Absolutely. Even if 3 Body Problem is good from start to finish, it will not negate the danage D&D did. They can't be forgiven for their purposeful incompetence.

I honestly think he's bitten off more than he can chew. There are so many plots going on now and so many players.

He has too many loose threads. I don't see how you could tie it up even in the two planned novels. While I do believe we'll eventually get Winds, I don't think we're going to see a conclusion of the story through him. Even if we have numerous TV series from the world he created, his main legacy will be that he never completed the books.

I truly wonder (and hope) how much that “Danny kind of forgot” quote haunts David Benioff. Incompetence and carelessness on full display in just a few words, it will follow him and stain his career forever. We can never let him forget how he murdered this once great franchise because of pure greed to go and chase Star Wars money.

I was looking through a forum of 3 Body Problem book readers and they called the series a dumbed down version of the books. Imagine that?

They made so many strange changes from the source material for season 1. I was so heartbroken when I saw it was them writing it. That said, it could've been worse. Still prefer the Chinese Tencent version.

@@SirQuantization I haven't read the 3 Body Problem books, but I've heard good things about them. At least most people were pleased with the first season of GoT, them veering so far off here doesn't bode well for the remainder of the series.

to be honest, in the beginning, I thought Dany's arc could have ended with her burning everything down. I guess technically I'm someone who got the ending I "expected," but I never expected the disastrous execution of the later seasons. I thought Dany would burn it all down either out of anger (perhaps at the death of one of her dragons) or because she lost control of her dragons at a crucial moment. (The House of the Dragon has convinced me that this is what should have happened; her Dragons "like" her, but she has no absolute control over them, they are nuclear weapons with thoughts of their own.)

I always felt that Dany's arc was more of one of sacrifice due to how she lingered in Mereen so long to help set things right there, rather than sail for Westeros. So I saw her ending as dying in the fight against the white walkers. I liked how on House of the Dragon they showed Vhagar acting on her own and not listening to Aemond. I think it depends two on the age of the dragon, Vhagar is ancient, and also on the bond though between dragon and rider. Caraxes and Daemon are in perfect symmetry.

I liked game of thrones because it was different. Dark, cruel and at times wonderfully written. The world they build, the characters we've met, everything they catched me with brutalized far from any way of recovering. Of course I feel hurt and angry, that's my right. No one, fellow fan or actor can make me forget the sheer dissapointment I felt back in the day. The day I'll get over it is the day I'll reject any asoiaf content completely. Would've been my first time, life without Star Wars is a peaceful life.

Those who appreciated the writing quality of the early seasons were no longer watching past S5 or S6 at the latest. The dummies who got attracted by the praise they could not understand or the noise made around the Red Wedding kept watching like idiots "for the shocking twists" and big moments but they firmly counted on somehow getting even for the twists at the end. You can get a dog to jump at a treat by pulling it up but you'd better not eat it yourself with a smug face at the end of it. Yet it's exactly what happened. Realising the audience consisted mostly of dogs, the story was dumbed down to dangling fake treats, then the dogs were mocked for not seeing it coming and hated it all.

That's funny because when I was defending Dany someone said that same line about me not liking it because it wasn't the ending i had in mind. Yeah, like a good ending? lol 🤦‍♀

I have a slightly different view in that the plot beats of S8 were fine (nowhere near the quality of earlier seasons), it was just a series of set pieces with little explanation that a few more episodes would have improved. Just one episode travelling down to King’s Landing showing Sansa having more support than Daenerys who is just considered some foreigner claiming the kingdom got herself would at least have given her some reason for getting unhinged so quickly.

While I don't believe Dany's arc was one of going mad, to build some sort of conflict they needed to make it be around Jon. First, Jon should've been the one to kill the Night King, which was his character's arc anyway. As a result he becomes a legend and gathers even more support from other Houses. With him then being half Targaryen/half Stark, and a dragon rider as well, he'd be preferable to people over the woman who grew up in Essos.

"Danny kinda forgot… " - How can anyone be stupid enough to believe these obvious "writing mistakes" were not made on purpose? How can anyone with a brain not realise this is mockery?

  • @robloughrey
    @robloughrey27 күн бұрын

Honesty it's worse than all that, they killed the books too because I'm betting they actually more or less followed the plot outline that GRRM laid out for them. They just took 20 episodes too few to show it to us. We needed to see Bran go evil and use his view of the future to drive Dany mad, cast doubt in Jon's mind and become a king that will live for eons and be immune to betrayal. Because they made a hash of it GRRM has to completely change the plot to have something that has a chance of success and its taking forever.

I don't think GRRM is changing anything. He's still writing WoW which is not the ending and I don't think he'd care about the opinion of the TV audience. His book audience will be happy with that same ending done properly. So Daenerys will grow tyrannical, Jon will be conflicted and unwilling, Jaime will return to Cersei as he kept saying all along and it will all make perfect sense except, maybe, for Bran. I have a suspicion GRRM might be keeping this as an ending twist that will still not make full sense only so people will be left to speculate for years about it.

I am not someone who wishes bad on creators, nor do I think one should hold on to grudges forever. So if Benioff and Weiss can keep their shit together from now on and make solid shows from start to finish, I wish them well. Lets not forget that they also made the first four seasons that were generally beloved and highly regarded and I doubt that they made the last three seaons bad out of malvolence. It was really just carelessness and probably arrogance that led to those mistakes.

Yet another one who never noticed that Season 6 made no sense whatsoever but was loved because the audience got what it wanted. The show was dumbed down hard after the 4th season and the audience which kept watching was openly mocked at the end. And guess what: the idiots still don't realise it.
