FZJ80 Land Cruiser Blue Fan Clutch Mod

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

DIY on how to put a heavier weight silicone in your worn out blue hub fan clutch on 80 series Toyota Land Cruisers. Super easy job and may help with A/C and cooling issues.
You can buy several different weights of oil here. amzn.to/2MOT9Hy
Mine after six years or so is doing great!

with the 2 top bolts of the fan shroud loose, you can push the top of it back towards the engine (after first getting the fan released from the sindle) and it'll slide out with so much room (at least on the 1hz version, but this looks like it has the same amount of room)

I used a template that some guy made. It is for Adobe After Effects...he let you have and use the template as long as you like his FB page.. I just added the link to the template in the video description.

A couple things others might find useful. If the nuts are a bit stuck, use a long screwdriver or pry bar between 2 of the other studs to old the fan in place. And on mine, I could not get the fan out between the shroud and the engine. It was much easier to push the fan shroud away from the radiator and get the fan out between the shroud and the radiator.

Thanks for doing the video. Doing this mod tonight! A/C works great if I'm going 65 down the road. Sitting in the drive through I'm sweating my balls off. Getting the fan moving a little faster should help. Gotta have good A/C in AZ!

Usualy the nylon peg near the to return holes that scrapes and forces the oil bk into the front plate if your is same as mine and I cleaned mine with maff cleaner and to be honest best to replace there not expensive 60 dollors and there not supose to be tight you should be able to grab it in tick over wen first started there only tight for 10 seconds then there barely supose to move till rad reaches your specified temp 180 to 195 f try all so cleaning radiator and ac rad cooling fins

Hey, I used a lot of 7500 cst silicone oil in my viscous clutch and I think it´s now running all the time but is safe because I don't know if the sensor is working at correct temperatures. I think I lost some cv dispending engine energy with this fan. What do you think? Thanks

+Raoni Bradacz Borges Hmmmm, I am not sure. I live in a very hot climate so I used a much heavier weight silicone.

Whats the mod? Its just a basic oil change. Resistance without heat is no good. Youre engine will sound like a semi and youll burn more gas.

put the wrench on the nut and hit the end with a hammer to break the nut free. If you are just pushing/pulling it will turn the fan hub.

Still happy with this mod? I'm going to do this in my 1997 FZJ80, reading on MUD I'm seeing guys use 38-60ml of 15k-30k act fluid. Any recommendations?
