So much fun! Too bad it’s shut down.
I went there yesterday and caught a keeper 15 incher, that really is a top spot for flounder when it gets colder
I live on the mississippi gulf coast. Love fishing salt and brackish water. Most fun...

Absolutely, a tiny red fish fights harder than most things you can get freshwater! Tight Lines
When you show how to tie the rig, the line is so clear which makes your hand look like a mime.

Thanks fellas!
Went out yesterday and got 3 at the dike. Wish I would have gotten there sooner before it started getting hot. Your right about using thinner hooks. I lost two double rigs pretty quick due to not being able to bend the hooks or pop them free. I tied on a couple cheap Walmart ball jigs and that's what I caught my three flounder on. The points will bend over easy on the cheap hooks so I carried a hook sharpener with me and used it several times. A lot easier than tying on another rig.

I need to get me a hook sharpener, but yea having to re tie sucks when ur just trying to fish lol
Indeed flounder is probably the hardest bay fish to catch

Its so weird, cause It really feels like its easier from the bank than the kayak. Most fish are super easy to find in the yak but I never do good on flounder!

Yea the small guys are tearing it up. I don’t target them often, but since I have started in the past couple weeks it’s been slow for the keepers.
I think with the recent changes in our climate that the water temps are higher than normal and the flounder aren't hitting their optimum spawning temps. Just a theory of my own.

Not too sure, it was definitely a hot October flounder didn’t seem to be moving as much.
Great video with lots of info- where the heck do you park - I always thought that was part of the storage tanks private parking?? Tight lines - PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻

Little dirt lot. Not sure if it’s private or not but that’s where everyone parks.

Little dirt / grass lot directly to the right as your pulling on to the bridge. If you look on google maps there’s one black car there to help identify.

Great video. I’ve driven past this spot a few times (before SW park) but I do t see any places to park, where do you park?

there's a little dirt/grass lot down to the right side of the bridge, you will usually se a couple cars parked there.
Pick-up the trash man, I know you didn't put it there but pick it up.
Awesome video , I was talking to a older guy yesterday while I was flounder fishing, he was telling me that the dredging they do everywhere is what's hurting the population. Idk sounded legit. And you saying that everything what your friend said , it makes since.

They need to shut down the popular spots for flounder season because people are still hammering on them

Like poaching or just catch and release. I’m just gonna target different species for the closure. Bull reds and big trout!

@@RGCfishingg I not biologist but either way taken from the water are fish gets damaged and has to heal to me seems like it would stop the migration alot of places basically ban fishing in areas where migration happens

makes since, kinda like closing real deep waters when its super cold to protect the trout.
Should dropped the kayak in right there

Yea I was pretty surprised!
To be honest the flounder population has dwindled down since these guides have been gigging out of these huge boats. Taking 6 to 8 people at a time. That’s 30 to 40 at a time. Some guide run twice a night. That’s just slaughtering not fishing
@RGCfishingg

100% agree, not to mention commercial fisherman can target flounder with a daily bag limit of 30.
“This spot is insane”… catches all dinks😂

your sleeping on that spot bro. It was dinks on that day but when the big fish are there its ez limits
Sorry I don’t believe that research. I agree with closure for the run, but numbers are up in the past ten years.

I don’t have to much experience on catching flounder, I’ve only been at it for the past 2 years. I catch flounder here and there but it seems since I’ve been targeting them, it’s tough for me to get on the big ones.
Get rid of gigging they take to many when nobody is around
@RGCfishingg

I've always said that I think if they want to fix our flounder stocks, they should make flounder a game fish and stop letting commercial fishermen gig them. Gigging is crazy; those guys go all out on the flounder.
