These are pretty cool, but I wish they were their classic outfits from the original games, not MKX. I think those looks would work super well in these sort of figures.

Funko sure knows what us 80's kids want! I remember when the reaction figures came out. I totally geeked out over those. These figures just stepped that up 10 fold!!! Can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.

If only these were based on the early games; still, the chunky retro-aesthetic is super well done.

Great video and thanks for bringing up how they are an homage to 1980's 5.5" toy lines. Many younger toy collectors may have no idea why the "proportions are off."

Also, can you imagine Bravestarr and Crystar in this line?

I'm a big enough dork that I thought "Savage Worlds" meant these could be used in the tabletop RPG of the same name.

I was on the fence untill you had them in the MOTU playset!

Having grown up with MOTU 5.5", I find myself drawn back to this scale. I used to collect the 6-7" scale super articulated, but find myself drawn back to this style and scale. I guess that's why I've been buying more of the Underworld remco reissues lately. Speaking of, what ever happened to the Super7 5.5" line? It just disappeared.

They are still happening, Super7 had the factory rework the legs to make them more accurate to the vintage line, which is why they were delayed. The next two figures were just revealed at Toy Fair: Man-At-Arms and Beast Man.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who wants these slightly more than the more detailed and articulated figures

I hear ya. These are much cheaper for one thing, plus they are compatible with the old He-Man and Ninja Turtles playsets.

I recommend that FUNKO apply this style to more figures in the comments section of your "Son of Zorn" FUNKO figure review. And now I'm super excited to hear that this will be a new line. Can you imagine original trilogy Star Wars figures done in Savage style?!?! That would be an incredible blend of two giant 80's properties. I'm also thankful for the chase reveals. I want the Scorpion chase so bad it hurts! I could also definitely go for the Raiden chase. Lastly, can you imagine a Shao Kahn in this style?!?!?! CANT WAIT!!! (head explodes)

I'm really excited about this one! Thanks to Funko I have an early look at the upcoming "Savage World" 5.5 inch Mortal Kombat action figures! These awesome MK figures are done int he style of 80's "fantasy toy" action figures such as Masters of the Universe a Remco lines! And these MK figures are only the beginning for Funko's new "Savage World" line! Expect a lot of 5.5 inch offerings in 2018!

Until they're back, check your local Goodwill's. I found Raiden recently for 5 bucks. Apparently mines the chase variant.

These are awesome! I'm not a huge fan of Mortal Kombat, but these figures got my attention. If Santa is reading this, I want a Liu Kang and a Sub Zero.

I've been wanting to have some Mortal Kombat figures, but the normal stuff never suited me. So I'm going to try and hunt these down when they come out.

Hoping these show up at stores locally. I'd like to pick them up but I probably won't go WAY out of my way to find them.

Only just discovered the Savage World line. Anyone out there know if these guys suffer from the same QC issues that the DC Primal Age figures are known for?

These are awesome! Even though these are Motu style figures the detailed sculpts remind me of Tmnt figures from the classic line, I wanna get these guys for my collection, it would be cool to see Raiden with Usagi Yojimbo or Scorpion and Sub Zero with the foot clan.

They are chunky, squat and misshapen and I LOVE THEM! Wave 2 wishlist: Shao Kahn, Kung Lao, Sonya, Mileena, Jax and Cyrax.

I really hope they bring back the Galaxy Warriors with this line.

I hate investing in Mortal Kombat, they never give us a complete roster and the characters they do give us are the usual characters and never any obscure cool characters they have. Not to mention the billion paint variants of the same characters and the two characters guilty of that are Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Man give us Rain,Ermac,Reptile,Nitara.Movado,Night Wolf, so many characters and they give us always the same stuff

They must do the klassic ninjas at the very least. With just one new sculpt, they can repaint it to make Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Rain, and Chameleon.

I love these I got raiden and Liu kang I would love more fighters like Johnny cage or maybe a giant goro

The character selection is all so typical. The biggest thing that has always driven me crazy about Mortal Kombat action figure lines, is that they almost always only produce figures of the characters from the first two MK games. It doesn't matter how many new characters there are in the most recent game, or how essential they are to the plot or whatever, the corresponding action figure line will only consist of characters like Raiden, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile and such. The only difference being that the figures will feature their latest outfits. For the more hardcore MK fan such as myself, if I want figures of more obscure characters like Ashrah, Moloch, Drahmin, Kai, Havik, Fujin and such, I have to go to the custom action figure markets on places like Ebay or Craigslist. And those customs ain't cheap!

Also they never release more than 1 or 2 waves, so these figures are all you get.

this is a new line, and these figures are basically the test run to see if the line can be profitable enough to solicit more waves of different properties. you wouldnt want to dish out a new line and new figures and throw in a bunch of obscure characters mainly hardcore fans will know. I understand how you feel, but this round of figures is not the place to produce that Hornbuckle figure we all want to exist.

Im a huge Mk fan and at some points I agree but honestly I wouldn't want a mokap figure over scorpion yes they are gonna release their most recognizable characters so people can pick them up and love the set that way if they do make an unpopular character they don't lose as much money because people love the og characters and by the way the mkx line was pretty expansive given that nether realm barely does merch

i think they should have made it to where the rist does a 360

I dig bringing He-Man style figures back, but the MKX designs? Really? The Klassic MK1 and MK2 designs would fit with the He-Man style much better. If they're already going for a "nostalgic-styled" figure, why not choose the nostalgic-era game designs? It's the detail on these, it's just too much to really fit in to me. Great review Dan!
