    Thankyou so much for this...it really is deja vu for me...grew up watching the Galloping Gourmet at the age of 5 or 6 years old. Started life long love if cooking and cooking shows.

    LOL My parents knew someone who was crew on his show. The glass actually contained REAL Wine. Since multiple shows were taped in a day. As the shooting day progressed, the consumption of wine continued, if you watch carefully, you can tell at what time of the shotting day the episode was filmed, if it was one of the last shows of the day, he is completely snockered.

    I remember my Mother, putting off her heavy drinking, to watch this show. She never made any of his food, but, I think, was in love with him, in some part of her boozed up brain.

    We would walk home at lunch time, on Wednesday, My mom day off from work. To have lunch and watch the show, Michigan. He was a substitute, for a dad, who never talk to anyone. 8 kids to raise themself and find a way out alive.

    He was MR. Cool, with a big smile. My first job at 16teen was at a nice 24/7 dinner.

    It was a 3 part BBC programme from 2002 called The Way We Cooked about tv chefs. Episode one talked about Fanny Craddock and Graham Kerr. It should be on KZread.
