I think Artenda is a good resource, but a few more features that let you filter out whether the opportunities are paid, have no entry restrictions or being able to sort by deadline (for example) would be immensely helpful.

Thank you very much. I will definitely make an account there. There are too many wired open calls out there for ridiculously high fees (up 100 $/€) with no real benefit regarding an artist´s reputation. Some of them are okay to fill up your CV a little bit - especially at the early stages of your career. But from a certain point, we really want to go for the solid and serious open calls that will enhance our career. :-)

They say time is money but for artist not only this too, where to go and what to find once there. Crucial absolutely most crucial of all. Time isn”t about money for us. It’s about working free from encumbrance. When in our studios and working this is central. That matters outside of that have way of being addressed. Another great video for the tool box thanks CAI!

Hi there, the pleasure is all mine! 🙌 In general, I believe there are more art opportunities and open calls in Europe as European countries have more public funds for their institutions. Artenda is also based in Europe, so there is also a slightly stronger focus on the European open calls from this perspective. Nevertheless, Artenda lists 17 open calls for artists in the US at this very moment, as they aim to map and share all open calls across the globe. Wishing you the very best!

Thank you for searching in South America. I didn’t get notice nor come across it there. I have hadvnow over 5 application experiences here at artenda. No success yet. However lots of insight into writing these statements that fits the word counts… say. My website has a small collection of my works. Must just keep working on my current collection… the online classes are not yet accessible. I came across … Creative Capital Foundation… it seems prestigious… is this accurate? It is also crucial to follow the guidelines for the applications very closely, setting up a professional and concise application without grammar or spelling errors. The creative capital foundation is indeed a prestigious open call. Go for it!

I wonder if Artenda provides information on opencalls and exhibitions in Asia.

Great question! First and foremost, standing out with your art (a topic we have created a video for in the past), a professional artist profile (cv, bio, portfolio, website, etc.), and especially following the submission guidelines very closely and professionally. Art opportunities are very competitive, but in the end, great art will always come through

There are indeed some free alternatives, but the selection is not always as good, nor is the personalized search tool, they don't provide suggested open calls for your personal preferences by mail, and we do not have any courses on how to apply to them successfully, whereas Artenda provides all of this, specializing in art opportunities. The fee is very reasonable, and it is simply too important to find good open calls efficiently and frequently.

In Belgium I would have to say SMAK & Wiels, Tim Van Laere, Xavier Hufkens, Stems, Zeno X (which closed this year), and many more. Abroad, plenty of choice, but I would say Semiose & Galleria Continua, Tate Modern & Pompidou. Have a great day!
