I honestly think Megamix would've looked better if the stages and props also used the toon shader along with maybe some color corrections effects to give it its own unique aesthetic?

they did in the beta for megamix but it looked awful

I don't understand why they felt like they had to add a toonshader onto the beautiful models used in ft. It's not that the shader looks bad, it's just that it really doesn't add anything to the models - if anything it takes away from how amazing they look by washing out the models or making them look almost greasy sometimes.

It’s to make it compatible for switch without blowing it up, Senbonzakura F Edition literally kills the switch already

I know i'm late but just gonna say i don't know why most people don't like the toon shader. I like both versions but i haven’t played future tone or any of the previous project diva games, so i can't speak for myself in terms of experiencing the different shader but meg mix will be my first time playing PD game however i have payed the mega mix demo and will be getting the full version when it comes out in English. Personally i think both versions look great!

The reason people don't like toon is that toon shader blurs the model when it's far away from the camera and they look too bright in dark places, ruining the atmosphere. There is no detail in the models and their nose and mouth disappear when the model is directly facing the camera. It's cool if you like it tho it's a different style after all

That’s how they make use of the switches lower graphical capabilities. If megamix 39 looked the same as future tone there would be no point of changing the name and the game would probably run at lower frames.

Nah, its just that its so damn bright that you cant see the detail thats there, which is a shame, cause without it, it looks like the models from Future Tone

Megamix looks Beatiful but my personal favorite it's F2nd

I am personally fine with the toon shader they used in megamix, however I feel like they could have just ported future tone over with no changes- but idk

It's kinda of weird, because when I was playing Mega Mix on my own, the graphics looked alot different compared to how it looks in the video. Like, this whole "greasy" thing people are talking about with toon shader isn't really as "terrible" when I play on my own. I actually started playing Rolling Girl on Mega Mix to see the graphics compared to them in this video and they looked WAY different. Idk, maybe it's just my eyesight XD

You probably compared it after the update some,one said where there was an update where they kind of made her glowing less and basically decreased the toon shader

Honestly, I love the megamix style.. My only complaint is that their hair looks like they dipped it in oil..

I Have megamix and it's great, in my opinion, I like both, future tone haves a lot of songs and megamix too, but I still like both because they are the same game I SPEAK SPANISH SO SRY IF MY ENGLISH IS BAD..

I honestly love all of the graphics! I don't like DT graphics at all, they're...weird. but i think all graphics haves their own special detail. F, F2nd and X, oh my god, perfect. I love the realistic touch of Future Tone, sometimes it seems off bc of the models but that's fine, and i truly love the colors of megamix, the saturation and the life on the models really makes me happy, they aren't like DT, it's a mix between Arcade models and F2nd/X colors ans brightness.

Unpopular opinion: I prefer the Mega Mix shader... Something about the super dark shadows and the bloopy nose and realistic skin texture looks very strange and uncanny valley on a very anime/cartoonish figure. I love the cartoon-y Mega Mix shader. I'll probably still get both games, but Future Tone wasn't my priority because I just dislike how shadowy the forms are. The clothes look beautiful in Future Tone, tho. There's just something off about the faces in that shadowy shader, though, which is why I like Mega Mix. I think there needs to be a middle ground between both shaders. One is too bright for some fans, and the other one is too dark for some fans. It would be really cool if there was an option to customize the shaders or something.

It's also the lighting issue because in F2nd they improved the lighting and world is mine looks better if you port it from f2nd to future tone.

I dont think its bad that they didnt add shaders i think its like a cool new stile and the game runs better without them

Pretty much from what I'm gathering is that no one likes toon shader because of how FT handled it. Correct? In MM/39s it looks like it had more work put into it for it to look better but in. FT it just kinda takes away the normal-maps (the detailed texture) but keeps the dynamic lighting (sorry if my terms are incorrect, I know a thing or two but not too much)

If anyone is wondering, by taking away the normal-maps I mean Keeping the flat color texture but taking away the texture that gives the models the "realistic" folds and creases on the clothing (just an example)
