I hate changing phones. I had a Sony compact. It has been underwater, in waterfalls, dropped from heights. Now 5 years on, when it's charging port started failing and battery life was failing and things were getting slow I was persuaded to get a new phone. Time was when small ruled. These new phones have a bigger screen size than an early portable tv. I got the A52. I remember buying cars for less than that! (the ones that sell for $27,000 today) Anyway, this is a truly amazing phone. It did a hearing test on me and showed that I had a deficit in my right ear, courtesy of military firing ranges. It then altered the music playback to cater for my hearing deficit. It literally was like hearing stereo for the first time! So after 7 days I am just amazed by the things this will do. I have even made telephone calls with it.

Wow I didn't know it could even do that. Yeah I've heard that Samsung are notoriously good with accessibility features but I couldn't even imagine it could correct audio for a hearing disability. Yeah my only problem with the phone is that it's huge, but there aren't many good compact phones nowadays, the pixel 4A is one of them, and there's also the Asus Zenfone 8 but it's much more expensive.

battery is a big factor for me so the 5000mAH on the a72 was the deciding factor. It lasts me the whole day on 1 charge overnight

Theres only a 60 dollar difference. The charger is actually 26 dollars . I would say the bigger battery is at least 10 bucks. The bigger screen from most reports is brighter and bigger on the 72 . The tele lense is at least 20 bucks worth or more with ois . I would say the a72 is worth that 60 bucks in spades .

I wanted to buy A52 ut got A72 instead. In my country A72 varient is 8/256 GB so overall Screen, Battery, Charger, Camera, Double storage, are enough for me to justify the price.

Pretty good comparison, Mike! I really feel disappointed with the Galaxy A72 because I was expecting more advanced features on this smartphone. But on the other hand, the Galaxy A52 is a really competitive device in this mid-range price, though! I really liked it a lot!

Am I the only one that thinks the screen size difference is actually significant? And for someone who likes larger screens it's a no-brainer...the A72 is almost a perfect phone. They won't release a 5g version because they will lose a ton of flagship buyers, me being one of them.

Hey Mike just one doubt, so both have octa core processors right. So how different octa core is than snapdragon can you make a video on that too. And as you said the battery difference is that A51 have 4500 and A62 have 5000 does because of slow processor batteries can die quickly compared to the snapdragon processor

I'm still using A71. It's been 14 months now. Excellent phone, obviously with some not-so-good downsides.

@@silver-nf4zc I have the a52 5g which has a slightly faster processor (sd 750g vs sd 720g on the 4g model), games run fast and smooth. I was scared of lag since its a midrange phone but I've had it for almost a month and so far I've noticed absolutely no lag or stutters whatsoever. It really is a solid phone!

A72 is a little bit overpriced.

Got the 4G/LTE version foor quite a bit less and I'm more than happy with it. In Canada the 5G model officially costs $659 which is bonkers, but since the 4G/LTE model isn't officially available here, I could it for $400. Really great value. And don't @ me about "but you could get a (higher specced Chinese brand) for the same/less money!"

I picked up the A52 4G recently as my note20 ultra died on me & it's a great phone overall

When comparing the 8/256Gb versions of these phones the difference is vanishing. I chose A52. Also, to people with smaller hands: A72 is kinda on the large side.

What's the live wallpaper that he uses for the lock screen? So far the a52 and a72 are good midrange phones that offer a lot of features.

You can get various live wallpapers from Samsung Themes app, both free and paid ones. Some are simple vids, some are slideshow sequences, some of those hold complex animations. Or you can basically use your own .mp4 media as lockscreen, but keep in mind that lock screen is only playing 15 seconds of your video, so make sure it is relatively seamlessly looped to avoid frame tearing.

Michael is was planning on getting the a52 white 5g but instead got the a72 black. I don't see much contrasts between the phones same 64mp camera 4k recording full hd @ 60fps fast charging, both 90hz both 256gb Yes maybe one phone does have better features than the other e.g the a72 have a slightly bigger screen One charges a bit slower the other, a longer battery So what, as long as lots of storage capacity 4k recording especially, I am taking it The only thing that bugs me is it didn't come with a sim card so I don't have a phone number Did yours?

@@samuellambert6128 basically the only differences between the two is the processor and the 5g has a better refresh rate screen.

A slightly bigger screen is everything in gaming, more room for my fingers.

Go for the A52 coz it's really worth the price. A72 is expensive af yet the "improvement" are not that superior.

@@MikeOBrienMedia This will sound bad. My Sony Vaio is a 2012 model. I doubled the memory, put in an ssd and it works like lightning. Windows 7 is a bit old school though. It can't be upgraded because of the steam powered video card.

I just bought an A52 two months ago to replace my Samsung S8, wish I still have it, still looks exactly like new just out of the box (which I also have with all of the gizmos that came with it lol), and I still use it for web browsing. But the A52 is a cool phone too, which I bought just for not having anything better to do, the new phone feeling, and the slightly bigger screen

Why Samsung didn't do ads for Galaxy A42 5G 🥲, cuz I'm using it lol (but they did for A32 and launch it in this year, but A42 5G was launched last November 🙄) btw A22 5G is also quite beautiful actually (and A22 5G was launched this June)..

I would appreciate a camera comparison between the A52 against the S20 FE, cause the S20 FE is a lot cheaper than the A52 now (in my country at least), just because the A52 is new. I still think the S20 FE camera is very hard to beat after I watched so many videos. I'm struggling to decide between the new Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G, the Samsung A52, or the Samsung S20 FE. The super slim body and look of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G is on another level, but I fear the cameras are better on the A52, or even better on the S20 FE, as the price is really really competitive right now. Here, the S20 FE is costing R$ 2,500, and both the new A52 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite are costing R$ 3,200 or more.

The S20 FE should *not* be cheaper, it's so much better at everything theres no contest. If it's cheaper in your country you should jump on that, because that means someone have messed up the pricing by a lot.

A72 battery is Li-Ion while A52 is Li-Poly right? For me that's also a big difference between these phones.

I got this phone, first what you need to do if you decide to buy it, is to do a heavy debloat.

well if you are getting some kind of transparent case and always like colorful themes you can choose any, as for black, it will look good in a transparent case and even better than the colored ones in rugged/non-transparent cases so you wont see the colors annoyingly pop out
