One other point about his sitting there is that he's putting himself in opposition to both Tywin and Cersei. That was the furthermost place from Tywin at the table, and Tyrion sits there right after Cersei makes a point of sitting just beside their dad. There is a little shot that conveys this really well (1:44): we see Tyrion as the closest character to the camera and on the right side of the screen, in double opposition with Tywin (the furthermost character from the camera) and Cersei (the left-most character on the screen), with a lot of literal distance between them. IMHO you overcomplicate. It was a game of chairs beside Tywin. LF rushed to the nearest, other 2 sat in order. So Cersei naturally seeing herself as the second in charge without any thoughts of "why not?" grabed the closest to destination chair and put it closer to Tywin; if both closest sides were taken she'd probably took one anyway. This scene not only shows the politics of Game of Thrones, but the core nature (basically, soul) of the characters too. Tywin Lannister is power. Littlefinger worships and gravitates towards power instantly. Varys sensibly follows power. And Pycelle follows it like an obedient dog. Cersei always makes a shrewd move, thinking she is the smartest and has beaten everybody - until soon proven wrong. And Tyrion. Always sidelined for being a dwarf, stands up for himself and fights his fights on his own.

This is one of my favorite scenes of whole show. The first minute and a half with the chairs is an entire wordless story in itself that perfectly showcases the personalities of all the characters involved: Tywin the power and authority around which everyone moves. Littlefinger cuts everyone off to get to the front. Pycelle is pretending to be old and slow. Cersei is so petty as to completely rearrange to chairs to what suits her best. Tyrion is cleverly finds a way to get a good spot even though it appears as though there isnt one. Lord Baelish's eye rolling when Cersei carries the chair made me get into laughing crisis. Varys's look at Tyrion when Baelish talks about the relationship with Lysa Arryn just hit the spot. A perfectly shot scene in all senses. Even Cersei could manage to be funny with her dull temperament. This is the only scene in which she looked pretty to me. Miss the old days guys, the days when GoT was a legend. It then turned out to be shit.

This is why we needed more episodes. I was always driven crazy by how slowly the show went because there were such a finite number of minutes and I wanted the plot to progress. But at the same time, this moment is absolutely golden, even though it eats up a ton of time and nothing happens. If we’d have just had more episodes, we could have moved the plot and had these moments.

So for Tyrion it was more like a wit answer than a statement. If everyone wants a cool place... what would actually be the coolest one? ;) And Tywin's face at that moment: oh your jokes again

The first minute and a half with the chairs is an entire wordless story in itself that perfectly showcases the personalities of all the characters involved: Tywin the power and authority around which everyone moves. Tyrion is cleverly finds a way to get a good spot even though it appears as though there isnt one. So I think he is more upset with the position because in feudalistic context a treasurer was a VERY unpopular position. This is a martial society where advancement is through heroic deeds. It wudnt have been as bad for sure if the wife survived ...but in these times a man like tywin wud always be disappointed to have a dwarf as a son ..especially when the other son is a handsome elite swordsmen
I love how this is basically one big classroom Tywin: The teacher Littlefinger: Teacher’s pet Varys: The smart kid Cersei: The favorite student Pycell: Senior who doesn’t care anymore Tyrion: Class Clown

Cersei is just another teacher’s pet
1:42 that little grin Varys gives Tyrion is priceless!😆
Almost 2 minutes of sitting down and moving chairs, and it is so enjoyable to watch.
So much is said without words in the first 2 minutes.
I love their faces when one person does things it is so funny especially after cersei moved her chair and seated next to him in 1:14 you can see in tywin's eyes 'your move' and then at 1:27 when tyrion moved the chair cross tywin varys' face like 'OHHH BEAT THOSE BALLS!!'
Cersei’s and Varys’ expressions 🔥
Varys always entertained by Tyrion's Shenanigans
Oh man, it's just delicious to come back to moments like this, and remember how simply fucking amazing this show was.
I think the most ironic part of this is if Tyrion had been the monster everyone believed him to be ue could have easily stolen the entire kingdoms wealth and easily betrayed them all. The fact that he actually does care about the kingdom and his family really was always his biggest weakness
The only Hand that this trio actually feared.
Just this scene is better than whole season 8...

It is isn't.
The beginning of this scene makes me laugh every time. So much being said and all without a single word.
Back when game of thrones was still a legendary show
Tywin: Tyrion you are now Master of Coin Tyrion: Price of the Brick is going Up.
I love that last little tiny scoot Tyrion does at the very end of his musical chairs. real power move

Don't forget the other "power move" right after that little tiny scoot. Tyrion is the first one to speak, breaking the long silence. In formal meetings like this, the first to speak is often trying to take control of the meeting, set the agenda, be seen as a power player... none of the others dared to break Tywin's silence, but Tyrion does his little scoot of the chair and then breaks the silence becoming the first speaker... power move piled up on power move. Pretty much saying to Tywin "I have so little respect for you that I'm going to start your meeting for you."

@@DrTopologist yeah GoT used to be awesome i miss tyrion what ever happened to him he disappeared after Jaime helped him escape death row only to be replaced by some bearded look alike strange
3:02 my favorite moment from the entire series.
That chair bit shows off everyone’s character so well lol
Who ever thought that a bunch of people entering a room, saying nothing, dragging chairs and staring at each other could be so funny :))))
This might be the most quality acting scene among the whole GoT episodes. Still laughing out loud when Tywin takes a glance at Tyrion after Cersei takes her seat wondering how Tyrion will act. Top class acting, utterly excellent! Grand Maester's surprised look at the very beginning is of another elite acting.

I like S6 though, great moments, especially in Episode 9 and 10.
Varys would have a fantastic reaction channel on KZread with all his facial expressions.
Littlefinger trying to show boldness, varys just wanting to be done, the old guy just nervous and trying to not do anything, cercei telling little finger to go duck himself and Tyrion mocking them all. Absolutely amazing
Nails on a chalk board! Totally awesome response. His father should be proud.
Varys' faces are priceless.
The writing in this scene is better than the entirety of Season 8.
''Living a life speding money didn't taugh me how to manage it'' Wise words
The way everyone acted in this scene shows all their personalities.
The writing was so good they didn't even need to speak for half of it 😭 one of my favorite scenes
I just love the way Tywin face looks when his son starts moving the chair to the other end of the table haha
The way Varys looks at Bailish when tywin mentions Herrenhall and Riverrun, almost taunting him in a way that he got tricked my a dwarf.
I first watched this when I was 15. im now 22 and can actually understand not just the dialogue but the reasons of the chair dragging/ power dynamic going on. brilliant
Watching great scenes like this makes me so sad about how poorly the show ended.
"conveniently located close to your quarters...." hahahaha
wow... when I see scenes alone like this instead of whole series or whole episode, I understand the hidden humor🤣
Verys facial expressions had me laughing right through this video 😂😂😂😂😂
Did Tyrion move his chair to: - Piss everyone off? - Ridicule Cersei's behaviour? - As a sign that he wants to sit as far away from Cersei as possible? - To prove something by sitting opposite from Tywin? GODS THE SCENES WERE STRONG THEN
This is why we needed more episodes. I was always driven crazy by how slowly the show went because there were such a finite number of minutes and I wanted the plot to progress. But at the same time, this moment is absolutely golden, even though it eats up a ton of time and nothing happens. If we’d have just had more episodes, we could have moved the plot and had these moments.

they were offered 10 seasons, but noooo they wanted to be done so they made the shit that effectively killed any and all interest i had in game of thrones.

They had Star Wars to do, speaking of...how's that going, anyways? 💀
I love how for the first 1 minute 50 seconds, not a single word was spoken. It's all about the actors body language and facial expressions. Amazing!
2:33 Varys takes a not-so-subtle swipe at Littlefinger.
I wonder if we'll ever be able to enjoy a comment section just praising the good acting, without immediately ranting about season 8. Season 8 happened, it's part of the story and there's nothing you can do about it. Shitting on the entire show will not help.

One of the most subtle and yet brilliant power moves of the series!
I hate these clips popping up in my algorithm cause it's reminding me how damn good this show was and I miss it so
Tywin not recognizing that Tyrion was his best child to train was his downfall.

Fully agreed
The season when GOT was still golden.
The part where Tyrion moves his chair opposite his father is comedy gold
The first 2 minutes of this scene say everything about each character in this scene. One of the greatest character moments of the series.
2 minutes of people moving chairs and it still has more depth than the entire script of seasons 7 and 8 combined.
Two minutes of no Dialogue and yet still have better storytelling than Season 8
Varys face while Tyrion pulls the chair & while he describes the room are so funny to me 😂
The look on Tywin's face when Tyrion starts moving the chair is hilarious to me. "Why he always gotta-...?"
I just realized the show never changed the location of the "new" council chamber that was chosen by Tywin.

That is the tower of the hand. The small council chamber is where Ned and robert argued and ned resigned from being hand. The small council chamber is next to or behind the throne room.
