    Barbados & most Caribbean Islands worship on Sundays so business as we know it don’t happen. When there is a holiday everything closedown and people make it a beach day. As you continue living there you will love the people, the customs and it’s culture, they have a beautiful Island.

    Thanks for your content. I have visited Barbados several times and it's a beautiful country. I'm thankful my friend owns a house there. So when I visit the house is always available. That's a good thing. But the groceries are very expensive. My last visit was in September for 3 weeks. And it's good to get to know the people in the community .

    In regards to the loud music on the transport vans there are other forms of transportation such as the government run big blue buses where the playing of music is strictly prohibited

  • @BelemaRonabere

    @BelemaRonabere

    Жыл бұрын

    Very true. However, they don't run all the time and their schedule is not 100% reliable so it makes it difficult to use them exclusively. I love the electric buses too. Oh and they still use masks in the electric buses so that's one thing that makes it less interesting to use.

    @@Coco-uk9tv I never said I was going out at night first of all. I said they were not reliable in timing. I cannot just come out of my house at a random hour and expect to catch a govt bus to where I'm going in 10 minutes or less. Most buses move around the hour or even take longer in some locations. In Saint Thomas/Saint James, despite the increased number of buses sinceJan when I moved here till now, you will still wait up to 2 or 3 hours if you miss a bus. Especially 54, 57, 59. 275 and 4 are even less frequent. I never said the buses were dirty or unsafe. You can get ZRs every 5 minutes but they usually play music loud and stop very often especially during slow periods in the afternoon. I did not move to Barbados to be catching taxi like a tourist. I'm explaining life from the perspective of someone who lives here long term. Taxis are not sustainable. Next time, speak politely or I will block you.

    The worst possible point is Accident & Emergency. You're gonna still have to find a private clinic or doctor. You would pass out from your wounds first before getting seen down there.

     @user-qq5xy7iy2o What are you even saying? So..... A&E is free but you die in front of the clinic because of queue. And why are you comparing to Africa? Should Africa be the standard or should the the utmost excellent healthcare be the standard? There was an old lady (Bajan) there that said she had been standing there from 9am that morning. We arrived at 8pm. She probably did not have the means to afford a private clinic so she stayed put. At least we could, and we left. This is not a game of who's better than who. It's about serving the people no matter the country whether it is Rwanda or Montenegro. Next time you want to miss the point, find somewhere else to do it.

I would like to get a specifiy guy not taxi because it's very expensive. 2. Do you recommend stay in specify place like Airbnb? I don't have so much money to stay for just once night in Barbados to get the Cruise. Thanks a lot - Lilian I am from Brazil

    Hi airbnb have cheap accommodation and taxis from the airport to anywhere on the southcoast is cheap. They have set prices at the airport to areas you want to go. If your getting a cruise best to stay around the south coast as it will be convenient for you. All the best on your stay on the beautiful island.

    What are the requirements and life like for expats and snowbirds over 65 living in Barbados? How can the healthcare system be poor considering how developed the economy is, including the ambulance system?? Is it that way in Bridgetown?

    Yes the health care is that bad. If you don't have money or health insurance, you would die waiting for treatment. People assume that because Barbados has a relatively high standard of living, that issues like healthcare would be resolved. Sadly, this is not so.If you are an average citizen, part of the working class, you will struggle to buy food, pay rent or pay medical bills. It is an old conspiracy that the powers that be keep reproducing the myth that Barbados is so idylic. It is only the very wealthy who flourish there. This is why so many barbadians live and work in other countries.

    This woman knows what she is saying about housing...rents are really high because tourists are willing to pay top dollar for even the most ridiculous houses. People will accept US but give back change in the local currency. This is because US is very valuable so citizens hold on to it like life.
