For the first time in 40 years, Gahanna Football is headed to the State Tournament after holding off New Albany, 25-17.
Makai Shahid provided the spark for the Lions, scoring on a 64-yard strike from Brennen Ward in the 2nd quarter and then giving Gahanna a momentous 88-yard kick return touchdown to secure the win.
Christian Manville and Dylan Rosser both surpassed 100 yards rushing for the Eagles with Manville's two scores giving New Albany a 2nd half burst before falling to the Lions.
New Albany finishes their season 10-4 with their first ever D1 Regional Runner-Up while Gahanna now prepares for St. Edward in a State Semi this Friday at Mansfield's Arlin Field.
