@6pek9 altho people do sometimes go to school in fursuit, this is often times just a one time thing to "come out" as a furry to peers; No-one goes to school in 1000$ full fursuits every day, the idea that kids can even afford these is ridiculous and if they could Noone would risk being harassed just to bring it to school

The litter boxes in school bathrooms was a myth.

I used to wear a little fox tail to school in 8th grade. Hardly anybody cared, a few teachers said something about it (one even seemed to admire my individuality) a couple kids tugged it in the hallways and of course i got made fun of a bit, but apart from that i wasnt disrupting or disturbing anything. The classroom functioned just the same as it would have tail or no tail.

​@@AcshualSnotskiwell I don't do it anymore lmao I was a child back then, everyone I've ever known who did things like that as a kid knew there was a time and place for everything and that we wouldn't be able to do it in serious setting, you just obviously don't interact much with anyone who is interested in these types of things (Maybe some would say school is a serious setting but it didn't change anything about how the school was functioning and literally nobody cared bc we were only 14) Sure some people never grow up and don't know how to read a room but children sometimes wearing a tiny costume accessory is really really not that big a deal and not something worth getting violent over

i'm sure whoever started the rumor as a prank is either feeling vindicated of his lies coming to fruition like this... or is realizing the errors of his addiction to causing chaos amongst the adults who're clearly lacking ANY sense of critical thinking. and, btw, being able to pull a prank ALSO requires critical thinking, because at LEAST professional pranksters knows which recipients can take it while others cannot.

Dogpatch Press has covered this hot topic in a couple of articles if you're interested, but the whole "hurr hurr hurr furries use litter boxes" schtick is a joke/urban legend going back to the late 90s/early 2000s. I reckon the Right heard that urban legend and decided to weaponize it to attack trans people.

The litterbox is a unverified story and the Furry fandom is explicitly a fandom around Anthropomorphic animals (Turning animals in to humans, not the other way around) going all the way back to the 90's, not that I think this will actually change anything but it's just soo absurd all around.

no one seems to be making a fuss over the fact that there are buckets full of kitty litter being used during ACTIVE SHOOTER drills, since kids' bladders are still growing in size and if it WERE an actual emergency, that kid would be bloody tissue paper while going to the bathroom... goes to show how fvvked up their priorities are when it comes to protecting kids from actual threats :/

If you go to school in a fursuit you already messed up. It would be like wearing a fursuit at work it's not the time and place for it. 100% you wear a fursuit to school you will be bullied by nearly the entire school. Now a days you might just get insulted yet when I was in school if you would of wore a fursuit you are gonna get beat up and by the end of the day you aren't going to be able to be wearing that fursuit ever again.

well, im a furry, but even i think that when you go to school in a fursuit... you REALLY need to get your priorities straight and get a grip on reality. school has rules and theres an expectation of common sense. going to school in a costume when its not some special day that the school has officially stated to participate in, go to school in your normal clothes. how tf can you even last an entire schoolday in it? it becomes VERY warm inside those suits, you would risk overheating and worse medical problems if you wear it the entire school day...

The standard reactionary argument more-or-less goes that public schools are woke cesspools that are groooooooooming children to be LGBTQ, and that this has naturally resulted in people going literally hog wild and identifying as animals. Sprinkle in some old urban legends, memes, and half-knowledge about furries and otherkin, and bam, you've got yourself a Furry Worry on par with the Satanic Panic! I'd wager that most of the people who are perpetuating these myths recognize deep in their hearts they aren't true, but they "feel" true, and that's enough.

I've been a furry since high school, but I personally never felt the need nor desire to "express" it by wearing any costuming or whatever. I just treated it as a hobby I enjoy, and pretty much still do. The stance you have is pretty much how it should be -- if it's not hurting people and not harassing or disturbing others, like furries dressing up in costume and walking around a public park and minding their own business and leaving others alone, then it's fine. And when I see it these days, people get excited and want to take photos with them, making it rather positive and wholesome. So yeah. It's 2024. Just have fun and chill the eff out, and life is good.

As a furry, I honestly totally agree with this guy (this youtuber, not the guy that proposed the bill) If they're not hurting you, then it's not your place to attempt to do something about it, even if it IS a bit weird. There is a lot of things going on. And I consider myself as a furry and I like have dragon horns or tail. Those are fine not distracting but going as far as saying I identify as such and dress up in a full suit is a bit distracting. And it would make other people around them uncomfortable for can't say anything about it or else get a group of people after your job and life.

So, I will say that a lot of the kids do it as a coping mechanism because of trauma, usually from home too. Yes, it's a little inappropriate, but its also school. Who gives a shit?
