    OK, yes! I figured that out and I went ahead and paid for 2 year subscription! I have done a lot of research on how to study better, and it seems that pictures help us learn better! But, I was wondering, how many times do I need to watch each video?? F & E is just a hard subject I feel like. I still didnt fare too well on my exam for F&E. Its hard to memorize all the s/s for each electrolyte imbalance. I watched each video way more than once. The s/s are too similar for some... Nursing school is hard :(

    Hey Danielle! It's great that you have started using the Picmonic Learning System, and as you said, Picmonic is backed by research, proving that picture mnemonics do increase memory retention! Regarding how many times to watch a Picmonic; it really depends on the individual. However, to form really strong memories, we suggest that you listen to the educational audio first, then listen to the story audio to tie everything together, then go ahead and quiz yourself using our quiz feature to make sure those memory anchors are strong! The "culture" issues make it difficult to screen those of other cultures for potential abuse. You can't just accept that marks on the body or lack of eye contact or reluctance to speak are "normal" in those of other cultures (though they may be normal under some circumstsnces). The lack of attention and care we are instructed to give to those of other cultures for the sake of "cultural tolerance" is rather horrifying actually, as spousal and child abuse are rife in all cultures..

  • @PicmonicVideoNursing

    @PicmonicVideoNursing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Heidi! You are absolutely correct. That is why it is vital to fully assess patients with both cultural differences and possibly signs of abuse in mind. “Clinicians need to be cautious about making assumptions about the likelihood of domestic violence based on ethnicity and culture.” Jacquelyn C. Campbell, PhD, RN, FAAN and Doris W. Campbell, (Cultural Competence in the Care of Abused Women pg. 458). At 41:03 Kendall states "that's where you would look for other cues". In the realm of physical abuse, these queues could be inconsistent injuries, delays in treatment, injuries in various stages of healing, symmetrical burns, STDs, tattered clothing, poor hygiene or even over-medication. Cultural competency, in conjunction with knowledge of the signs of potential abuse, is what ultimately provides the most accurate assessment and effective intervention.
