G5n: Introduction

Ғылым және технология

When we designed the G5n, our goal was to create the finest collection of guitar effects and amp emulators ever offered in one innovative package. In this video we will go over the ins and outs and basic operation of the Zoom G5n.
For more information, please visit zoom-na.com
--
The G5n has a mono ¼” input and stereo ¼” outputs. It has an additional ⅛” headphone output.
The AUX input can be used to play along with recorded music; this audio will not be æffected by the G5n.
The DC IN powers the G5n with the Zoom AD-16 9 volt power adapter.
The USB jack can be used to connect to your computer as an audio interface and to save or load new patches to Zoom Guitar Lab software
You can connect the Zoom FP-02M expression pedal with a TRS cable to the Control In.
The TAP TEMPO function is used to set the time or rate of certain effects using your foot.
Pressing the TUNER footswitch once will activate the tuner. Tuner settings can be found in the MENU.
There are two modes to the G5n: MEMORY mode and STOMP mode. When using MEMORY mode, you can switch between different patches. A patch contains a chain of effects. Within a patch, effects can be turned on and off. The G5n comes loaded with preset patches and users can create their own custom patches as well. There are also additional patches available for download from our website.
When using STOMP mode, you can turn on/off individual effects in patches. Press the MEMORY/STOMP button to toggle between modes.
When using MEMORY mode, the SCROLL buttons will switch between banks of patches that will appear on the G5n displays. This will change which effects are available via footswitch.
When using STOMP mode, the SCROLL buttons will change which individual effects are available via footswitch.
Use the MENU button to access general settings, and the control knob to navigate through options; press the control knob to make a selection. Options here include adding or deleting effects, rearranging the patch chain, or renaming and storing the patch.
To add effects to your patch, press the MENU button and use the control knob to select ADD. If 9 effects are already in use, then ADD will not be available. Press the control knob to enter the add screen and choose where in the chain the effect will be added, then use the Type up and down buttons to choose the effect type. Most effects will be assigned to the footswitches while pedal effects will be assigned to the foot pedal. If you have more than one pedal effect selected, you can assign the second one to an external pedal. Go into the setup menu, and turn the External Pedal on. You will now see an EXT on your second pedal effect.
To re-order your effects chain, press menu, use control knob go to CHAIN and select it. Turn the control knob to highlight the effect you wish to move and press the control knob to select it.
To exit the add effect screen, use the control knob to scroll to exit and select. This will take you back to the home screen.
To remove an effect from your patch, go to MENU then select DELETE.
To edit the name of a patch, go to MENU then select PATCH. Scroll and select to change letters and rename the patch.
To save the patch, go to MENU then select SAVE. You can either overwrite the current patch, overwrite another existing patch, or save to an empty patch slot.
To adjust effect parameters on the G5n, use the knobs below the display for each footswitch. Each category of effects will have different adjustable parameters.

I'm really glad I decided to go with the zoom G5n .. this tones are really good and you can feel it come out when you play a rhythm or a solo.. I don't know how it compares to a line 6 or headrush pedal but goin through their demos and videos it sounds really close ..... A few amps and cabs but they all sound so damn good .. hope u guys at zoom r working on a new one and come out with it next year cos that would be awesome and I would buy it .. some sort of talk box feature .. changing patches when using the looper and drum machine .. maybe a mic input .. so u don't have to connect it to a mixer with a few effects for it .. otherwise the unit kicks ass .. big time ..

I think that a new firmware update can solve the looper problem (or looper request) and add a IR loader so you can load a few impulses. This unit may be better. The community would not mind updating the manuals if they provide a better product.

I purchased a G5n and i like the tonality of the processor it really have some powerful patches and some interesting clean tones too... And the only drawback I've flet on this device is that i doesn't have a i dependent looper section, loops are also added to the patch session.. Even though it's not that big issue but zoom would have to provide a separate independent menu for loppers... Otherwise its worthy for money... I'am a satisfied user.

Hi, since I think there is no "Amp" "Cab" & "Mic" general "Off" and "On", but only a patch - by - patch nerve consuming "Off" and "On" option for them, is there a hope to see such a "General Off/On" option for "Amp" "Cab" & "Mic" in the next firmware? This would be soooo useful when using a Pc and then a true amplifier.... Hope really You could do this for Your faithful customers.... Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am sad and confused. I bought a second hand but brand new looking Zoom G5n, on the box V2 sticker, 3.0 firmware. The trouble is about the Octaver effect. I met a patch, probably the first one with it in the chain, and the octaver changes the pitch several times in a little seconds. It behaves like a lfo pitcher. Is this a common trouble? Can it be fixed somehow? Can Zoom release a fix for this? Please reply, I am in panic since love the unit. Thanks!

Zoom should have made the Looper a Global parameter, but they have made it local to patches, this is the biggest drawback of this unit, you cannot change patches while on a loop. Also Zoom states 9 effects can be used at once, however if you use Amp Simulators and Reverbs it runs out of processing power anywhere between 5-6 effects after which it states "Overload". Zoom should have added a little more processing power to this unit. Apart from these shortcomings which is quite annoying the unit is quite good.

Hello ZoomSoundLab I am using the zoom g5n and I connect it to my pc using the usb, however i couldn't get a good sound. When I use the effects, it sounds like a distorted can. Is there any settings that I need to adjust? I've adjusted the audio recording level to the lowest value but the sound is still the same.

Just got one for home use use. I like it overall but: * The looper control is clumsy and there is no external pedal control possible. Very inconvenient to scroll through the stomp boxes to find the looper each time. * The power supply cord is short, flimsy and unshielded. * EQs occupy 2 stomp box places so with the looper you have 1 stomp box remaining.

G5n is much better than G5. I have previously used g5. After that i switched to line 6 pod hd500x and now i am using g5n. It beats the 500x and g5 with big margin. The amp modelling is much better on g5n from g5. The build quality is much better more dsp power i believe.

This waste of space machine must be the worst shitty piece of crap multi-effect processor i have ever had. i regret the NO i f'n curse the day i decided to buy this shit. Hundred or thousands of options to create your own sound, but all of them sound like shit and something no one in their right mind would ever use. I have ONE f'n sound i have used with this and even that is starting to piss me off. Other one i found has an annoying little crunch in it (it sounds like its my headphones are cracking) so i cant use that. This pisses me off. I should have just bought the Empress heavy. Which i will! Damn this shit. HORRIBLE SHITE. Or maybe i am just a dumdum who cant use this properly. Go ahead, buy this and find out!!
