Perfect coaching from Argentina: playing Di Maria on the left side was an incredible bargain that worked perfectly. Once Di Maria left the field it was a complete switch and France dominated the rest of the game with the help of all our fantastic substitutes. Lionel Scaloni did what even Maradona as a Coach failed, win with Messi, the Copa & World Cup with much superior Messi & teammates around. Scaloni won the World Cup with the last remnants of Messi's genius at the age of 35 with much inferior & inexperienced youth squad. The man needs no words of plaudits. That speaks for itself what a tactical genius he has been. I won't be surprised if Scaloni wins another Copa & writes another Argentinian Football History with the return of Messi in 2026. And even win it again. 🙏🙏🙏

Deschamps's courage to adjust before the half should be applauded. I don't understand Gab's criticism at all. France were getting killed on the wings and Deschamps urgently needed to play Mbappe centrally to be able to press more. Great managers do what's best for their team. Giroud? As an argentinian, we didn't deserve to suffer so much for God's sake, Scaloni team had total control of the match for more than 70 minutes, then Scaloni though Di Maria was tired (he said it in a short interview on argentinian television), big mistake. After Angelito left the field, France started to activate with Mbappe. Kylian is a monster and to be honest was the only french player I was afraid of. Thank God we had Dibu Martinez and the rest is history. I think Argentina was the best team in the tournament. Now we have another international beef with France, like we have with Germany, England and Brasil. Me and some of my friends had predicted before the WC that Otamendi was going to cost Argentina in a big game; he proved us wrong until the final 🙆🏾‍♂️. He had plenty of time to clear that ball but instead tried to control it which led to the penalty, which completely changed the dynamics of the game. He also was the one who misjudged that long ball and allowed the French forward to be one on one with Martinez and a chance to win the cup for France. Thankfully (from an Argentinean's perspective), the keeper made a great save.

This entire World Cup I’ve always loved Scaloni’s pre game decisions and the tactics he decided to implement with his starting 11 but every single game my only issue with him was always either making poor subs, or waiting too long to make his subs. This final was the epitome of that. It was so blatantly obvious by the 70th minute that De Paul was barely trucking along and was becoming a liability and slowly allowing the momentum to shift, and France was starting to push the ball so high up they were exposed at the back buck Julian was too worn out at the point as well to have fully maximizes those opportunities. I fully believe if as alone has made those subs in the 70th minute instead of waiting until ET then this game finishes at the end of regulation with Argentina as the winner

Dembele is a RB or RWB, and i dont know why anyone would be disappointed with his performance when its the coach 's ineptitude thats to blame. Griezmann isnt a midfielder, Kounde isnt a RB, and Dembele most certainly isnt a defender, and France doesnt have a midfield, so against a well structured team like Argentina, you dont play players out of their positions. Im sorry but Deschamps is an awful coach, France despite having good players hasnt played well in any game, it relied on individual brilliance of few players, Griezmann, Mbappe and Dembele to find solution, but in the previous 3 games.... England, Morocco, Argentina, 2 of those players were made to play deeper on defense, Dembele and Griezmann, meaning they cant contribute much on attack because with Mbappe and Giroud not defending, France plays with 9 men against good attacking teams. And to compensate for that, Dembele was forced to spend much of the match at RB and so too Griezmann. And then they have sprint the entire pitch every single French attack, thats asking a lot from players that have to play again every few days.

When facing England and Morocco, France's defense actually looked so fragile. They relied on chances and individual qualities, that's why in my opinion they'd been able to create so many opportunities before the final defeat. @@anthonymc8361 From my limited perspective, Griezmann was everywhere in the Morocco game, stopping any attack before it became a threat. To an extent it happened in the England game also. England didn't look a threat unless when going up against Upamecano. Meanwhile against Argentina, all of France's midfield and defence seemed to really break down. Can't even get the simplest clearances right. Completely agreed on Mbappe's individual brilliance though! All 3 goals were literally because of Mbappe.. In the England and Morocco games, you could really see the help he got from Giroud and Griezmann. In the Argentina game, I think he really got very little support. Still a bit baffled what made the French squad "break down".

For much of his career with Argentina, messi also had the same issue. In past, argentina had to many players like messi who are brilliant in attack (aguero/higuain etc) who didn't defend. The outcome is well known. Modern attacking players need to be in Julian alvarez's profile who defend from the front. You can carry maybe one of messi/mbappe/neymar. No more. I would be happy for Messi if Paris won but the team dynamics at Paris is horrible...

FRENCH WHINING FROM JULS. He is demanding red card and yellow card for Otamendi and De Paul , lol. If any challenge by them was worthy of a red card. Then half of the french team should be on the bench because of the fouls Depaul recieved. He was kicked and sliced at times.

The ultimate perfect ending for the World Cup with 32 teams: Greatest World Cup Finals ever. Greatest World Cup ever in general. More importantly, the greatest footballer of all time. The Beautiful Game is live forever. I hope the last two Champions Leagues before 36 teams in 2024-25 produced the same drama like the World Cup.

I do agree with Gab, this Argentina squad, individually on paper, they are really not the best in their clubs. However, they played very well. I was also questioning why Scaloni did not sub some fresh legs in there to control midfield. France made 4 and Argentina just 1. Messi lost the ball, and nobody could cover his back at that point.

I think the moment Argentina sub Di Maria and brought Acuna. There they lost momentum bcz of defensive mindset. French team took advantage of it and kept attacking via their best weapon Mbappe. Hence we witnessed the best world cup final ever. Watta Game 👏

Deschamps had to stop the bleeding before the third goal came or at least try to get things turned around. But he had to make more changes to really turn it around. 5 changes all together. Unsung workhorse for France….Adrien Rouboit

Officials too should get it right about what is a handball. If you deliberately move your hand then yes but if it comes off you then no. It should not have been a penalty .
