I have a teardrop caravan and I wave like mad at everyone in a camper, motor home or caravan. The Mrs thinks I'm daft as absolutely nobody waves back but I used to always see people do it so I'm going to continue it, regardless of a reaction

When we caravanned, no waves. When we bought the motorhome other motorhomes all waved at us (we thought we had something wrong ie left a roof light open or the aerial up!), but now we wave at anything that resembles a motorhome….we have even mistakenly waved very enthusiastically at horse boxes 😜 It’s a really stunning van, the blinds are gorgeous 😍👍

Yes I was the same in the moho, including the horse boxes! It turns out I’m now part of a very friendly VW club and get waves aplenty from them 😁. The blinds are by van shades, so neat and work really well 👍

Love the videos of your actual journeys....what a great way to capture your adventures .....and also see everyone waving at you....or not!! On that point we’ve been caravanning for many years and never really experienced this....apart from perhaps odd individual encounters along the way. Perhaps it’s not the same for us as we’re in our cars....rather than the actual campervan or motorhome? Who knows!! Anyway it seems like a really nice idea to me so go for it.....start a new trend.....and enjoy!!! Looking forward to future videos

I think its a very good looking van. We really like the blue upholstery and the grey goes very well with it. You made a good choice keeping the interior light and airy. As for waving we have found nobody waves these days. Never ever gotten a wave from a motorhome and we have given a few that have gone unreturned. We find your lucky if anyone even looks at you out on a walk these days. I like going back up north a bit as more people seem to speak. I got called duck again in Mablethorpe the other day and it brought back many fond memories. I am not saying don’t bother waving, I think its a nice thing to do. just don’t expect to many back. Ot would be nice to get that tradition going again. Mind you I thought VW vanners always waved at each other. Keep on trucking 👍

Cheers Ken & Carol. I suppose there are so many units of all types out and about that if we waved at them all we’d have rsi. I have been known to wave at horse boxes in the past, much to Bri’s amusement, but in my defence the white ones can look like motorhomes. Anyway, I’ll check my membership to the VW wavers club now then! 😁

A lovely van 👍. Yeah I agree with you about steelies. Used to have a camping trailer when the kids were younger, but as yet I don't have a camper van. Though I'm thinking of getting a micro camper, so such as a berlingo converted and with a pop top. All still up in the air as yet until I decide on a layout. Must be about 10 years since I was in Waddington (spent many an evening in the Higher Buck and then up to the Moorcock in my younger years) and the village looks pretty much the same.

Yeah Waddington doesn’t change fortunately. The Moorcock closed down many years ago, think it’s houses there now. Like everywhere! The Lower Buck is still olde world though. Hope you sort yourself a camper soon. It’s the best escape! ATB, Sue.

Van looks good Sue. As most people have said, you're in the VW campervan club for waving now, although I've had the odd motorhome wave. We upgraded our 16 inch wheels to 18 inch ones. We found the ride improved as they are also wider and made the grip better. I like that grey colour (you can't really see it on the video and looks smart in real life). 👍

I’ve had 2 but who’s counting haha. I do like the look of the 18 inch wheels and yours look good. Maybe a little further down the line I’ll change them. The Ascot Grey is a strange colour, keeps changing in different lights. I love it 👍

Great question about the waving. We find that only VW drivers wave at us. We didn’t really know any different so we have started waving back. In actual fact I waved at a van whilst walking the other day and made myself look a plonker 😂 a nice thorough van tour. Love the flooring and also the depth of the sink unit looks great too 😊

Really enjoying your vlogs. I get a bit miffed when I don't get waves back . I have a Vw T4 that's 22yrs old, & I only seem to get waves back off older vw campervans, not newer ones, so if I see you on the road I will definitely give you a wave! 👋

Absolutely love your van, had to smile at the maccie's height barrier, I purchased a T4 this year and amongst its many criteria was a pop top for my 19 yo son and his friends to access maccie's drive thru! The wave thing I find that only other T4 drivers wave to me but it is such a great feeling to get a wave. Finally to say I love your steelies and have them on mine and would not have alloys fitted over my dead body (against the son's wishes!) My van is an original conversion 23.5 years old and I love the originality of it, my parents owned a brand new 1981 T25 when I was a kid and we spent many a holiday on the continent in it, I hope to be able to recreate some of those amazing childhood memories, you cannot beat a VW. We went outside our county for the first time this year in our Motorhome, we waved at all the travelling motorhomes etc, about half didn't wave back. I would have thought, after the year we have all been through they would wave. Don't worry Sue, you keep waving, we will if we ever see you. xx

We too miss the "Wave".. We used to have an autosleeper and got waves most of the time, but now we have an issue. Not only do we not have that, but we're in a Citroen Berlingo with a Chapel Motorhomes Conversion.. We could look pretty daft waving at every berlingo on the road.. We do miss those as you say.. Excited waves back!

It's simple really. Small Motorhomes look like just delivery or work Van's. It's only when you pass them you realise there campervans or Motorhomes. By then it's too late. We wave and dont get waves back. Because we look like an ice cream or burger van. Even when parked up on a layby lorry drivers think we sell burgers. I want an ice cream van sounded to to annoy children. 🤠👍

You’re a hybrid like me! You had a moho then got a vdub. We had a vdub then got a moho. All vdubs wave at each other, it’s a bit of an unwritten rule 🤣 Trouble is, I still wave at vdubs, but they rarely wave back at me 😢 That said, only some moho drivers wave back at me too 🤣 Waddington Fell looks very like our Saddleworth Moor. Bleak and beautiful! Thanks for showing us Vanya. She’s lovely 🥰 Ours was a T4. Beers and a Twirl! What more could a girl ask for 👍🏻

A hybrid, I like that! Best thing I did was get this van, a moho way too big for just little old me although I do miss the storage space! Bit over-excited to be part of the Vdub family now if I'm honest 😆 I've had a couple of waves but need to get to work on a little decal detail methinks, to make Vanya look more camper van than electrician's van haha. That’s great that they are. My mum & dad are also still at my childhood home down Edisford way. Clitheroe will always feel like home and will probably end up back there at some point.

Its some sort of etiquette that seems to be in different areas of the country. South of England, Wales & Midlands always seem to wave when we are in our VW, further North we find it changes. Motorhome always seem to wave even on the opposite side of the Motorway which we find strange. But when we are in the VW we wave at both motorhomes and VW's lol, caravans don't ever bother lol, sometimes we forget which vehicle we are in and wave anyway lol

Love the van inside and outside. Wheels? They are a personal choice. For us, we love the honest simplicity of yours and of course if you do replace them with 18” wheels then you will have less tyre to absorb our lovely “smooth” roads in the UK. Nice video. Also nice to see the Roller Team 590 Pegaso parked at the side of the road. Think for the waving, VW’s folk usually wave. Some Motorhome folk wave at other Motorhomes but not typically campers (don’t know why) but also some Motorhome people with chassis cab models (like ours) don’t get waves back from “A-Class” motorhomes like the Pegaso you drove past. We are in your area from next Sunday (9th May) for a week........ just in case we somehow meet up or pass you 😊

Yes, I was told the my wheels will be smoother ride than larger. I’m really happy with them, they’ll do me. I think re waving I’ll just rest my hand on the top of the steering wheel and if anyone waves, quickly wave back 😂. I’d be interested to hear whereabouts you get to up in this area next week, I will no doubt be getting out and about at some point 👍

Great van, ours was a T5.1 same spec etc and colour with commercial bumpers and wheels too, ref waving the trouble we found is white van with commercial bumpers reduced waving because people thought we were plumbers.... that’s probably why people stick graphics on the bonnet? We found older vw wouldn’t wave because we weren’t cool (even tho we had a bay window before) when we went to Motorhome campers didn’t wave, Motorhomes did.... now we’re back in a van we don’t get many waves either because it’s black so doesn’t look like a camper? We just wave at anyone and call them rude names if they ignore us..... (don’t they know who we are?) 😂

We have some campervans wave at us but VW's don't seem to bother with us, as I think they class themselves as being in a different club I think, so to speak, but we've had one I think wave lol. But if you want to wave then wave. We talk about this in one of our videos coming up. Some are so ignorant we get well annoyed lol. But if you ever see us then wave and if you ever see us about then come over for a chat.

Your gas cylinder could do with being in a sealed drop out box and solid metal pipework from your regulator to the appliances, leaving only flexible pipework from your cylinder to the regulator. Butane is heavier than air and in a sealed drop out box any leakage of the butane, if it ever happens, would safely fall though the drop out vent in the bottom of the sealed box to outside the van. At the moment if your cylinder leaks, it will fill your van up with butane, which is obviously an explosion and fire risk. Cylinders should also be shut off on the cylinder valve whilst in transit.

Hi Steve, yes, I do always shut off the cylinder valve when in transit. I was well trained in that by my late husband in our moho 😊. As for the cylinder box and pipework, my van was professionally converted so I'm not au fait myself with the requirements. However, the cylinder is well secured and does have a drop out vent beneath it. Also the cupboard it is in is not usually open. It is a closed, sealed unit when the door is shut which it always is in between moving items in/out 👍

It used to be the done thing but as there are so many on the roads nowadays you’d be at all day … we have a caravan and nobody waves a sign of the times I suppose 😊

I think sometimes people don’t wave as they don’t realise it’s a camper I tend to wave at everyone even delivery vans and even when I’m in my car I wave and wonder why they don’t wave back uhh !!!!👋👋👋👋

Haha, I must admit since making this video I rarely wave now because every other vehicle seems to be a camper of some kind these days! I also used to wave at delivery drivers and horse carrying vans when we had our motorhome 😂👍🏻 👋 👋👋😊

Hi Sue, just found your channel and subscribed, binge watching. On the touch lighting, when on if you keep finger on it does it dim?

How long have you lived in your van? Do you live F/T or P/T and would you change your lifestyle at all? thinking of doing van life once I pass my driving test :)

I don’t life full time in the van, it’s for trips only. I wouldn’t rule out a couple of years full time if my personal responsibilities were to change. For now I enjoy trips. Good luck with your own van dream 😊👍🏻

Love your van reminds me of my old T5 😀we wave to everybody if they have a campervan or RV or motorhome 👋🚐🤩 we don’t mind if they don’t wave back 😍 Just subscribed 😀👏
