zenphone 9 represents what happens when you make your phone slightly thicker to allow for a larger battery. Huge battery performance gains. and its thick enough to gasp, add a headphone jack.

This phone was on my short list and I didn't get it because of the software support, I do regret that decision though. I really hope Asus phones start becoming popular, they deserve it.

@@Duplex39 just get it. I've been getting amazing battery life with the ZenFone 9, and Asus has been surprisingly good with updates as I'm already on Android 13 and recently got the latest February security patch.
The Zenfone 9 is beyond impressive. It’s really shocking how good the battery life is

Yea and after 1 year. -1000mah verry bad quality asus battery. My róg phone 5 after 1 year and 2 month Sot its bad than s21+ . My rog phone 5 do about 7h and s21+ 9h Sot same apps and usage

@@shivamkrishn Okay considered, but I don't think that's the reason why. They have time markers in the video which allows the viewer to jump to any part of the video. So you're incorrect. I don't think this battery test is accurate nor honest. The very least they can do is un-blur the time on the status bar so we can see how much time has really passed.

While it's a nice test it's really not a good representation of how good battery life you can expect out of these phones in real life, since they only test 2 apps. It's more about how optimized the phone is for chrome/safari and and KZread app. Samsung phones for instance, always performs worse when it comes to streaming videos in the KZread app.

This style of battery test makes more sense that others who run a mix of different tasks from gaming to browsing to watching vids, since that mix would obviously differ from one person to the other. Thanks for the useful comparison; the S23 seems to have fixed the one problem that stopped me from buying it last year which was the subpar battery life. The Zenfone 9 would've been an option for me if it had wireless charging and was available where I live; maybe that will change with the Zenfone 10.

They do it to save time Running 30 minutes benchmarks and video exports and 1 hours 4k recording, as we all do each time we charge our phones 😂 They just don't want to spend 30 hours doing a battery test, those 🤡 spend 9 hours on battery tests and by the end of the video they're already crying that it didn't let them sleep and asking for subs because of it. It's so pathetic, like bro everybody knows you're lying, you either just fake crying for subs or you're actually retarded to not expect phones to last 9 hours in 2023, and do the test on your Saturday or your off day, right?

Not realy because noone charges there phone then sits and watches continuous youtube vids until it dies do they.peoples daily usage consists of a bit of instagram,facebook,reading sending replies on whatsapp and messenger,surfing internet sites,bit of youtube,takes some photos etc etc so the other type of battery tests are more realistic in my opinion

@@benjiize That's not the point; the point I'm making is that people can relate to the impact of browsing the web or watching youtube on their batteries, while other tests that use an arbitrary mix of tasks is harder to relate to since everyone uses their phone differently, imo anyway.

@@arnav.w2672 I know, that's why I'm leaning towards the S23, but I will still check out the Zenfone 10 to see if it's going to be meaningfully smaller than the S23 and add wireless charging (the current version doesn't have it), which would outweigh the longer software update period offered by Samsung for me. That is if Asus sells the phone where I live to start with.
Ditched the Pixel 7 for the 23. Standby drain on Pixel 7 is 2-3x higher then on the S23. SOT in everyday use (my personal usecase) is around 7-8 hours on S23, whereas the Pixel 7 just got me around 5-6 hours. Love the stock Android experience, but Tensor G2 is just too damn inefficient.

Same except i ditched mine for a S23+. The Pixel 7 had okay SOT for me but as you said the standby drain was bad to the point i had to turn on full batterysaving mode while asleep. That along with the hollow/plasticy feeling(edge bonded display) while typing/tapping which made the phone feel cheap and some pixel features missing in my country made me switch. I like googles software but their phone hardware is not quite there yet imo.

@HeIsKawie93 Nah having owned a Pixel 6 and currently having a Pixel 7 I can confirm that standby battery drain is a real thing. Unless I put my phone on bedtime mode it will drop 10%+ overnight.

And it's not as optimized as sd or mtk. Some games will lead to laggy, and glitches, which is unplayable just like exshitnos, which y'all should worry about.

What i like about the s23 is light mode. I tried 60 hz on light mode and got 37 hours on 1 charge. 7 hours sot and 30 hours standby. Nice video!

Amazing. What did you run in those 7 hrs sot? Give us rough percentage between browsing, gaming, chatting, watching KZread / netflix, etc.
Huge respect to the Zenphone. Since my purchase with the iPhone 14 Pro battery life was amazing and still is. It’s a 1,5 half day phone for my use case scenario, on LTE I’m averaging about 6:30 to 7 hrs of SOT.
I was thinking about to replace my zenfone 9 with the new galaxy s23 but after this test i will keep the zenfone. Thank you!

Comparing smartphones with different refresh rates doesn't have much sense. For example, S23 and iPhone 13 are similar in this tests, but to be fair, the S23 should be setted at 60Hz too. Bruh. Pixel 7 have 90Hz... Also: S23 is a BIG step toward S22 not for SOT only, but for idle battery drain that is way lower... SOT is not all

@@yuze1050 it's because 120hz is adaptive refresh, which can go down to as low as 24hz so yeah a bit unfair? And 60hz is locked.

iPhone 13 and 14 isn't impressive by considering the fact that they have just 60hz refresh rate in comparison to s23. So S23 is very impressive.

@@hayden172 I understand your point but still it's not fair, since iPhone has its own OS and chip which is helpful for it since iOS is a very lite OS in comparison to Samsung OneUI which is having a base of Android with a skin of Samsung on top, as a result of which it has way more background processes running than iOS. Also the change in refresh rate between 60 and 120 gives a battery backup difference of upto 2 hours.

Assus has developed the excellent product for small phone funs. Especially while current trends appreciate big phones first. Keeping fingers crossed they are going to deliver same experience with model 10

Me too, s23 have number year of updates, usb 3.2 can connect mhl and Samsung deck. The only downside is the storage, they doesn't come with 512gb model.

I am using zenfone 9. I got it as gift. Its travel buddy phone. Can take a lot of pics without losing much juice. I have already synced 90 gb of pics and videos to my google account just last year.

I believe the reason why the pixel u lasts as long as it does on youtube was because of hardware codec support for all codecs that youtube uses, while every other phone besides the s23 has too ise software too compensate for processing the vid

What about mixing the tests on devices. I mean 1 hour of browsing, 1 H of games playing, 1H video playback. 1H camera etc. It will be a more realistic usage of a phone. Please consider this for the next tests.🙏

Bro 1 year back when i was planning to buy iphone i visited a shop to test gogle pixel i was thinkin to buy that but then when i tested iphone 13 i was literally fallen in love with that device everything freking thing is perfect ❤and end up buying iphone 13 starlight (128gb)❤ rn its been 1 year totally satisfied with iphone ❤

I was using the Zenfone 9 for 2 months and yes the battery life is so damn amazing. But switches to S23 coz the screen, camera and UI are just better in my opinion

The S23 has a 120 Hz screen, so it cannot be compared to the iPhone 13 and 14, as it only has 60 Hz.

I couldn't find the reason either. Probably because the iPhones over-report their percentages at the beggining. But it shouldn't matter since he skips to the end of the test either way.
How did the pixel 7 lose to the s23 for the browsing test ? It doesn't make sense when the pixel 7 got 3rd place on video test but how didn't get 3rd place In the browsing it's less power

@@lordlopes2424 Personally it's not a big factor because I am tech saavy enough to know how small is the risk of getting malware on a phone, especially if you know your stuff, but most people are scared and change phone as soon as it doesn't get updates anymore... Having said that, every now and then there are some nice features that come with updates, like dark mode or battery health protection that you simply don't get if you don't get the update...
I proud i am using white zenfone 9 right now...batery truly amazing...system so smooth ,no lag..video amazing, photo just moderate,screen super amoled samsung so pretty, have gaming system app like rog and it have 5 to 6 antena around phone to get best signal compare to other phone😁😁😁
This isn't an accurate depiction of realistic usage. This is why you're supposed to test all apps with equal usage time to the realistic battery life that you can expect, testing apps separately on their own doesn't really show what real world battery life they will get on their phone. Please test all general apps

I doubt they are all in 60hz, Light mode + 60hz on s23 = easy win over the others except zenphone, that thing is a beast.

I think like many people watching this video we were tempted to get the Zenfone 9 during the summer but then they said it would only get two years worth of updates and so it became dead on arrival ….It gets great battery life that won’t get updated more than two years. It’s a joke at this point.

@@lordlopes2424I used the base zenfone 4 with the snapdragon 425, that a pay 200 dollars for 3 years and it never lag, I'm saying to you never even have a single lag and I switched to Sansung and I got the iPhone 13 pro max as a birthday gift and all off then where less stable than my old zenfone.
The zenfone 9 battery life is very impressive for a compact phone. 👏🏼👏🏼

It's average on a small screen size.
Zenfone 9 just have only 4300mah battery, similar to iPhone but getting much more battery backup.
Pixel 7 is the real surprise here. My Pixel 7 was REALLY, REALLY BAD. I was lucky if I could get 4 hours of SOT. The phone would get really HOT, and later died of minor water exposure. Downgraded to Iphone 12, now iphone 12 would get me around 5 hours of SOT. Seems like it's a hit or miss with Pixel 7, not consistent enough. It was the best camera and software experience I've ever had.

That's not fair you just put the normal version of s23 up against 14 pro you should've put s23+ against 14 pro then it would have been a fair comparison.

Pixel 7 lasts this long? I barely make it to evening before I am hunting for the charger. I have been using Pixel line for 6 years now and upgraded each year... One thing that has remained consistent is that... THE BATTERY LIFE S*CKS!!!
In my Opinion based on other battery tests above test doesnt reflect real life usage at all since we dont phone consistantly only on one job. Hence this is not a practical test

I'm all in on the asus , I almost puked the trigger on it. .my problem is the third party market it slim at best on this phone .I want a decent array of accessories for a phone and this one doesn't have it and it's too bad cause it's a awesome phone
wish you can add the Xiaomi 13 as it also has great battery life....me personally im done with with Samsung phones....just wait a few months down the line and that battery life will be cut in half.

While Zenphone 9 battery is excellent it's hard to buy it than S23 because in my country Samsung has very excellent after service.

It's average. Thanks to sd 8+gen1 thanks to a small screen.
Movie beats reality, same as always. My Pixel 7 barely gets 4h SOT compared to my wife's IPhone 13 which easily breaks 7h SOT, and neither of us are 'power users'. Massive battery drain in stand by, bugs, green screens. Just, overall, bad experience with the Pixel.
