Not gonna lie I saw a video on youtube about furries saving a woman who was getting assaulted and mugged years ago and all of the comments, even newer ones, said 'I would have rather died/been mugged than be saved by some furries' or 'if I was her I would have asked the mugger to save me' and I just even if some of them are joke comments, personally thats a bit too far, this woman was literally dying and people at a convention stepped in to help her and all people can say about it is 'ew they were furries? Lol sorry you should have gotten mugged' Like? I just don't understand why people hate furries that much all they do is dress up as animals and vibe, its not the fandoms fault the zoosadists get the most attention when they're found out, theres zoosadists that aren't furries and almost all furries aren't zoosadists you can look up 'furries save woman' or something on youtube and it might pop up but it was in my recommended EDIT: I looked up the video, its still up but the comments have slowly gotten more positive over time which I'm thankful for, I never checked it again after I clicked off the video after reading the comments and going 'wtf' lol Edit: KdogJackson is a prime example of this as you can see, they take time out of their sad sad day to comment hate on a video about furry hate on a _furries_ youtube channel. They've commented 20+ times thus far on almost all the comments, with the same bland excuses all furry haters give and keep trying to argue. Ignore them. Attention is what they want, obviously. I'd feel bad, but I really don't.

Exactly, like why would you complain about someone for who they are, like you don't complain to you friend for who they are so why others. They didn't do anything to you. I realized I'm a furry a few days ago and I feel it's actually changed me as I'm doing art again, but don't hate on people for who they are. And for the record I'm 16, never knew about the fandom too much over the years and never heard anything bad. But honestly, people at just so one sided opinionated.

As a former anti-furry, I can admit I've seen just about every insult beta said, along side a bunch of "anti-furry propaganda" videos. Tbh, I'm glad I quit being an anti-fur. As hard as it is for anti-furries to believe, most furries are actually cool and nice people. But for me, seeing the doxxing an 11 year old on discord and seeing furry servers have gore spammed in them was enough for me to quit. As hard as it is for anti-furries to believe, I still have morals. Thank you Beta for your awesome videos, and thank you for reading.

So, I'm a very recent member of the community. We're talking like weeks new. As someone who used to be one of the many who were rather put off by furries, I can say it has certainly gotten better. Putting all my identity crisis "my whole world is being flipped upside down as I learn more about myself" stuff aside, I'm learning about just how nice and normal the furry fandom actually is. It genuinely shocked me how many different types of people there are and how widespread the fandom actually is. Like the amount of variability was not what I was expecting at all. I met tons people who would never strike me as furries if I hadn't met them in furry contexts. And I think this is what is contributing to the decreased amount of furry hate that I too have noticed since 2015 and such. The fandom is becoming more widespread. And I think this contributes to multiple things. Not only does the fandom have larger numbers, but it also has a larger variety of personalities. And I think this makes it harder to make blanket statements about furries, especially blanket statements that insinuate hate. Because before, it was super easy to be like: wow, look at these cringe weirdoes dress up in suits who probably live in their parents basement. Now people are seeing that that doesn't represent the entire community and making it harder to again, perpetuate stereotypes.

I know that, I know there's a ton of things I don't know about that I think I do and I don't take the negative stuff as all fact, like I may have been researching about the furry fandom, I know there's been some bad occurrences, but all the positive stuff I see, the art, the way loads of people have similar interests to myself. If I'm honest I wish I found it sooner from how much of an outcast I've been over the period known as my 16 year old life so far.

Yeah, so original there. I know who my family is and I don’t quite know where I sit on the furry community yet. I mean, I like anthropomorphic characters, but I don’t think fur suits are my thing. Actually, it rather seems an unsettling thing to me. Don’t know why. The one thing I believe is that if you find something that gives you joy in our broken messed up world, as long as it’s not illegal or morally bankrupt, then do it. If you derive happiness from it, all the power to you. My friends I game with and have known for years don’t hate furries, but do throw playful(?) insults at me because I like antho characters. But regardless, they are honestly good people and I really like hanging with them, so as far as furry hate goes, I got it a little but not really.

I used to be a hater until I actually did research then I became a furry funny huh

What works best for me in dealing with trolls- talking to them. It doesnt work for all of them, nor for all furries, but for me this works. There was a group trolling in vr a while back, pretending to be interviewing for something before bringing up dogf**ing, but answering their questions with a sense of humor of my own kind of... humanized me to them. They stopped trolling for the evening, not for good mind you but just for the night, and we had a genuine conversation. They had genuine questions, ones they never thought to ask before. We all had a nice time, even though I did have to sit patiently through a lot of terrible bs to get there. I'm from the early days of the internet, I was raised on 4chan in the early thousands and late nineties, not much shocks me. Offends me, sure, but not shocks me. Trolls are people. Weird- but people.

I agree there seems to be a decline in the average Joe internet user hating on furries, but it seems to have come with a growth of hate from within the fandom itself. The gatekeeping and the hate I've seen over trivial things within the fandom in the past few years is nuts. I swear everyday we are approaching a second coming of the Burned Furs stupidity from the early fandom.

This. A lot of people who bully are definitely insecure/abused/hate themselves etc, but because someone is a bully doesn’t make that true. Some people just like being dicks to people

I find the fandom fascinating as a psychological and sociological oddity, but yet I have several questions as to what the fandom stand for and it is against and all though its not perfect, and not by a long shot but that does not mean that there's room for improvement. The furry fandom can be so much more then the labeled stereo types.

This topic is something that will never get resolved. Furries have existed for over 3 decades and I don't see it disappearing any time soon, which is great. But with the culture comes the the hate and because there's so much of it and most of the haters are referring to stereotypes instead of each individual persons' views on Furries, the hate won't stop. As the saying goes: "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

I just think for those who hate the fandom are just absolutely ignorant and stupid. They always stereotype and stigmatize us as zoophile and a fetish, but the truth is non of all of this is actually true, i think its extremely rare to have one in the fandom thats only about 00.1% of it and they just dont really understand that not all furries are zoophiles or a fetish. I think that theyre judging us because we're different, and i always i mean always see furries as human.

In my case, the early stages of me becoming a furry, I saw more brony hate since it was at the time more mainstream. It wasn’t until after the MFF and Rainfurrest stuff that I saw anything related to furries in a negative sense. And like you said, since the push for acceptance across multiple communities has been going on, it’s gotten so much better.

In general, I don't hate the furry culture, but if there's something that I must criticize, it's the overly hyped sexualization within the fandom that becomes so rampant that to even criticize how bad it had got has furries going on a witch hunt or a mob frenzy to cancel said person who criticize such matters. The furry fandom is great, but it could be better if furries just stop making excuses to allow hypersexuality being the common interaction or discussion being made, sometimes the argument fur haters speaks of that furry are addicted to sex isn't too far fetched when you considered about it on the long run with how furries behaved and with what you said earlier about accountability, true but does that mean people should stop doing what they should or could to prevent any unwanted fights within and out of the community? It simply boils down to decency, and trust me when I say being normal ain't about being racist or homophobic but to behave normally in a society within the interaction course without ever relating the topics back to hypersexualized topics. In summary furries needs to tone down the sex addiction drive cuz nobody ain't wanna see the stuff porn comes up with and let's be clear here, there's a thin line now being made within our society to behave normally and responsibly within a public space.

Its really a problem and i feel some people took the escapism factor of the fandom way too far. It doesn't look pretty when people outside and inside of the fandom see that, and sometimes that makes me think twice before saying that furry isnt all about sex. Point being, is that we need to tone it down and is that some things are better left untold.

so I commented on a video and it was like on a video calling the viewers a furry so I just commented like "haha I already knew that" and I got 50% of the comments were just "eww furry" but I remember someone commented "all furries should be gassed" and I was thrown off guard so I haven't really commented since plus I'm a minor so I hope its not always in the back of my head but a better thing was I got to talk to someone and they were actually really understanding after I explained what a furry is and the fandom and that was the first time someone actually thought my point and view was valid that one made me happy :)

Maybe its jealously in part too why furrys are hated? The creativity I've seen over the years with the art, fursuits and conventions ect is really something to be admired. Quite a strong community now by the looks of things. More stories maybe of charity work done of behalf of furrys should be covered by media. These self destructive asshats dont have any positive outlook on life or ways to express themselves positively. Hate groups don't get conventions.

There has been a few events where things like that has happened, but so far there have been no reported casualties, as far as I know. Though, as the furry fandom gets more respect via people not jumping to conclusions of who they are, the odds of those attacks happening decreases

My two sense on the matter, as a furry hater turned neutral, recently turned furry, a big, albeit hidden, cause of the hate could be "My friends are doing it," then something about fitting in

3:00 So, fun story; I am no longer part of the furry fandom itself, I left it a long time ago and exist as a nomad looking in on everything, but I do watch furry youtubers. One day I left a comment about protogen lore compared the the mess of lore of my character and this dude left the typical half-baked furry hate comment... Sooo instead of leaving it be, I decided to lean into my self hate because, well, honestly what they were saying had a bit of truth about my character's lore being just a mouthful. In no time at all I got them to admit they were just doing it to hate on furries, advised them on me not being a furry, and basically gave them a micro therapy session and they went from hating to seemingly indifferent.

It's perfectly possible for people to have a faith and not be/do these things, even to turn it into a positive influence. If it is not materially affecting you or other people in a negative way ("material" includes psychological effects in this case), then I don't much care for who you think is watching you from above.

There's the time where we treat woman less equal then man (im sorry for saying this). But time changes and woman's right is a thing that people realized we need. It'll take a long time for society to adjust to it, it might even took longer than our life in this planet. But i keep my fingers crossed

For as long as humans have existed on Earth there's always been some bigotry between each other. This extends to the internet only usually it's trolls and other people who are just looking to get attention or a reaction out of you. Truth be told I used to be one of these people that hated the furries for no apparent reason. But then I actually got into it and I was welcomed. And it's because of this community that I have the friends I do.

Yeah, that's definitely true for some of them. I've seen some hate comments or comments saying "I'm not a furry, but..." from like 10 months ago and now they have a furry pfp. We all know that step one is denial

I think we all just need to handle disagreeing with others better, just as humans in general. Even before the world got crazy last year, people still just treat any disagreement on the internet as a personal attack, no matter how small. I've seen people take it super personally when people disagree about whether an episode of a show was good or not, even to this day. So, that makes it all the more impressive that something as divisive as being a furry has become so much less controversial than it used to be.

When I was 8 I hated furries, then 3 years later I am one. I still am to this day and I stay away from the bad part of the fandom. There’s a bad side to every fandom, even the anti-fur fandom.
