This watch definitely needs a solar version with an updated chipset!

Honestly, the battery life on this watch is beyond dismal. 1.5 days is it for using any of the functions. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the gym, tried to use the stopwatch to time rest periods and It's unavailable. For $600 this is ridiculous. I also have the Fenix 5X and the battery last forever. WTF!!! There needs to be a free battery upgrade and replacement from Casio. Who wants to use "standby mode"??? You buy the watch to use the functions.

As soon as I saw WearOS, one word came to mind, “Run!”

@@GiShockGo Hi! From the battery life perspective, it is not an improvement:) Competitors offers much more at this price. I`m a gbdh1000 user and I`m happy with it's simplicity and the battery life.

that's why I got the fenix 6x pro solar.... great battery life

@@wrightstuf73sw Nie wygłupiaj się. W 6x solar zasilanie solarne jest BARDZO MIZERNE. Nie kłam że w trybie GPS zegarek działa przez 65dni. Znam ten model, pasek ładowania jest tak cienki, że tylko w mocnym słońcu jest w stanie podładować cokolwiek. Dopiero wersja 7 zmieniła to na lepsze.

Battery life is short... Will Not argue on that. But manageable, the watch drains the battery fast while being setup, I have some ideas why but the point is once you found your "sweet spot" in the setup, the watch is usable. Not the best and very expensive... But your only option for a while if you want a wearOS GShock...a very specific kind of product. Very bad from Casio to select that old CPU

Can you install a de-googled OS, as with LineageOS on smart phones? You didn't mention it takes three hours to charge. Is the battery life longer in black and white mode and/or non-GPS and/or non-heart monitor modes? What are it's EMF emissions like in airplane mode? Does it report your position in airplane mode?

I would just use it as a normal watch this is perfect for people that love G-Shock. I don't even care I'll spend $600 just to flick my wrist and have that old school look glowing in my face. Just turn off the heart monitor disable the GPS all tracking and you should have a good long battery life

Why though? If you don't use the features of this watch, you can have great "old school" looking g-shock for much cheaper (eg. I love my GW9400 which is half the price and it's got Tough Solar as a bonus).

@@bobrong9645 what we want is an all rounder. I dont want my watch to be a smartwatch when i am away for vaccination. But having an option to turn it into one sounds and this watch with duel display is capable of it but that fuctionality is not present here. Then again if there is one watch to rule them all then why not.

You know this watch could have been a lot better. They could have taken advantage of the duel screen with the fuctionality to turn off/on the smart watch functions until its required. It could have worked as a normal watch with basic fuctions like alarm stopwatch etc. Now that would be something i am willing to pay for. Most of the smartwatch gshocks i have seen are missing one thing or other. Yes its a robust design but.. The cost cannot be justified with the fuctionality which we are getting.

It's been 6 months. Still I need to inform interested people... Mine just broke the day before yesterday. It's middle button (which runs everything) and now it's not functioning. Opened it up and saw that two solder points of the micro switch (on the outer side of the circuit) are broken. When I push it on the circuit and try, the button works. Maybe it was a cold solder or before I accidently hit my arm (sometimes the watch) to doors / door knobs from time to time. I'll try the electronics techs of the company I work for when I get the change. Hope I can close it up without missing some springs and brackets. I also would like to warn, it is not a tough solar. When I noticed I needed to charge often when the home office days started, I did a comparison test with the battery saving models of my solars, 3 g-shocks, 1 edifice and 1 pro-trek... When all the watches were asleep increasing the light intensity of the artificial light, the GBD-H1000 was the last to wake up and it needed really really bright.. It even disappointed at solar charging test when compared to some even lower level eddifices that charged to full in 2 days under indoor lighting conditions and the GBD-H1000 didn't move up one level. And all functions were disabled for two days. I'm throughly disappointed with these models afterall... Wish the rangeman did have a silent feature than it'd be my daily (even with the huge size).... Don't know what Casio is trying. Maybe trying to kill itself like Sony did. Darn me for being a Japaneese addict :P

Two things that are a red flag for this watch for me in any case:The charging port and Wear OS.Other than that,its one hell of a watch.

For its intended function the battery life is abismal at best... if casio comes out with a gshock with coros level battery with garmin functions and features then that would probably catapult then to the top of sports watches...

Same as the older protrek version

If you are comparing it with any Apple or Samsung watch then it has a good battery but if you are comparing it with other G shock then it's battery is very poor...

Full Battery lasting for only 5/6 hours So if you need it to keep for long. Bring mobile battery charger for sure It is ludicrous better capacity

this type of watch should have days of battery life because it is for adventurous people...hiking, triathlon, kayaking, exercise, trail running and biking, camping 🏕 etc...how are you going to charge the watch if you are on a camping adventure trip?!

Bigger battery and solar charging would help. Look what kind of charge Garmin enduro is able to get compared to this. I love the design but there is more work to be done. Garmin set the bar high

I bought it and like you I didn’t find anything wrong or insufficient with the battery. I used it regularly for my mountain biking trail which usually takes up to 5 hrs. I can charge the watch while I am working on my laptop. It’s been a great watch to keep track all my heart rate while performing physical activity. Works for me.

this is very annoying battery life.. worse than apple watch i believe.. or similar. if you are charging a smartwatch daily thats no good. I'm very active almost every day doing exercise runnings. and always have Garmin Fenix watches. now using 6 pro. without solar power and it last long 6-7 days minimum for the man like me who runs 10k daily. as I'm g-shock fan(have a few solar powered models) this G-shock GSW i would never consider it to buy. we need to better upgraded version which will added solar support i believe. its previous model GBH 1000 which doesnt have Google Wear OS. seems better than this.. i think this issue might be related to software Google OS. as far as i know many Google smartwatch battery life is no good. compared to other smartwatches in market. G-shocks watches are excellent robust and durable. always looks attractive and fashion watches. however, this battery life is sucks. hope to see newer , better version of this watch soon. I think this watch is not worth it of money they're selling for , just because of this everyday freaking charging... I like G shock but this watch it's down for me

excuse me: I this is watch is provide by solar cells , so i belive your model has a problen : is not possible that u wear it outside and after 12 H it was at almost 50%

The battery life is horrible. I lose almost 10% in the first hour.

Yeah wear os battery hog. Whereas t-rex pro lasts ages. Currently use a Casio gbd h1000. Nice watch but notifications awful
