The toponym Gallipoli derives from the classical Greek Καλλίπολις (Kallípolis), which means "beautiful city".
There are other hypotheses, quite weak, which take their cue from the name given to the city by Pliny the Elder: Senonum Gallipolis, hypothesizing a colonization of an already existing Messapian site by Celtic populations (Galli Senoni).

The city of Gallipoli, extended into the Ionian sea, consists of a modern part on the mainland while the old city, a rare example of an island city, is on a limestone cliff connected by a masonry bridge of about 250 meters.
It retains its urban layout with its Baroque and Rococo palaces and its courtyard houses. Such a beautiful and picturesque city, would love to visit Gallipoli, mind you any of Italy. Your drone shots are spectacular, your music choices are wonderful and the sights throughout the video really paint your beautiful country to life. Agreed Esther, people are finally out and it seems, at least I hope it'll stay like this, that people are trying to enjoy again the normality of summer seasons, even with all the gloomy news we hear everyday. It was nice seeing finally people outside without masks as well, as it's always been. Gallipoli as its greek name is truly a "beautiful city". Famous too of course, but I had to film it as it truly deserves. Ohh... the Cathedral was stunning.... Thanks again dear Esther and wish you a nice weekend

Gallipoli is really beautiful in accordance with its name , vvery stunning sea panorama , churches are always amazing in Italy . Tafuri palace is so beautiful . Very lively atmosphere in this city . So many scooters 😀. Enjoyed very much . Sea is amazingly beautiful . Best wishes and a big ciao . 👍👍

Дорогой Пафнутий, очень рад снова видеть Вас. В самом деле, это знаменитый город (не мои обычные, должен сказать) и совершенно потрясающий... это, наверное, была прогулка, где было самое жаркое (почти 40°C!....) Красивое место...

@@StillWanderer Собор St. Agata великолепный и я нашёл фотографии фасада в интернете и это также очень красиво, как впрочем и другие церкви города! Это подтверждение вашего описания истории, что купцы, торговцы, ремесленники не жалели средств для строительства таких красивейших религиозных зданий. В целом город очень интересный и красивый, но мне кажется, что в нём мало туристов. Спасибо Риккардо за отличную экскурсию по такому интересному и замечательному городу! P.S. В Москве сейчас тоже жарко 32°C

Ah Gökçe, teşekkürler. Her zamanki kasabalarıma kıyasla gerçekten de ünlü bir kasaba :) Ben de çok sevdim... ama çok sıcaktı. Ama güneydeki bu bölgeyi bir kez daha ziyaret etmek harika.. Daha fazlasını göstereceğim. Geceleri de tüm ışıklarla küçük bir video yaptım... tamamen farklı bir kasaba gibiydi. Size güzel bir hafta ve ciao diliyorum!

Contente que la vidéo t'ait plu chère Bouchra ! C'est une ville célèbre celle-ci, mais j'ai l'habitude de filmer "l'inconnu". No tenia presente a Gallipoli porque no se comenta sobre este bello lugar. Soy descendiente de italianos; mi abuelo materno era de Salerno (donde supe estar). Italia es un pais espectacular al igual que su gente y aqui hablo de los del sur que fueron los que conoci. Personas muy cordiales y hospitalarias. Salve Italia!!!

Già Mark, ormai è un appuntamento fisso. Ogni estate devo tornarci...sempre lontanuccio da dove sono io ... Ma mi sento a casa laggiù... Molto di più che nei luoghi dove sono cresciuto nel centro Italia devo dire. Ho filmato un po') ne inserirò altri
Video stupemdo; hai però omesso di farci vedere il monumento più bello di Gallipoli. Al minuto 1,27 hai inquadrato il lato zud dell'Oratorio di Santa Maria della Purità che considero, in miniatura, la capella Sistina di Gallipoli per la sua bellazza interna. Peccato 😪

Gallipoli doesn't belong to Costiera Amalfitana, plus none of them is on the Adriatic.

Gallipoli is in the region of Puglia, which lies between the Adriatic and the Ionian sea. It's far away from the Amalfi coast.

Vero la famosa tramontana Gallipolina , anche la tramontana a San Foca non scherza (sul mar Adriatico)😂

@@marialuciamanco4095 In quei giorni era scesa la bora dal Nord Adriatico. Riuscimmo a visitare solo il capo di Santa Maria di Leuca; a quella di Otranto dovemmo rinunciare, il vento era davvero insopportabile!
