Soyeon is such a sweetheart. When I first became a Neverland, I expected her to be a badass, which she absolutely is! But she’s also incredibly soft-hearted. here are some fun facts about her!!!❤ She writes her lyrics with the members in mind, considering their pronunciations, and she uplifted Yuqi when she was extremely self-conscious about her deep voice and encouraged her to have confidence in her voice She said in an interview about Oh My God and why she specifically wrote it with she/her pronouns, "I didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition," she says. "So it's open to anything. I believe that all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected. That's why I don't want to limit 'she' to something specific." She titled Nxde so that when people in korea search for cp the only thing that comes up is gidles music video. (gidle in korean translates to “children” so when people try to search “children nude” which is a very common search in korea the only thing that comes up is gidles nxde music video. She has given me a warm support and has given me a lot of support for my future as a K-pop artist. If I could say a word to my little sister Soyeon as an older brother oppa through this interview, I would like to say, “As your older brother, I will always try to be a good, fellow singer that you are not ashamed of.” She even uses her own money to pay for extra time for encores so that they can spend more time with fans. She’s genuinely such an amazing person.

Fun fact Soyeon predicted her future in that 1 v 1 rap. This was before idle was even a concept lol

Also it’s sad how Soyeon herself believed that she was “ugly” like it’s so sad😭 kneits really came for her looks so bad I hope she knows how amazing and beautiful she is :(((

so a few things :) the shows name is probably just a really dumb translation, in Korean they have at least 3 different words that would mean pretty, one of them is yeoppeoda (or something like that i suck at romanization), it roughly means a very feminine or princess/prince type pretty, and is not in any way gender specific, but if you think idol it is most likely yeoppeoda, and yes even boygroups, and rappers from idol groups, so the shows name is meant to be non yeoppeoda rapstar (as a rapper can't be princess like pretty when they spit bars, that is the idea anyways). But gotta admit I was also a bit offended when i stumbled upon it on my Soyeon journey way back :) also funny thing about the first diss battle, Soyeon starts of in a polite way (how she ends her verbs, it is a very Korean thing, but maybe mostly as she refers to her opponent as "Unnie" meaning older sister or someone who is older and a girl (if you are a girl) and that you respect), but switches up an starts talking in a nonformal way, it goes (paraphrasing from the translation) "The First time Unnie came here, I didn't know you to well, but now that I do, I will now tell you how it is. This skill at rap determines respect unnie, so i'll talk to you Yoomin" dropping the honorific and even her stage name, simply saying that in this arena it is all about skill to get respect and she deserves none. Soyeon garnered the nickname "Scary Unnie" after that, even though she was the youngest. btw having enjoyed both SMTM and unpretty rapstar, the female rapper just take diss battles to another level, like they all stab you with a knife lyrically, but the females they just know how to twist it, sad that they don't get more respect for their ability to really diss hard

Oh really? Thank you for clearing that up, because otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever lol but I guess I could see that being a princess type and being a rapper could be considered contradictory (not always though) And yeah that transition from formal language to informal language is such a swaggy but also super clever bar. All I know is I don’t want Soyeon mad at me for anything 🤣

Yes the loveless isn't a pre-debut song. Maybe she wrote during her pre-debut days.. but she gifted that song to fans on 500th day of their debut as far as I remember!

Yeah if you think MNET was playing dirty in Kingdom/Queendom, they use to be much worse. Grace is from Long Island originally and runs her own KZread channel now. She talks about her experiences on Unpretty Rapstar (and experiences in the industry overall) as well as invites other Korean American guests on her channel to talk about their experiences in the Korean music industry as well. She mentioned how they would shoot for super long periods of time with little rest, and would keep all the contestants separate from each other so they couldn't get to know each other and become friends behind the scenes. MNET wanted them to dislike each other as much as possible and also gave them very little prep time to prepare new songs for the competition. The sneak edits to make everything seem more dramatic were also worse then too. The only redemption MNET got was when they did the show Good Girl in 2020 which was like Unpretty Rapstar's spiritual successor. That show had them competing with each other for some stages but also forming teams to go against other teams brought from outside the show and was way more wholesome. I honestly rate Good Girl above the Queendom/Kingdom series which is crazy because those shows really are fantastic in their own right.

Imagine: years from now when Soyeon is a mother, and her child makes the huge mistake of mouthing off to her. Momma Soyeon flips the dis rap switch, and lets it fly..... years of therapy will be needed by her child afterwards. YEARS of therapy. LOL

in unpretty rapstar a girl flashed her boobs to the audience, and you could literally hear soyeons screams from behind the stage😭😭😭 she then said in an interview right after “this is the best day of my life” the only reason she didn’t win unpretty rapstar is because they had a sexual topic for a rap, and she was underage. so she wrote her 18+ rap but they couldn’t ethically let her win as a minor so she was voted off😢
