our tech had a similar scope and showed such an extreme crack, I don't believe, flamer is barely jumpy. Unit is shutting down so it makes sense, but I still question that he did it last , just making it seem like 'oh you gotta replace it.' Can you play back a video on those that show some other cracked exchanger? Can you actually see a long big crack? I expected they'd be small fractures, not deep crevices.

*They forgot to tell you that those "high efficiency" furnaces with those white pipes "sticking out" the side of your house requires you to clear out any wasps' nests. First they tell you that those little screens you put on to keep insects and small **_rodents_** out of you're PVC pipes, will impede the function of your furnace and AC, but yet they sell those screens with different size "netting," especially **_for_** wasps. They also don't tell you that in the winter, the water outlet pipe has to be cleared of snow, frozen water at the entrance of the pipe, and removing icicles.* 🙄🙄🙄

Are any of the things you listed really that hard to do? I mean sacrifice the 15% efficiency and get an 80% and run it to the roof in metal pipe. Guess what? Now you need to check for birds nest as well as wasps Some people will bitch about the slightest inconvenience ^^^^

You are the reason I'm happy to tear out a shitty install and make it look amazing. No gravel or leveling medium whatsoever, over-precise on measurement from wall (not necessarily wrong just a huge waste of time), a hammer is only a digging tool in a pinch, and the pad wasn't even level by the end. Go pursue your dream in culinary arts. Don't forget the lamb sauce.

Question, I just had a new Rudd furnace installed. He reused the insulation around the top that goes to the ceiling vent system. It is probably 40 years old and a bit dusty and yucky looking. Shouldn't I get new?! I don't like it. :/

how the heck are you going to service that evaporator coil. you completely blocked it. and if ever that tx valve or coil need to be replaced, you gonna have to cut both exhaust and fresh air pipes. this kind of install is what i see everyday. they get to crazy making it look pretty but never thought of how it will be service. evaporator coil can collect molds since it removes humidity. also customer dont have easy access to that filter. so forget them doin that every 6 months.

You should use RTV sealant attaching the vent PVC pipe at furnace. That way hopefully you don't have to cut vent piping to remove.
