Gajar ka halwa, also known as gajorer halua, gajrela, gajar pak, and carrot halwa is a carrot-based sweet dessert pudding from the Indian subcontinent. It is made by placing grated carrots in a pot containing a specific amount of water, milk and sugar and then cooking while stirring regularly. It is often served with a garnish of almonds and pistachios. The nuts and other items used are first sautéed in ghee, a type of clarified butter from the Indian subcontinent

I'm of Norwegian descent and grew up in North Dakota but the minute this dessert touched my lips I was in love! It is by far my favorite dessert and Indian is my favorite cuisine! Whenever my husband and I eat it we always say "So this is what flavor is!" 😂❤

Thank you for showing how you make this delicious desert. You briefly mentioned the carrot season which probably answers a question I was waiting to ask... are you using Indian carrots as I doubt the regular ones we get over here in the UK would stay so colourful after being cooked?
