Jeff Springer Since the p20 night mode uses long exposure And since the s9 takes better low light shots in straight up auto mode I think a 1 or 2 second exposure will do the s9 justice against night mode Besides that's not that too long of an exposure (1 sec) so shake wouldn't really matter I shot a 4 sec exposure on the s9 in one of Samsung's low light demos and it didn't look so bad So in the end, a 1 or 2 sec exposure will be enough to get to the night mode or even beat it because of the F1.5 aperature

@@kcmega007 big miss? I've survived without it. My friends who have Samsung 9 plus says their phones has to be recharged during the day. Never happened to my P20 Pro which I also have bluettoh on all bloody day.

Though it's not a deal breaker, I had an IR blaster on my LG V20 and it was a really great feature! I loved coming home from work at 11pm and not have to look for where my kids hid the remote controls 👍

Justin Time Yeah, but that should matter and that is never counted into the thickness of the phone becuase what people care about in a phone isn't how thick the phone is with the camera sticking out, it's how thick the body of the phone is.

Both nice phones , i would much rather have a headphone jack and sd card than an ir blaster . I have a couple of phones with ir blaster and never use that feature. I also like the dex station feature available on the galaxy , this is very cool , also the edge functions on the galaxy i use fairly often , And i would agree the edge screen is a compromise , Finding a screen protector that works with a case can be a pain , But imo the good points outweigh the bad.

Only thing, what I don't like on my p20 pro, is the MESSAGE app from Google, it's implemented in the system and I can't delete it, and can't use the standard app by Huawei for SMS, its impossible (EUROPE VERSION)

Going from a s8 to a pro p20, the p20 has less bulk pre installed software, it is closer to stock android. The battery, display and camera are superb.

So much more detailed than Unbox Therapy. Thanks! PS. Activate the P20 Pro IR blaster and point it at the S9 camera an watch the S9 screen.

P20 pro face recognition works as fast as the iphone X You only pick up the phone and do not need to touch a button it will instantly show as you pick up and sees your face this works flawlessly and a big ease The second one is you don't need to push anszer button or slide to answer you simply place the phone to your ear and it will accept the call automatically which is another great feature Batttery, ergonomy, camera wise it is way better than the galaxy s9 and I never wanted to use my galaxy s9 after buying the p20 pro

This is really cool. My ex Mate 9 do that with pretty good speed. But one thing is missing from Huawei, the IR camera for the face recognition. Because the Iphone X see your face in the dark, but the P20 Pro dont, and the Mate 9 either.. Sadly.. But if I wrong, excuse me!

I have a mate 10 Pro as well , still function good , fast and reliable . Never frustrated for battery. I had also tested The P20 Pro night mode photograph , its amazing , 4 second of continuous shooting with no shaking effect and even come with good dynamic range at Night.

Nice nice.. But a missing 4K stabilization... So its a little bit thrifty, I think..

When you said about bixby button that people not like it because you can easily tap by mistake why you disnt mentioned that it can be turned of and problen solved for those who do not need it? I using it on dayli basis and for me is great, and i like that freedom which bixby have and not answering just like a machine. Bixby button can be just plus not a minus.

I missed the ir blaster. This phone is amazing 👌

so the auto was better on s9 plus bec it was brighter not the yellow thing that he said,that was a very bad reason yellow but everyone will say that the s9 one was better bec it s brighter bec u need a brighter photo...,low light ha.. and also the night mode is kinda weird bec it s like the ace thing bec s9 plus has this in pro mode too ....yea u need to stabilise this but still...from what i say the night mode in some cases strugles to be like tge AUTO mode from s9 plus

S8 or P20 Pro???

I have a P20 Pro. First disappointed, regretting not getting the galaxy S9 plus which takes the best pictures in my opinion. But then I tried pro mode 40mega photo adjusting only ISO and the result is SOOOOO much better than regular 40mega on normal mode with all this silly sharpening. Plus the zoom is incredible and nothing beats the night mode. The P20 has larger battery, I don't play demanding games and my headphones are Bluetooth, a memory stick solves the problem of storage and I believe a curved screens like in the galaxy can break more easily and more expensive to replace. (Put a shortcut to access and delete raw 76MB images and just keep the converted ones).

The only issue is that long exposure on other phones is not nearly as stable in my experience as the night mode on P20 Pro.

Jeff Springer Use pro mode on Samsung and that's it, it's more advanced than P20's. I've compared S9+'s pro mode against P20 Pro's and it seems to be more advanced on P20 Pro but it isnt.

I checked out some sample pics of the night mode on P20 Pro and they look like paintings, i would never use it. I don't think it's a 4s exposure, it's more like taking different exposures for 4 seconds and the trying to stitch them together. Samsung had awesome OIS even on the galaxy S6, i could take a blur free shot hand held up to 1/2 second. I would probably prefer that over some overprocessed images.
