I've noticed that some people think that providing 7-year updates for smartphones is unnecessary and a overkill since most people change their phones every 2 to 3 years. However, I appreciate the updates because it means I can give the phone to my mom and it will still be supported with updates. So, I see it as a win situation.

Yes, and it also provides long term value. So if you wanted to sell the phone after a few years, it would be worthwhile unlike phones with 2 years of updates total

because all reviewers are the dual phone kind, they can say how much they like their android they are still in the "iMessage is needed for friends and family" which show how much apple creeped into US users, even a well known apple "hater" like linus from ltt still got an iphone... which says how unrealistic they are compared to normal ppl that only use one phone

Being a tech enthusiast means you understand good tech. The Apple Watch is the best smartwatch. If you’re on Android as well (which I am), it’s so hard to find a good smartwatch that matches the Apple Watch. I usually turn to Garmin for that, which happens to lack many of the smartwatch features. Samsung needs to work on their accuracy when it comes to GPS and heart rate. The watch needs to be more polished.

Omg I have the same experience, with galaxy note 10+ it still works great and I am going to finally upgrade to s24u next week and use note 10+ just in my store I use dex there is going to be great I think, even though it doesn’t update anymore, it does what I need wonderfully. this 7 years update was what set the decision for me, because in my country this phone cost 1 year average salary who would change every year? Seems crazy

Really appreciate that companies outside of Apple are starting to adopt a 7 year policy. I used an iPhone 6S for 6 years, from 2015 to 2021, with a battery replacement. For some people, it’s hard to justify a purchase like a flagship smartphone and most people don’t even use all the bells and whistles. I justified upgrading to a newer iPhone (but never entertained the thought of Android phones) because it was a phone that would last me a long time. Now I have more options and I really liked the S24 design! Great review as usual, Thao.

It is an Acquired taste mate , i faced the same dilemma being an only android user but jumping into the iphones from the 12 series , the first 3 months i just wanted to burn it :) ( but i liked the hardware ) , however i stuck it out , and once you learn how it works and become accustomed to it , its actually pretty good , i have 5 phones , 3 android and 2 iphones , and the iphone is the one i carry always . Up to you , i`d probably give it a chance though , it does have some appealing features once you get used to it , if not , you can always change down the track . @@chadwickwood9843

The one thing Most of us forget is the software upgrades can really enhance battery 🔋 Life if the choose to do so. I know the basics with lowering screen light to being sure an app isn't using an extremely large amount of energy. Sometimes it's to much for the kind of app you're using.Even 5 years ago many phones could get a least 2 days of battery life with a conservative usage operation. They intentionaly don't tell you how for obvious reasons. This was a great review. I'm still using the S22 Ultra .The A I I feel is a marketing gimmick with a Expiration date they are completely silent about. We have enough subscriptions to deal with Unless you use your phone for professional usage it's not necessarily an option that most of us will use.We will see what really works great. The camera change to 5X is a great move and transition while filming is awesome as well. One other option to consider is being sure you buy the 512gb version to allow longer Videos in 4k or even 8k options know 128gb for any phone. Simply because the updates daily on apps is using all the space just for that so really consider this as a Nessary option even surpass the 256GB will quickly become limited. No matter if you are heavy user or light it will again limit everything. I'm babbling I know. Great Video 😊

I totally agree about how wonderful spontaneous imperfect pictures can be. You are my favorite reviewer, I always look forward to your excellent clear and thorough reviews.

Both OS are great. Both phones work great. Historically iPhone OS has a simpler feel to it with a very smooth OS with android offering more complex feel with more customization. Depends on what you like. I was android for 8 years and went back to iPhone and my personal experience has been so great. There are certain things I miss about having an android but overall having a phone that the operating system really just works all the time is very underrated. ALSO.. Apple doesn’t rely on google or anyone else to make their phone experience. That’s a HUGE plus when it comes to eco system and user experience.

Got s24 ultra in last friday. Still got my s23 ultra for the moment. Yea its a nice phone but not happy with the display at all. Looks very grainy and dull compared to s23 ultra. Tried loads off settings but still not as shiny and clear. Lots of talk regarding this at the moment so will wait and see what the next upgade brings.

Yea phone display is washout vivid mode don't even work and phone not even that bright let u know software update won't work cause display runs off hardware!! I'm keeping my s23 ultra 100%

Its pretty funny how some of the old features creep back out of the woodwork , like the local weather showing up on the screen , my old LG G5 used to do that :) . As for the wallpapers , Ai or otherwise , ive never used them , i always put a wallpaper that comes from my camera roll , thats just me ..

Good 2 hear the new Phone will have DEX preforming better. I notice when Gaming on DEX with the new Games a slowdown sometimes with the phone. I had this same problem with new games on my Note 8 then when I upgraded to the S21 Ultra they ran fast and smooth and they still do to this day, but now I'm playing a new game that's more PC like and I notice more power is needed again when using DEX.

Screen mirroring used to be same. But now work easly without a sweat. U dnt even notice that the phone is being used for mirroring

Love your channel!❤ you’re always on point with your review. I don’t know if you can help me with my “problem” but I’m currently using a midrange Samsung Galaxy A34 5G. Amazing phone and it gets the job done. It has a 1080p super amoled full HD screen but.. I noticed the screen looks grainy/noisy you know what I mean? Like those vintage/aesthetic photos with grain/noise effect. I can clearly see it when brightness up to 50%, on white/bright colors, when scrolling through socials and swiping through photos. It might not be a huge deal but it can sometimes be annoying especially when watching a movie. I don’t know if it’s normal with super amoled displays but I find it very odd. Anyway keep up the good work! I always love your intro “hey guys! Thao here”

What note app were you using?

(*IMO) A question to the 7 years guaranteed OS updates. Will it still run as smooth as the first 1-2 years? after like 3-4 years? which is a downside to many phones previously. After like maybe 1 and half years later of software updates, the entire phones tends to lag or stutter even by open the stock apps, which i faced during when the Note series are still around.

I spy a Gamesir G8! Also, the grainy grey images could be an actually display issue, and not the anti reflective coating. There has been tons of debate on this.

I think the antireflective coating is a mistake. What type of screen protector should you install? A clear one that will likely increase reflectivity. A matte one which will probably make the screen too grainy. The best option is not to install one but then you have to deal with micro scratches.

Thank you very much Thao. A level headed review as usual🙂. I used my Note 10 Plus for over 4 years before recently replacing it with a 512 GB model of the S23 Ultra. No regrets. I'll mosey likely use it for another 4 years. Samsung offering 7 years of updates is great news for people who sell their phones or those who buy used phones

Just got my S24 Ultra all set up and I must say the flat screen is a breath of fresh air vs my S23 Ultra from the last year. Much easier to use side gestures and the spen not to mention much better protected in a case. Should be able to find a quality screen protector this year with the flat panel as only plastic ones worked well on the curved panel. One thing that isn't talked about by every Reviewer is the lack of reflections on this new Armor screen, it's crazy when compared next to my S23 Ultra. Waiting for my Quad Lock case to be delivered so treating her extra careful in the meantime. For anyone needed screen replacement or even a new battery installed, I'd highly recommend going with Samsungs Door to Door Repair service. They sent me a box the next day with a free return label and replaced an S22 Ulta screen for over $150 cheaper than the local repair shops. I was also guaranteed an OEM screen (instead of a cheap Chinese knockoff that many repair shops use instead) and had my phone back the same week. I'm also quite certain they could replace a battery for less than $190 that Thao was quoted by some local repair company in Toronto, that sounds crazy high.

You echo my sentiments exactly. The wife and I have S22 Ultra's and are looking at the S24 Ultra's. Sure, we'd like to have for the AI and other tweaks, but really? Spend another $1,200 x 2? When, we can wait for one year and get S25 Ultra WITH the 7 years from that time. I think so. I'll be 69 next year and well, 7 years of updates on that phone will take me to...where it probably won't matter! LOL By the way, did I mention we still have and use our Note 9's! It's the earphone jack. I don't see giving those up anytime soon. Now, wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if they brought those back in '25! The battery span for (Sony) buds are not enough, although I do still favor my wireless Sony headphones.

I've seen some comments about the screen looking washed out and not as vibrant as the S23 Ultra. Is there any truth to that? Is the anti-reflective screen creating a dull display?

The weather showing up on the lock screen is one of the things I miss so much from LG. 😢

Even though its a 5x lens, it was boosted to 50MP which allows for 10x optical zoom as well vs the S23U which only has a 10MP 10X zoom lens.

ESR cases magnet so strong it interferes with Spen even without an accessory. FYI

Samsung only did one thing that the people asked for, which was to make the ultra with a flat screen, but didn't make the selfie camera hidden under the display along with making the screen a 144hz refresh rate and giving it a 16 gig ram. I mean, even the s21 ultra came with 16 gig ram and were in 2024 it should DEFINITELY automatically come with a 16 gig ram. They also are going backward in charging capabilities. It should come with 65w fast charging automatically. For the price, it's just unnecessary...

Yeah considering they had 45W charging on the Note 10, 25w is unacceptable. My Motorola Edge Plus 68W charging makes it top notch in my book I might try the One plus 12 this year but we will see.

as for the updates and people not using the phones for that long, yes, yes they do, especially those of us that buy them outright!!! I am about to update my S10 plus and to be honest, the only real reason to do it is the end of the updates. Sure there are better cameras now, but the older one was fine and had a memory card slot, screen a little better but the old one was still pretty dam good. Processor quicker but they old one wasn't slow, so yep, more than four years would make me a happy chappy.

OK @@grim789 The 24plus and ultra are copying//setting up and first off, bloody hell this process is much easier than it used to be thank god. BUt the 24plus feels slightly larger and the Apple shape is even more obvious in the flesh, but I am ok with that. They look and feel great if slightly heavier than the 10plus, but I might be imagining it. The ultra is of course much bigger in the hand but this too feels lovely.

Shoutout for having the Note 20 Ultra in the background lol! I wish they would give us the One UI 6 update 😩 6:42 what media player is that?

Looks like an amazing phone. One thing I like is the screen is flat. No more curved screens. Even though that is an upgrade alone, I'm going to stick with my S23 Ultra. I'm happy with it so no need for me to upgrade. And I still have to pay it off so there is that. May wait till the S25.
