Fun facts about New Belgrade blocks ("Blokovi")
There's so much meaning behind that one simple word, "blokovi" for us in Belgrade, Serbia. Although aware I could never fully explain that meaning in a short video narrated in English, I still tried to bring some of the history, aesthetics, and stories about these neighborhoods built in post-war Yugoslavia.

The funnest of facts - the white buildings of those 3 bloks are built with a French system used by construction company Rad. The ugliest buildings in New Belgrade are not even our architecture. Blok 70 is IMS system often called Žeželj, as are the Televizorka buildings, as is Cerak Vinogradi, and they all look absolutely nothing alike.

So cool - how do they number the blocks, apartment and zones within the whole area? Is it like 3.6.45 or something?

How blocks got their number is a mystery. But every enterance to each building has its own number in itself. And all streets between the blocks have names. So for an example, delivery, you would say you are on New Belgrade, Block 45, Enterance 170, and then an apartment number :) Hope that cleared everything up.
Ground floor garages are still being used?

For sure. From year to year there is more and more demand for parking space in all parts of Belgrade as well as in New Belgrade.

Many of these garages were converted into a workshop and many were sold, but the answer is yes.
