    Question, I just had a new Rudd furnace installed. He reused the insulation around the top that goes to the ceiling vent system. It is probably 40 years old and a bit dusty and yucky looking. Shouldn't I get new?! I don't like it. :/

    *They forgot to tell you that those "high efficiency" furnaces with those white pipes "sticking out" the side of your house requires you to clear out any wasps' nests. First they tell you that those little screens you put on to keep insects and small **_rodents_** out of you're PVC pipes, will impede the function of your furnace and AC, but yet they sell those screens with different size "netting," especially **_for_** wasps. They also don't tell you that in the winter, the water outlet pipe has to be cleared of snow, frozen water at the entrance of the pipe, and removing icicles.* 🙄🙄🙄

    Okay, answering my own question here: the p-trap is needed to prevent combustion gases (CO) from escaping out the condensate line. In this situation, however, with a 90+ furnace, there are two condensate lines - one for the sealed combustion chamber, and one for the evaporator coil. He appears to have installed the trap on the wrong line at 4:15. He's putting it on the A-coil line instead of the combustion line. Maybe there's another one that is not shown, but in any case the trap on the coil line is unnecessary, because there is no combustion air in that section. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @theadventuresoftochaandmar2198

    @theadventuresoftochaandmar2198

    2 жыл бұрын

    4 years late to the party but if anyone else reads this they will know. The p trap on the evap “A” coil is to allow the condensate to drain away freely. Since it’s slight negative pressure air tries to go backwards through the drain line which prevents the condensation from draining away freely. The trap allows the condensate to drain away by putting a restriction to block this slight pressure differential.

    sorry to bother you guys again....I got my new furnace today. Just before the guy left he wanted to check to see if we had hot water at the bathroom and kitchen sink. The water came out of the faucet with very very little pressure. The furnace guy asked if this ever happened before I said no since it hasn't, this was something strange and new. He went back into the basement for a while and came back up and said we have to take a part of the faucet off and do something to unclog the faucet because there may be stuff inside from what they were doing with the water line or water pressure?? He had me totally lost. I asked a couple questions but he seemed bothered and in a hurry to get out of here. Is this possible that if they did something to the water in the basement when installing the furnace that it would suddenly cause the water to spritz out of the faucets and not spray out hard like it used to?? We now have hot water but it felt only warm and not hot. I'm totally lost and I don't get any of this at all. My sinks were fine prior to the new furnace.
