Advantage doesn't stavk. Once you have one instance of advantage you cannot gain more. So multiple instances of advantage and disadvantage will not stack. Two instances of advantage in one instance of disadvantage equals a straight roll.

After reading this comment I looked it up and got irrationally mad at that rule hahaha. What a bummer!

This is why I love fog cloud when fighting in natural darkness: I cast it as a point of cover for allies without dark vision (like myself) and the attack advantage against us is immediately cancelled out 😁 it also does well against enemies with pack tactics for the same reason

You just need to get the Blind fighting style or Devils Sight invocation. Both are available through feats...

The Gloomblade won’t work without blind sight or devil sight. Advantage and Disadvantage don’t stack they cancel each other out. Also shadow blade and darkness both require consentration. A work around is be a warlock with an imp familiar and the devils sight invocation. Get a ring of spell storing and have the imp cast it from the ring, off loading that consentration and the imp can see in darkness as well.

My explination may be off in the video but I after re-reading the spell I am still confident that shadow blade would give advantage on attacks. The verbiage and explination of the spell seem pretty clear to me but I can understand the different interpretations lol. And yea it does require 2 casters, thats why I mentioned some of the combos use concentration at the begining of the video, although I do like your work around.

@@ThisCrits the spell gives advantage on attacks in dim light or darkness. However if you can’t see in the darkness you will have disadvantage canceling out the advantage. You cannot add more advantage weather it’s from the enemy not seeing you, reckless attack, flanking, silvery barbs. You can only get advantage or disadvantage once per roll, if you have both they cancel out.

Grasping Silence is actually something that was used against me to great effect. My players destroyed a high level wizard from a cult with that combo. I was very new as a DM back than. The wizard wasn't even supposed to be fought but rather just him trying to recrute them, so they get a few informations about the cult Gloom Blade doesn't work. Having any number of advantage cancels out with one source of disadvantage and the other way around. While a cool concept it is against RAW Also I really like the timing of the video, after I wrote you "Natural Talent" just a day ago ^^

Tenser's Floating Disk & Phantom Steed. Spell Mastery and you could spam the entire area around you with your Tenser's Floating Disks and with the Steed, carry your allies, things, treasure, stuff. Crash into enemies with 3ft disks compressed into each other like Final Destination in Smash Bros.

Cast dissonant whispers in melee range. On a failed save they need to use their reaction to move away. This provokes. If you have warcaster and booming blade, use your reaction to opportunity attack with booming blade. They take 3d6 psychic damage plus your weapon damage plus booming blade thunder damage. In addition, this could also provoke with your allies.

you cant opportunity attack a creature that moves against its will

@omarijackson1034 incorrect. They provoke if they move out of your reach. They don't provoke if they teleport or if something moves them without using their movement, action, or reaction. In this case, they're using their reaction to move away from you, so it provokes.

I’m excited to try out the Fearful Frost combo soon, and will try a quickened Fear to pull it off. Thanks for the tip. Grasping Silence is also really cool and one I may use as a DM against my players’ casters. Unfortunately, my favorite combo flavor wise is the Gloom Blade, where you’d still need to take the devil’s sight Eldritch invocation or blindfighting fighting style to pull off.

Im glad you enjoyed :D The more I read about shadow blade the more I think it would still work. I understand the advantage rules but the spell literally states any attack in darkness has advantage. Im 90% sure when rules or spells have clarifications like that it overrides the basic rules. That being said, Im not jeremy crawford but I think its safe to assume it would work hahaha

@@ThisCrits I see your point. The phrasing is "when you use the sword to attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you make the attack roll with advantage." I see this as just granting standard advantage, but it might be worth seeing if Sage Advice covered this (as I know other Shadow Blade questions were answered by Sage Advice.

So The Kiln is a lower level version of The Microwave combo? The microwave is Wall of Force or Force cage with Sickening Radiance

not as potent as some of these others but a really annoying combo i've done is Ray of Frost to reduce movement then sapping sting to knock them prone...congrats you can only move 5 feet on your next turn after getting up

Web and fireball is a bad combo because you lose the web, containing the enemy is often more valuable than some damage. Web and forced movement options like Eldritch Blast with repelling blast or Thorn Whip are great combos. Thorn Whip and Spirit Guardians is great. My favorite is Sickening Radiance and Forcecage.

Advantage doesnt work that way, my explination was off but after re-reading shadowblade you should still have advantage on an attack made in darkness. I can understand it being up to interpretation but with how it words the spell, I think its fair to assume it grants advantage.
