child despite being around for the first keyblade war ? , why was maleficent at the keyblade war and bitching about Sora ? , why if a lot of organization 13's members were unsuitable vessels why use almost everyone ? , why on earth would anyone think that Kingdom Hearts is darkness in a Disney game ? , why is Maleficent absolutely convinced that she's the main antagonist ? I have many more.

@@theonewayroad3867 Ventus is still a teenager because his heart is in Sora making his body in a timeless sleep, also the Ventus you know after the keyblade war was in a data world and not the real world since that was lost because of the first keyblade war. Why not use almost everyone ? If i would need to find a suitable host, i would try everyone i can to find out wich hosts are suitable, it's called error and correction. Malificent learned to time travel through xehanort. To time travel you need to be stabbed by a keyblade in the heart making it so that you get a heartless and nobody, malificent got that power when Riku stabbed her in the heart. Kingdom hearts is not darkness but the ultimate light that protects the world from darkness plus it's not actually a disney game but a square enix one licensed under Disney

i think these videos are my favourite from you honestly. ive cracked up at so many points. just the idea of this deadpan unimpressed guy going through kingdom hearts and evaluating the nonsense that happens very straight faced is a hilarious dynamic

Monte Logan they’re not spin offs they’re actual games that move the story along. I suggest if you don’t have real knowledge of the series please don’t spout misinformation like this. Also look up Kingdom Hearts a kids game.

Oh man this was a long time coming. I think the KH series is one of the only series that can be both as stupid as it is and beloved for what it is. I started playing Kingdom hearts when i was fresh out of high school. This game was like the Disney magic i needed to get me through my dismal adult life starting a part time job and everything. And despite all the plot holes and all the retconning I still love this game, i also love to make fun of it so it works full circle i guess.Ether way it's been a hell of a ride!

KH1 Kairi and KH2 Kairi are totally different people. Just saiyan.

The hidden secrets in this game with changing pictures and such is astounding. The amount of time I've shot fireballs at walls to try to make something happen is terrifying.
