    Ayy, brand new here but I got a 2013 jetta 5 years ago and I love it. It's a manual 6 speed and it's been a dream to run. Probably the same engine as yours I think? It basically runs on faery farts and witchcraft because it sure doesn't need much diesel. :)

    Great video packed with useful information. I drive a 2016 Volvo V40 D2, and what i just found out is that Volvo uses the same VEA engine for its full diesel engine lineup. So my 118hp D2 is just a down clocked 150hp D3. The D4 is the same block and transmission but with upgraded injectors and a twinturbo that makes 190hp. So a tune and remap can easily make it go from 118hp to 170-180 and 100 more nm torque. Very excited.

    Hi. I found you through searching diesel engines and I just want you to know I've decided to purchase my first diesel car based entirely on your incredible videos. Especially this one. I've only watched maybe 5 but I'm blown away at the amount of detailed information you give with zero "fluff", you are like a unicorn dude, seriously. I'm busy this week but I'm going to Binge watch all your videos. I'm from Australia, they are not as popular but I'm considering either Peugeot or my preference Audi A3 with the 1.9 TDI. Could I call you or chat in a couple of weeks for some advice? I will pay you, I feel tremendous confidence in your knowledge. Thank you sincerely 🙏🏽

    Some old Peugeot 1.6 Diesels are reliable but the most reliable is the 1.9 TDI. They are known to go for over 500.000 KM. The parts are extremely common and they get tuned pretty easily from what I understand. And even if things fail they are cheap.

    Warning: if you are going to delete the EGR you have to delete the DPF first otherwise it will clog up.

    Good advice there. Most modern engines do tend to run the exhaust through the DPF before the EGR, but some older ones didn't and just dumped sooty exhaust into the intake - VW particularly were guilty of that.

    Definitely worth checking which system you've got, the older versions work much better with the egr valve blanked off. My 2010 2.0 tdci made more bottom end and gained some extra economy, it's been like this for many years now.

    @@torquecars That's hilarious, but: Can confirm. I'm not a car guy, but mine's a 2013 Jetta, I've had her 5 years from 95 to 175 thousand km (57k - 105k mi. so far) and just finally got the delete done. I can fit my head in the space where the egr used to be up top by the turbo and the dpf was underneath mid-cab or so not far before the muffler. She's a manual 6 that I intend to keep forever to be honest. I heard the timing belt should be replaced at 150 km (80k miles) but others said no biggie till there's an issue... Doesn't an issue with the timing belt = destroyed engine? She came with a full Carfax history and I baby her so there's no issues (besides the regular VW elecric part gremlins in the windows and wipers etc...). But I'm wondering if I should plan to do the timing chain (belt) and if I got it done, what else I should do while the engine's pulled to help keep her strong for another 500 000 mi.?

    Thank You! Very informative. I drive a 2016 Ford Focus Auto 2.0L D 150 BPH. I've heard some really good reports about remapping on Diesels. I was told I could get upto 190 BPH with a remap, which is exactly where the ST version is. All I was looking to get out of a remap, would be to get rid of the low down lag, when trying accelerate out of a tight spot, bit better MPG's and just a bit more power. Again I was told, i'd get that with the 190 BHP remap! I've already done some suspension and brake upgrades. It now stops with the ST brakes, bigger discs on front and calibers. Really wanted to go down the RS brakes, but then another big chunk of change, to upgrade wheels to 19".

    This is a fantastic video!!! Thank you!!! You’ve explained things very clearly! I agree tuning is really important! I have a vw BHW in my 69 cj5 Jeep. This is an off road non smog rig. I run larger nozzles on my pd injectors, and a larger turbo. I’ve done the, bsd, new cam and larger straight pipe exhaust, and the largest inter cooler I can run. Great power and economy. I’ve also installed the largest radiator that will fit. I don’t rev over 3500 very often, really don’t need to. I pull logs with a large log arch, traction is always an issue so I try to keep from spinning the tires. It has Big Chevy clutch and transmission. It’s great jeep! Love the BHW engine.

Doesn't matter if my daily commute is all freeway for 40-50 minutes or 20 minutes a day. Is fuel cooler necessary in Diesel engine?

  • @andrewdavis9146
    @andrewdavis91464 ай бұрын

    There are a wide range of tunes that won't cause these problems. Car companies at least in the us will not tune a car to spec it's always under that's why there are announcements saying that by 2030 cars will be required to get 40 mpg the numbers arnt accurate but the point is they already know how but they get a grace period so they don't take a loss of revenue. You definitely are correct that at least a basic understanding of what parameters to change i also suggest doing it yourself unless you know the mechanic really well and even then it's really a trust thing. just a little bit more air in and a little bit less fuel will do wonders for a car

Thought about upgrading the intercooler and then get a plug in tune box as I don't want to be limited to one specific tune firm a diesel tuner. That said I would like longevity in the motor and I need to tow a GTM trailer of 2500kg. A tow tune really. These engine need more.power. Custom dynontune $1700AU plus about $500 intake clean Is expensive. Some tune plug in boxes . Steinbeuer being $1400 Chip my diesel (au company) $740 TDI TUNING $500 (UK company) Was thinking TDI TUNING box interested in your thoughts on this box for a safe fuel efficient option that's removable.??

If the car seems solid then I'd recommend a remap/tune a lower power economy one, you don't want to push a high mileage engine too far. Dude you can get a ecu upgrade that doesn't do what you are saying you just have to ask yourself do you want a race car or do you want a stock car that is gonna give you what the engine should have been tuned to in the first place it's common knowledge that dealers and car manufacturers do not let the vehicle get as good of gas mileage or HP that should have came stock you can easily install a engine tune that doesn't hurt anything and in most cases will give more life to the engine if you don't believe me I can send links to basic parameters for basically any car and everyone that I have seen there is a wide range that doesn't turn your car into a race car but still give a boost of power but doesn't go anywhere close to the problem areas

    As far as I recall, it is the Ingenium Diesel engine from Jaguar Land Rover - the one at the very start that you are referring to? Some of the video animations are generic though (V6 etc) and just really support the editorial flow rather than provide a technical explanation. I will try to be more thorough in selecting b roll footage, but I'll need to sort through my library again which will take me some time.
