It's official, Johnny (The Happy Console Gamer) should be THE GUY interviewing other "retro gamers" who have popular or not so popular you tube channels (why not help promote the not so popular that deserve it). Convention interviews are great, but if that can't be done, why not video chats or something. Johnny has the charisma, love and passion of retro consoles/arcade gaming, and the knowledge to be one of the best interviewers. I say, why not! Please make it a NEW segment of your channel, Johnny! PLEASE! We need to preserve these gaming memories, if we don't, who will?

+JeXsXsXe Seriously, I could watch these guys talk about games all day. You should also check out the Allgengamers podcast on iTunes, it's johnny, Pete Dorr, Gamester, Heine, Ben, and MJR. Johnny left due to his busy schedule but now has the Lords of Thunder Podcast with Alpha which is also excellent. An interview type show with other KZreadrs is a great idea.

Interesting chat guys. Thanks for sharing! I wish I was there to join in. My gaming stories are very similar to yours. I started gaming in the 70's in the arcade with Asteroids and Space Invaders. I think the very first game I ever played in an arcade (at a Howard Johnson's) was Boot Hill. I also used to record my games onto VHS tapes back in 1986 with the NES. The composite output made it very easy to do this. When my best friend Mark left the state I was seriously bummed out so my brother and I would make tapes to send him. Much of it was game footage with me commentating over it. I got a Neo-Geo in 1990 so I was really excited to show that off. I kept all of those tapes....for better or worse. ;) Anyway, keep up the great work with Game Sack and HCG. -Matt

***** You assume to much. You think I sat around all day coming up with a comment? lol I watched the video and typed the first thing that came to mind and then I moved on. Is this what you do? You go around judging the quality of peoples comments and critiquing them? If you truly are "old" as your name implies, (I assume over 40) you should really figure out what it's going to take to give your life more meaning. Just my suggestion. I assume by your lack of something better to do that you've got some issues. Good luck. Anything you type from this point forward is for your own sake, as I won't be reading it.

It's so refreshing to hear Joe and Dave cussing and talking off the cuff because normally on Game Sack they intentionally keep it family friendly, which I still appreciate, but now I get to see more of their real personalities. When Dave was talking about selling his NES to get his Genesis and then selling his Genesis to get his Super NES I feel ya pain brother lol. I remember selling my N64 to get a Playstation and then right after I did that fucking Zelda Ocarina Of Time came out and I was fucked for a while before I could really get a N64 again and play that. :)

I'm about as old as these guys. But unlike Game Sack, I WAS turned onto games big time because of the Atari 2600. Our family then got an Odyssey 2 and Colecovision. Even a couple of arcade games! I had the great luck of having parents that really got into playing certain games (Mom was Ms. Pacman, Burgertime, Legend of Zelda, Dad was Quest for the Ring and Kid Icarus). We loved the NES, but I got bitten by the Sega bug with the Master System. Back then, it really was unusual to really be into games. There were very few of us at my high school that were into them. I was probably the only kid in high school to own a Game Gear.

I adore my man the Happy Console Gamer and think it says something when I would prefer watching a 15 minute video of him reading a copy of EGM from 1992 a 1000 times more than a Phil DeFranco vid (Whom I enjoy as well) I wish you would review a NEW game once a month, not because I prefer newer games but because having the newer game in the video title on a regular basis would eventually over time lead to more KZread recommendations to people who haven't yet seen your channel. AND since you have turned me onto dozens of games and I dusted off my Turbo Grafix with Bonk for the first time since the 3rd grade!... I think it would be fantastic for you to do some lets plays of all the games you talk about. Not these 76 episode play throughs but a 1 or 2 episode game play vid discussing what about the games you love. Either way, it's great seeing some one who is so openly and proud to be into the 'nerd' culture AND who used to shred and most importantly would gently put down his Switch controller to slay some vagiine.

In ENGLAND!! we didnt really GET!! the nintendo.. it wasnt as wide spread.. instead we were more AMIGA and ATARI ST orientated.. infact.. I cant remember 1 friend who had a nintendo... not 1... The rivalry was MASSIVE!! in school between the AMIGA and ATARI ST kids... even though the AMIGA was superior in pretty much every way.. I would cut my fucking tongue out before i admited it... Plus.. because the games were EASILY!!! pirated.. it wasnt like borrowing a cart from your friend.. you could actually OWN!! the game for the price of a blank disk.. i think this brought kids closer together.. going around to ur friends house with a stack of new blank disks and coming away with a library of new games... holy SHIT!!! i miss those days.. As much as Piracy hurt the industry.. it also fed it aswell.. word of mouth was a massively powerful thing.. and spreading games like wildfire did a lot to also spread the word to legit buyers.. im not condoning my actions.. I was 12+ years old.. i had no money to purchase all these games.. i didnt even see piracy as a bad thing back then.. I assumed if it was SO bad to copy games they wouldnt have given you the ability to do it :) I have subsequently learnt the value of buying games.. which is for another discussion.. but never swallow the bullshit that games companies tell u about piracy , it does NOT!! drive the price of games UP!!! The ps3 went for 3 years without being hacked .. and the games were still stupidly fucking high... I still think that if only they reduced the price of games they wouldnt be pirated at all.. and in the long run they would earn MORE from legit sales because people could AFFORD the real deal.. but hey.. thats my 2 pence worth :) happy.. gaming.

That is an awesome comment. I had no idea there was such a rivalry. Its really cool to see how kids did battle in other regions with different consoles being popular
