Galina Ulanova Coaching

What caught my attention about this footage of Galina Ulanova teaching was the extraordinarily beautiful porte de bras she demonstrates - the intense feeling infused with the form, even in this classroom situation. There is something natural and inevitable about it.
Ulanova is coaching several couples including Ekatrina Maximova and Vladimir Vasiliev. It’s lovely to see the unwavering focus between all concerned.
Enjoy!

My gosh, I have never spent so much time on someone's personal channel, I love it! So glad I discovered it. I like to skim through the whole thing and then go back and watch the longer docs...... but yours never ends, and it's so pleasing!

This Satie music just reminded me of a beautiful film Painted Veil... there is something very sad about it... Ulanova was incredible teacher..

yes, the Satie has a very reflective quality. Painted Veil - was it the film bases on the Maugham novel you were thinking about? yes, she seems a great teacher - totally focussed and empathetic

Yes.. very beautiful, reflective film with Satie's music as a main theme. She was so elegant, quiet, reserved but gave it all as a teacher, Nikolai has her grace and she was one of the leading forces in his life.

TheBallet1 yes, everything works towards expression - and there is nothing of asking the audience to watch the ballerina, where the dancer's awareness of and wish to engage the audience gets in the way of what the dancing should be all about.
