Saw him live here in Ukraine a couple of years ago. Superb dancer and artist. And the final piece of the evening was choreographed to the music written by him. Unforgettable.

My hat off to this magnificent dancer. At the same time, it hurts me to see how much pain and almost superhuman effort goes into these works. I've been a balletomane for many years, and even tried it myself, mostly for the enjoyment of the classes and ambience. It seems, however, that dancers are pushing themselves even harder all the time and have now also become so thin that it becomes painful to watch. Why did Guillaume have to physically throw himself down during rehearsals as well and even go on while injured and ill? He did not even take antibiotics so as not to affect his performance! My heart is with all of you who bring us so much beauty and joy. Please take good care of yourselves!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us! Best wishes.

Thanks for the very inspiring story! Guillaume is an incredible talent- his wife too! Both are far from mediocre! I completely understand not taking the meds! Even OTC meds can make me dizzy and I never take them if I have to drive or wouldn't if I had to perform! My family and I are big NBC fans!!!

By the way Heather Ogden is a professional ballerina, who was already a principal before marrying Côté, she have 2 small children with him and still dancing full time. How can somebody could think in her as "Mediocre chick"?!

I think these dancers are incredible...and SO resilient. If I worked so so hard on something, then got sick and STILL did so well, and then the director was still so critical...I think I'd resort to violence lol...

Does she say pure wits and prancing??? What does that mean? And how is that any kind of notion... Are people that ignorant about ballet? So many questions.

+Nicole Poulin I think she says "Pirouettes and prancing..." And I agree. Sometimes in an effort to fight the stereotype of male dancers all being somehow effete and effeminate, a lot of these profiles of male dancers wind up being subtly homophobic. Which is kind of ironic when you think about it...

angellover02171 According to the NHS, antibiotics can have side effects on the digestive system like: being sick, feeling sick, diarrhoea, bloating and indigestion, abdominal pain and loss of appetite. And that the side effects are usually mild and should pass once you finish your course of treatment. But of course his treatment wouldn't end in time for the first performance. So he probably was better off without them for the time being, they might have made him feel worse. With all that movement, if he felt nauseous, he would have definitely been sick on stage.

The max workout for a ballet dancer is...15 minutes like music to several hours... If you have to workout all day...then the scheadule is not appropriate and it's all being done on the rush, rush for whom? Not humanities sake nor the Arts...rather hospitals.

So you must work choreography....separate than dancing... and then you blend the two..but...the hours are limited for all of them...why..for the reasons show in this video... La memoire Divine...les Os...ooohhhiiii'dio! Why...because overworking is like creating a broom or huesos secos..I'm soo sorry we're fraiche out of parquette...is ballet domesticated? Ca va pas eihhhn! yah, you can blend them and get it all out of the way..but rehearsal time then is half the time...so you must represent yourself first as a union. And be Avant Guard..hehe...all Gargoyled and Grotto...well, that's another play called Le Bossue de Notre Dame. I can't think my chewing gum deteriorated..whom checks quality control for chewing gum..what is that..hehe

How do you fall on the stage...you build another stage that is a separate plaform with wheels as large as you need it...that second stage has a mat that looks like the floor where should fall...so you don't fall on a hard floor but rather a mattres or matt.

Yes, medical physiology does limit the amount of rehearsal and practice hours per day and even for the week...and not only that it must all be accompanied by a great nutritional diet. I know...for many that means many things but not for medical physiology.

Ballet dancers generally dance 6 days a week. 1.5 hour ballet class. Followed by hours of rehearsals. And sometimes a performance in the evening.
