Fusion Pioneers Jack Astbury - Plasma physics to globally deployable energy

Ғылым және технология

How will we capture the energy from fusion? Our #fusionpioneer Jack Astbury explains the technology we’re developing to take #fusion from #plasmaphysics to a globally deployable energy source.
Jack is our Fusion Technology Manager and describes in the video how we’ll capture the energy from the deuterium-tritium fusion reaction. We do this by surrounding the plasma in a ‘breeding blanket’ that will convert the kinetic energy of neutrons into usable thermal energy, as well as ‘breeding’ the tritium we use as a fuel.
"Everything we do at Tokamak Energy is geared towards commercial energy," says Jack.

Any chance of a deep dive into the liquid lithium blanket concept(s) ?

I have long believed compact efficient tokomaks are the tech which are going to produce the quickest path to sustainable energy generation. It's a matter of who gets there first. No magnetic confinement methods are going to be easy, but if narrowing down to the simplest method is the practical approach, tokomak is the way.

1986 we were told we would have fusion power. Over 80 years of research and development and NO JOY. Is the theory of how the sun works real?

The real question is can we duplicate the process used by the Sun with 333,000 times the mass of the Earth and 1,300,000 times the size of the Earth can be duplicated in a high energy chamber in a building. Tokomak Energy has produced pulses of 100 Million Degrees C in tests which is near the sustainable fusion temperature. Fusion bombs which have been around 70+ years is evidence we have some understanding of the Sun's processes but duplicating that on Earth is not easy (though possible) without doing it with an explosion. One of the MANY benefits of magnetic confinement fusion is it has to be controlled down to nearly immeasurable fine parameters. When that control is lost, the candle goes out and Fusion just quits.

@@paulvarn4712 Despite the many millions of dollars spent by the U.S. between 1952 and 1992 to produce a pure fusion weapon, no measurable success was ever achieved.

Fusion is a scam, only job security for a bunch of nerds😂
