I started crying when he said "barbaric". I live in the US and have spent my life within an undercurrent of fear. There is a violence and aggression here that permeates the air, greatly due to racism. But to hear Gabor define us as barbaric, brings tears, relief and great sadness to me.

@@wheremylifego3790 These are not good times for most people, Gabor is right about that. Just like in the Great Depression in the US in the 30s, the rich and powerful are doing very well indeed but most people? They are struggling and when governments choose policies that ignore equity, we all are in effect ignoring their ongoing trauma.

I survived my car accident with a semi by surrendering to the situation and the fact I would probably die all in about 2seconds, but like Dr. Gabor I forget as well.especielly in that day to day. I think it's easier to surrender to crisis then daily tasks and relationships. at times I have to go back to that 2 seconds to remind myself what it feels like so that I can embody the feeling of surrender in present situations. Its definitely a life lesson for me I have to let go and trust God/universe but it's not always easy i think bc I been living more in flesh then spirit after trauma. As a child I was healthily surrendered before trauma. but age compounds things for sure.

Gabor Mate, is a wise voice out there, not interested in "idolisation". He is great to listen to to take back one own healthy strengths, and knowing where our weakness lies, never condemning, and creating new thoughts, upon old stiff ones. 8.10 min in-->, 9.17-->, 10.55-->, 13 min inforward "alla vill till himlen" control-power-issues, and neverever, cooperative solutions?.... 18.20---> Beautiful, reminder, to listen to. What he says after-around, 21.59---> and 33min in forward, is what this whole conversation, is worth listening to!!! (and, its interesting when newagy ones has to pour in positivity, to hold on to some comfortings, all the time ;) ) ....instead of start thinking-listening, wide and deep. Thank You Gabor, for your Sound Healthy Voice

This was an invaluable interview that resonated beautifully and shook free several insights that bubbled up. How wonderful it would be if other spiritual teachers were so transparent and honest to share so intimately and fearlessly. I sensed today that perhaps moments of surrender are inextricably intertwined with flashes of insight. How could we have deep insights if the ego didn't bow to momentarily surrender and release its position of power, allow the insight to reach the conscious mind and be acknowledged. I will save this interview so that I can listen to it again. I've just recently discovered Gabor Mate and am appreciating the many videos I am able to find. The world certainly needs all of them now.

I live in South Africa,🇿🇦 My mother was a child during WW2 and living in England. She suffered with anxiety her whole life and feared the future. This fear was passed onto me. I believe that I unconsciously passed this same fear of the future onto my children. When the virus first rocked our world in 2020, it was a real revelation to my one daughter that her fear was acknowledged and so perhaps it will be imbedded in our fibre. I believe politicians in our country, capitalised on this fragile population and economy (as in other countries), to further their careers. The corruption and theft by politicians from their people has been totally traumatic. I’ve lost faith in humanity.

Gabor meg fogok hallni egyedul. Konyorgok hogy segitcs. I grew up in poverty and abuse, a first generation Hungarian American. My life started in trauma. My grandfather, I never met was in a concentration camp. My great uncle died in one. I grew up behind closed doors, brought myself through college to become an occupational therapist. 5 years later, at age 30, I was left for dead in the middle of summatta for days with a rare hypoxic-iscemic brain injury at age 30. Took me 6 months to get back to Portland, OR. I was thrown to the streets like a dog for lack of insurance. I became crippled with dystonia and Parkinson at age 31. I just turned 40. I'm going blind and more crippled and bedridden since the shutdowns. I have. Fought alone! I can't do this. I'm in a dark, prison apartment. We are entering the great reset, which I have obsessively researched. The world. Bank, IMF,and the elites are going to further subjecte minorities via the orwelian social impact bonds. Oregon is already deeply invested. This is too much for this post and my joints are locking, I haven't slept, and I can't sleep. I need connection with. People! - Emese (I was already in social isolation in my dark, prison apartment since I went suddenly legally blind from a corneal disease in 2017, and was assaultrd, assaulted,. I fought so hard to beat my prognosis at the gym but my left Achilles shortened 6 inches from the dystonia when I was homeless! My reconstruction surgery is falling apart and my right ankle and hip is being pulled. I fought through more than I should 10 years! I am asking. Kerem!

I've never seen Gabor's partner, Rae sp?. What a great contribution. I loved the little house on the prairie and the wind blowing through the doors. That is much more relatable to me than the old, well-known metaphor of the tree. Also, how great that she mentioned that it's Gabor's mind that forgets he is good at surrender. Wow, that was so profound for me. When I look back, I can see I've actually done quite well with it. But in times of crisis, when it's time to surrender, my mind says, "You're not good at surrender," which makes it harder to do so.

To say that sexual assault and child being abused is not trauma in itself is a stretch and yes of course it depends how we experience it and the support we receive around it. Otherwise I appreciate the sincerity of the talk and what is being addressed.
