@@svensantesson2020 How good it looks probably depends on the optical quality of the lens, and with tiny lenses it's not going to be ideal. Digital "zoom" isn't really zoom, it just digitally enlarges the image, pretty much the same as cropping it later on, you don't gain any more detail, you're just concentrating on a smaller area. With optical zoom you're really enlarging the image and getting more real detail. In other words, the more detailed and larger the image is, the more you can "zoom" on parts of it and get a decent size and clarity. The best thing is to get closer to your subject and not use zoom at all.

@@TekWhizz Thats the Point. If you use high Resolution Sensors it is enlarging the Image even With digital Zoom. Imagine a 108mp Sensor, a huge one, that Always bines down to 12mp. And compare this 2x cropped in (and than without Pixel bining) to an 2x optical Zoom With 12mp. Your digital cropp from the huge Sensor is going to Look better. Yes the optical Zooms nowdays are often more than 2x and there is No huge 108mp Sensor in the way i meant huge. But you cant say optical ist better Just because it is optical. It is, but Thats more Like that Woman are less tall then Men. In generell Thats right but a tall Woman is taller than a tall man, as a good digital Zoom is going to Look better than a Bad optical Zoom, although the Advantage of the Zoom being optical is very big. Also you have to know What your Image is for. My Galaxy fold3 has about 4Million Pixels on its large Display. If i dont Zoom in, doesnt Matter If in the camera or in a Tanken picure, i only See "4mp" of the Image. So when i digitaly Zoom in one My 12mp Sensor (or the Image after i have Tanken the picture) i will in fact See more than before. I wont get more information Like you Said, but i will see the information (without manually cropping in). But for Sensors that Bine it is even Like that you gain information. I mean, you arent wrong With What you Said, but you cant say that digital Zoom doesnt give you more information. Because: 1. Pixel Bining that stops (compare a 1,5x Image to a 2x one on the iPhone 14 pro, the 2x has more Megapixels) 2. Your usecase. No Smartphone has a 12milion Pixel Display but Most at least have 12megapixel Cameras. So this is the Case where you were the Most right but with this you are able to Show Detail after one your Image without cropping in, Especially when you send the Image on whatsapp where you often loose Most of the Image quality. 3. Ai enhancement, ai often makes Zoom Look better, See the 10x one the S24? But yes, ai enhancement is No Detail gaining...

Nice work! For some reason the S23 always just seems sharper and more detailed? Although sometimes the color is better on the S24? Maybe although less sharp, the S24 may be more "natural?"

Many of the photos look clearer and brighter on the S23 which was interesting, even some of the 5X shots which I didn't expect. I look forward to the full comparison.

Good evening, Very good comparison, I have the S23 Ultra and I am very satisfied with it, I don't understand why almost all the smartphone testers on KZread make us believe that a digital zoom is better than optical, it's just that commercial marketing, and it's difficult to trust. I have no idea though to be completely honest I've found that sometimes the 10X digital zoom on other phones can be occasionally on par but it's digital anyway that's why what Samsung should have done is to improve the 10X optical zoom even more not fall back on the 5X optical zoom. Samsung really needs to stop that sickening obsession with Apple and do dumb things under the Apple effect. Thanks for watching the video and stay safe.

​​@@Moyaiville_ProductionsA variable optical zoom system is rumoured to be coming to the S25 Ultra. This is only a rumour though obviously. It is being frequently reported that a 50Mp Ultrawide sensor will feature on the 25U. This will almost certainly happen.

It was close. I would like to see zooming in lower light, to see if the brighter aperture helps give the S24 Ultra edge over the S23 Ultra. Also zooming at 20x, 30x, 40x, 50 and above. Go to the top of Hilly Field and take photos of Crystal Palace mast, to see how detailed the photos are.

This is my new best tech. channel ...i totally agree that 5x was a bad move by samsung ....they could have easily put a 200 mp sensor on the 3x (honkr magic pro has 150mp sensor on 2.5x and it gives pretty good results till 10x ). and 50m sensor on the 10x (sensor crop till 20x ) and that would have been an upgrade ....they went back to the s20ultra days which had a 4x with 48 mp sensor .. .atleast they could have opted for a very high quality large aperture 5x huge sensor like the vivo x100 pro 4.3x floating tech hardware etc or opted for a 200mp sensor on 5x .they ckearly had the tech to do that ..but samsung went backwards... Google pixel 7 pro already had this ...they went back 2 years in tech ....😢. Lack of competition...the chineese phones dont come to the us market and the only competition is iphone .

The 5x optical lens has been added for video recording capabilities. While the 8K video can be captured using the 5x optical lens, the 10x optical lens is not particularly useful. If you have used the S23, please provide information on the frequency of your usage of the 10x zoom feature.

Is the Note 9 still your favorite device? I'm currently using a Note 20 Ultra but I also own the S21 Ultra.

Yes, it is still my all-time favourite. I started using the S24 Ultra this week to fully test it (I have to) but very likely to go back to Note 20 Ultra as my main phone after a while. @@Soto-Tech2020 is the Note 20U like your 2nd all time favorite? It seems like in a lot of ways, the Note 20U is like a spiritual successor to the Note 9.

Indeed... They should have ditched 3x and come up with at least 3.5x to say 7x or 8x variable zoom lense with wider aperture and high res... Or two fixed periscopes 5x &10x... Selling for $1300 a bar, makes it quite possible for'em...

I am not sure about the issue!? Of course a digital zoom can never outperform an optical lens zoom, but Samsung have done an amazing job with the digital zoom programming nevertheless. A digital zoom is meant to take over when the lens can't reach further, not to replace it. It's a step backwards to reduce optical zoom.

I upgraded from a cracked Galaxy 10 screen to the S24 Ultra. My first Ultra phone and I was excited. When I started to take pictures with it, I was disappointed. I found there was too much noise for the price I paid. Then the 10x optical zoom. I wish they kept it instead of replacing it with the 5x. This video shows a huge difference between the two. Kind of feeling buyers remorse right now.
