    Right, but you can get "rude" when that person is persistently crossing the line after you POLITELY make it crystal clear where said line is drawn. I don't get what this chick is smoking with the whole "if you're being threatened, be rude". We live in a society, you don't get a free pass for being rude right off the bat.

  • @r0ckbass

    @@nanifa6082 she's abrasive, but she's not out of line. if you feel threatened or unsafe, you 100% have the right to protect yourself. if that comes off as being rude but you end up not getting hit/robbed/raped/kidnapped/murdered/etc, so be it. there are some creepy mofos out there and if you don't feel like it, you don't owe them the luxury of giving them time to realize how creepy they're being. because sometimes they're more than creepy and have malicious intent, so you need to take control of the situation before it takes control of you. don't become the victim in the news story. prevent the story from ever taking place. it's these creepers that need to learn how to act in a society, not their targets.

    Nanifa where did she say be rude off the bat? You even wrote what she said, “IF you’re being threatened” because creeps tend to take someone being polite as a prompt to carry on harassing them

  • @nanifa6082

    @nanifa6082

    Simple, women like her tend to take things too far with unwanted advances in order to show off their independence. Its really simple to stay assertive yet polite without letting your emotions take control. Its also as simple as telling the would-be stalker a firm 'No' the first time, and the second time that "I will call the police on you if you continue/do not back off, in fact let me key in those 3 numbers into my cellphone right now and keep my finger above the Call button." Literally ANYONE who doesn't catch your drift beyond that will NOT respond differently if you were instead rude.

    You can establish boundaries without being rude. While Gabriel was trying to be "nice" by agreeing to dinner with the weirdo, that was a mistake. I would have politely refused the offer of dinner (just wildly inappropriate) but offered to send him something autographed (appropriate).

  • @hihowareyou6629

    @hihowareyou6629

    @@kck9742 you obviously just dont understand the mentality of people who fixate on other people. I had a female friend who smiled and said hi to a guy (literally just gave a casual smile and said "hi"). He followed her home, started sleeping in her back yard and knocking on her window in the middle of the night, and then somehow got her number (land line) and started saying violent, threatening twisted things to her. one of them was like, he "wanted to break every bone in her body so he could take care of her." Or something very similar. He thought it was romantic. The problem is, they're already obsessed before any interaction even begins. So the slightest communication (eye contact, smile, saying hi) is seen as conformation to the delusions they have. Your best bet is definitely being rude and short. I know it sounds horrible but I'm tellying ya..

    I love how Fluffy is such a kind man and how he makes himself "available" to his fans. That said, it's not rude to establish boundaries. If I'd been him, I would not have agreed to the dude's offer to make me dinner in the first place, regardless of his medical issues. I'd have told the guy that dinner couldn't happen, but offered to send him an autographed DVD or anything else he might like. That's establishing a boundary ("No, you're not my bud, you're a fan") while still being nice.

I politely asked her to stop. She took that as an ok to continue and progress for 4 years. They are not right in the head and don't think like we do. @@larrycoleman740 lol dude while fear mongering is stupid as hell you are awfully judgmental of someone you know literally nothing about. You're projecting your opinion onto someone who wrote what amounts to a paragraph. While I don't think you are wrong in intent. Your jumping of conclusions and saying people like you etc. Is nearsighted and unfounded specifically in this instance. On that note I believe a certain level of paranoia is warranted when it comes to any situation, Violence is the norm not the other way around. (Concealed carry FTW). Judging situations like these are the go to move,paranoia and fear an acceptable response. That being said you can't let it rule you once it affects your everyday life and you live in a constant state of anxiety stress..... You are not living. The alternative point to your own is that not everybody can simply live outside of this state. For some it is their reality. Abusive relationships, bad neighborhood, bad childhood etc. The commonality between these being that this behavior is usually a response to ones environment. It is a mentality not easily escaped as it is normally a well founded one. it is a survival mechanism. What you are referencing specifically is when this behaviour borders on pathological. And in that case you are 100℅ right. Being a victim, living in fear is not the correct response to the vast vast majority of situations. it's when people's ability to judge is fucked up (trauma) that this type of thing occurs. While I abhor the victim mentality and those that get there trauma free. I believe this to be the minority. Most people go through some shit to get to that point. Your single minded view point lacks empathy and understanding of human nature. Those people don't need your condemnation, they need therapy.

In an idealistic utopian world what you say is correct. we as a species should strive for it, because while we would never be able to fulfill such an ideal. That connection, that ability to trust is what has gotten us where we are today. But it is ignoring the reality of the matter. War, violence, hierarchical groupings, and discrimination are the fundamental reality of humans. These exist on every level of analysis. It is the 'human problem' Society as we know it the ever changing answer.(good or bad) The depths of human depravity and the atrocity's we have committed are boundless in nature. Look at history, hell look at a murder t.v show. Fear and paranoia are a natural response. Fear of the unknown is how our species survived. It is something so intamatly tied to human nature, to ignore it is synonymous with being used and abused by others. Why do you think laws exist. In this world the only person you can ever truly depend on\ trust is yourself. I can empathize with your shit experiences and your view, But for the fact that you insist on making assumptions of others and their ideals when you literally know nothing about them or their thoughts. You can not group others so simply and presume to know how they think and act. You have done this with abandon. Youre posts unfounded because you are projecting ideals you presume others hold. Rather than making a categorical encompassing statement. you insist that I and others think, feel and act a certain way, when you have no way of actually knowing. The fervor and obvious anger with which you write only proves my point. I do not think you even took a second to think through what I wrote previously much less try understand it, as we agree on most points. You did not take the time to organize your own thoughts much less form them into a cohesive argument. For these reasons I bid you good day, And good luck with your unreasoned existential hatred.

    I was a RA narc in college and an unfortunate side effect of that is stalkers. When kids go to college they lose the structure their parents created for them as the learn to become self sufficient and learn to structure their own life. College age is also when most mental illness first make their appearance. So this unawareness of illness and sudden lack of structure is a terrible combination for a lot of kids and this results in a lot of stalking and obessessing in college. As a RA i worked with police on half a dozen stalking incidents and they did not help a single one. Police almost have no legal authority until its too late. Gabriel might have a better chance of getting a restraining order by being rich and famous.

    I just wanna say that we writers are 'precious' about our writing, bc this is the first century wherein they're actually getting credited/appreciated. For years professional writers were being paid/used/ignored as if they didn't know what they were doing, even though a production can be made or broken by the script alone. It's obvious that Hollywood has been running dry for ages, and Netflix has some good ideas, but the real gold is where creativity has the reigns, not the potential views or ad revenues. That being said, can't wait for more Mr. Iglesias!

    "I never want to be rude, I never want to be mean." I've had 3 different stalkers. One of them tried to kill me more than once. Not being rude and mean is NOT an option when you're dealing with people like that. You have to be mean and rude and protective of yourself. Not being rude with a certain type of mentally ill folks can get you killed. I got a restraining order and a gun permit on the same damn day because of my stalker. I figured if one didnt work the other one would.
